Help with sapphire

I agree that it could on the darker side. I am liking the midnight blue color with a teeny touch if violet though.

It is here! Here are a few quick photos under crappy lighting (sun is setting:-() I really love the blue color it has. It does have dark areas when you move the stone around but it is a wonderful blue 80-90% of the time. I will look at it more tomorrow and decide. At the moment I think it is the one!

this is as close to "real life" color as I can get, does not do the stone justice

Is it a nice stone? Yes
Is it a well saturated stone? No, but it could be good enough.

The bottom line is this - price paid, how much time you have to look, are you prepared to keep looking or have you had enough?
This is a heated stone, correct?

Is the colouration even? Meaning, there's no areas where the blue fades off into a much lighter shade than the rest (not to be confused with contrast) consistently. I see it in 3 of your pictures but it could just be the lighting / angle which is why I am asking. I don't see it in the vendor's photograph though.

How is it indoors (halogen, incandescent and fluorescent)?

I have the option to send it back for a full refund, the color is even, the pictures have been taken with my iPhone so they are not great! These were taken under a downlight. I will take it out in the sunshine tomorrow! The stone is heated.

Believe it or not, my iPhone takes much better (colour accurate) pictures than my point and shoot digital camera.

Well not inky at all! If you love it the little window should close up depending how it's set. More pics in the daylight please :))

Here is a quick shot of it in the sun. I plan on doing a similar setting to the attached pictures. Do you think that will close up the window?
Thanks

By the looks of that last pic I would think so, the basket below the stone in the setting you've posted should do it. Pretty halo by the way :))

I'm quite sure it will be minimized. It is small to begin with, to the point it looks more like a tilt window rather than a true window.

It's interesting how we "see" different things. I see a reasonably big tilt window that seems to be there even when the gem is slightly tilted. With that in mind, it may be minimised in a setting but it might not. I think you'll have to try out different ones to see how it behaves. I love the setting you've shown but that's a very expensive setting (just wanted to warn you in case you had just fallen in love with the picture). I wanted something similar for one of my stones and ended up not having it made due to the cost.

I like the sapphire you've shown and it seems bright in some lights but darker in others (which is normal). Even when dark it doesn't seem overly dark. I actually prefer sapphires like this. A nice find!

Hi LD, I am aware of how much the setting will be as I have had several quotes before searching for the sapphire but we have decided to go ahead with it.
I am in love with the color of the stone so I am forgiving the tilt window, to me it is not too obvious.
The completed ring should be done before Christmas. I will be sure to post a picture:D

WOW! A happy customer! Well done :appl: :appl: :appl: Please do come back and post pictures, we do like to see the finished product. :))

Wow, it looks so much better in your pictures! Congratulations on finding the one! We'll look forward to seeing your bling :))

Yes Minous, a great lesson for a newbie like me as to why you need to see things in person! OP pictures of it are much better than the vendor. A very pretty color. Congrats!
