Hi Folks,

I am looking to transform the first solitaire necklace I gave as a gift to the girl of my dreams while we were dating. Now that we've been married for nearly two years, I wanted to use the small diamond in the necklace and create a set of martini earrings.

Does anyone have any recommendations on purchasing a 0.22 carat, SI1, Color G-H loose diamond, so that I can bring it to our local jeweler?

Thanks in advance for your recommendations!

Maybe you could take that stone to your jeweler so that he can try to match it up. It's much easier to match if you can see the original stone.

Good for your wife - watch her diamond garden grow! You know you'll be needing to replace the pendant with a larger one, right? :naughty:

Thanks for the insight MissGotRocks. I actually did that first step but was quoted about $400 for a diamond by the local jeweler. It was more expensive than the amount paid for the necklace so I'm thinking it's not as good of a deal as I could get. I'm not too familiar with online purchasing the sites to look at but I recall that pricescope discounts were given and further discounts if a wire transfer is used. Can someone point me in the right direction with some stones or the process of where to look? Also, is it important to match the color of the stone exactly or deviating a bit wouldn't bring much attention? Thanks in advance for the help!

icescope discounts and wire discounts are give by: Brian Gavin Diamonds, Whiteflash, I believe Blue Nile.... and others... James Allen comes to mind..

Just my thoughts- if a matching stone is going to cost around 300- then to have them both set into matching settings at least another 100- maybe buying her a new set of earrings and leaving the neckalce as is - is a better economical choice?

Thanks everyone for your help in delivering valuable recommendations. I'm in processing of checking out the sites and will determine if it's best to go with new earrings or use the old pendant diamond. Thanks again.
