Help with Cushion Sapphire wedding ring

Beautiful! I like the blue to violetish blue shift.

It also looks almost teal in some photos - is that actually what you see in hand, or is that a figment of the camera's imagination? :wink2:

There is definitely a color shift of some kind in the stone as Chrono suggested. He is probably right that is is violetish, it is actually difficult for me to tell the hue but I am guessing he could probably spot it better than me lol.

I think my camera is skewing the color a bit though, it does have a teal color in certain light for sure but I think that strong reflection is maybe making it look more teal than blue in the pictures. Honestly its hard for me to say becuase it feel like it changes so much depending on the lighting.

It has some different color as various angles and lights though. It has made me realize why these natural sapphires are so unique they just have so many cool aspects about them with you change them from one lighting or angle to the next. Thanks for all the comments I'm pretty stoked you guys like the stone!

One thing I've noticed with the UGL vs. GIA on NYGEMS is that the UGL will go into more detail (like "vivid") and that GIA won't go into that detail. Also, it is interesting is that UGL will note the origin, but that the vendor is not paying the additional fee for GIA to that verification, so I would be concerned about paying for a specific origin based on a UGL certificate.

I agree that the NYGEM place seemed a bit shady, when I did my own research I didn't see many positive results for that place. Not saying its true but just what I read

These are both good observations. Just a heads up, if you ever find yourself needing a lab report or "cert," the only US ones PS posters and most in the trade would recommend would be GIA and AGL. They have the equipment necessary to identify whether something has been diffused. AGL is the only one I would trust with origin - and these are the only two that I would give any credence to with respect to color/grading. In other words, your instincts are correct about UGL and the lack of GIA analysis.

Ah, good advice I will look for that in the future

Hello again, here is the finished product!!! She said yes :)

Everyone has been giving her lots of compliments on the ring and sapphire and she really loves it so its been a big success.

Sapphire is from Sasha at Deliqa Gems

Diamonds are from Blue Nile which had a great amount of selection and I used a local jeweler for the custom ring.

Thanks again for all the help it was quite a journey lol.
