Oh good blueroses your here. Now do you mind just circling that top left ring with the profile shot too. It''s the top left pic in your collage. Thanks. That is the ring, not the other one by Daniel K.

Ok, here''s the Daniel K and the Lovey w/ my silly little notes. As far as I can tell, the "Lovey" is sort of a combination of prong and bezel-set? (vs., say, Jesse''sgrl''s ring which is clearly prong-set above the halo)

asschcollagelis.jpg

I''m confused by all the eye-candy! Which one is the right ring?!

I ADORE that Split Shank one in BR''s collage, that''s my absolute favorite!

Also having tried on the Daniel K in the store and seeing the Lovey, I think I like the Lovey better...but both wouldn''t work on my hand. Boo.

you could also elevate the bezel slightly above the pave which would give the lifted look without the prongs.

Thank you that top ring is what I want with no prongs. I think they are mixed up a little, the guys at the jewlery store that is!!!!

Mara,
No wonder you''re confused they did the cad of the wrong ring. It''s the one on the top left of blueroses collage.

Storm,
That is a great idea. Thanks!!!

Actually, you know what?? I''m confused too!! I think we''re talking about two VERY slightly different Daniel K styles, and they are so close that I have ALWAYS thought of them as one and the same!!! But now I can see that the gallery is different--chunkier--in the pic Mrs. S posted (the one from solomon brothers) vs. that famous top-down and side shot from the ad.

Here''s the confusing thing: On the solomon brothers website, the names "empress" and boxter" are used interchangeably--for the one Mrs S posted, NOT the one Kaleigh and I (and Mara, and Lovey, et al) are drooling over!!! It is such a subtle difference and now I am thoroughly confused!!!

Ok. So NOW....I have found another pic (I think) of the one we LOOOVE from Judith Arnell''s site. This one seems to have the delicate gallery. And yet, they still call it the boxter!!????

Drool.

Ok, I am now beating a dead horse, but if you knew me in person, you''d know I think out loud, so in this case I''m typing avec thinking.

THIS is the one we want, yes?

THISDanK.JPG

And NOT THIS ONE (subtle, but important....check out the boxy gallery by comparison!!!!)...and this one doesn't have that sort of unbroken-line of the shank under the head that the one above does.

I think this is a great idea too. The bezel will add a bit of girth to the stone & elevating it will showcase it w/o having prongs which could detract visually. I like the slightly more delicate look of the 2nd ring you posted better too. (Though the CADs were certainly gorgous too...) You can do anything you want with the gallery of the ring as you don''t have to worry about putting a wedding band next to this baby!

I LOVE that ''THISDanK'' one, that''s the one I tried on, it''s stunning in person. But not for my big man hand.

I''m not surprised that different sites have the wrong names...that''s kind of like the Michael B where there''s 3 similar styles etc and they all have similar names..too confusing.

Ok, no more obsessive picture posting. I agree that a slight bezel elevation (like Strmdr and Brightspot said) would be a great idea!

In ANY case, if he did the wrong one so nicely, I KNOW he''ll do the right one well too!!!
25.gif

Mara, that''s a relief to hear that--I was starting to think I was going koo-koo for cocoapuffs. I am envious that you tried on the "THISDanK" one....it''s the one I meant to, but I think I tried on the 2nd one....still gorgeous, but didn''t love the gallery & now I know why!

Ok it''s very similar. The one I want is the Danile K at the top of blueroses collage. But now there may be a problem as I talked to the manager. He wants to make sure I altered it enough and I respect that. I told him I changed it by 20% and it''s cool. So now I have to wait for him to call me back with the veridct. I reminded him that I was their very first customer when they first opened and he said he knows that full well and wants me to be happy. Oh lord, is it happy hour yet????

Ok, I totally lied--this thread is like catnip (or crack, take your pick!!!

Here is the RB version of the ring we are talking about--just posting it b/c the difference in the gallery is so clear with this.

Yes blue that''s the one I want!!!! Let''s pray everything is ok. Tick tock waiting for the phone call.

Lisa, it''s after 5:00 in London....we''ll go with Greenwich MeanTime for now!!!

leave it bezel set is my pick.
Extra protection and it blends better in my opinion :}
Oh, I really disagree!!!!

I think prong set a teensy teensy bit elevated would help ''show off'' that magnificent asscher! I wouldn''t want it to ''blend in''!!!!

I also think the stone would get plenty of protection with the halo around it...

JMO, of course!

kaleigh- I totally agree with widget! I wasn''t sure what I would do with my ring until I actually tried on the ritani endless love, which is bezel set, and another ritani which was prong set. I preferred the prong set by FAR.

like storm said, the bezel set "blends in." I don''t want that! I wanted the stone to be the main focal point with the halo as decoration

I didn''t even know it was possible to do a bezel setting while raising the stone up a bit, but perhaps this is a good option if you definitely don''t want prongs?

So the CAD images are wrong? What''s going on?? I''m a little confused.
14.gif

Lisa, I think bezel set is better than prong set. I would be afraid that the prongs might over power the stone, since it is not a huge stone, it''ll look better with the bezel setting.

Kaleigh...I wonder if I''m second guessing myself now...

I sure agree that you want as little "hardware" as possible. One advantage of bezeling the stone is that it''s so clean looking. Another problem with prongs is that they can obscure the shape of the stone.

It''s so funny...as I was sitting here, a woman I know who is an antique jewelry dealer called...and I asked her. (I don''t know if she''s right, but she said bezeling the center stone will help make the overall look of the whole ring look bigger, but the stone itself look smaller than it would if it were prong set...

I wonder if a bezel set stone could be slightly elevated....hmm...

You know, whatever you do, it''s going to be fabulous. I guess I''d want to talk to the benchman and get his ideas on the best way to mount it, what options there are for really inobtrusive prongs...and then decide...

Hee hee....I''m not much help, am I????

PS...I tried to blow up a couple of the bezel set rings in the collabe above...are those teensy triple bezels in the one on the right?

Well guys here's the deal. The manager just called me back. They are doing another cad tonight, of the correct ring. He can't sign off on it unless I have altered it enough. I told him that I did make significant changes to the design, but he says he needs to see it visually before he says yes. This is soooo dissapointing. He will call me tomorrow. So this is where I need your help. Lets say he says no, what else can I do to alter it. I added diamonds to the gallery and had diamonds going up the gallery os well. So is that enough??? What do you guys think. And I don't want prongs.

I'll repeat what I said in PM so others can weigh in too...

I agreed about additional diamonds going up the gallery (where the Daniel K just has metal)

What about some milgrain or engraving on the shank?

This would be a big change, but....what about that teensy space btw the bezel and halo a la hest88's sister or cute330grl or Brightspot? That'd be a pretty big adjustment, but it could be really small/subtle and that would be at least a 20% change right there?? (Oh, and would you like another cocktail? How was the mojito? I could move us on to martinis if you like
2.gif
)

(Oh, P.S. Widget, that one on the right you posted is Lovey's....I don't think there's any triple-bezeling, it's probably just a light trick? It was an awesome picture taken in the snow.)

milligrain edges....bezel set.....split shank

I must be getting senile....I forgot what Michael E did when he set this aqua into an old mounting....

Uhmmm... not to hijack, but BLUEROSES, that last ring with the RB is EXACTLY what I want my Leon Mege to look like. It should be arriving within this week and I am freaking out. So can you tell me where you got that ring? I'm going to stare at it and wish I had just purchased that setting. No cad, no free hand drawing is making me crazed.

Kaleigh, I thought your CAD looked amazing! But the changes are going to make it even more beautiful. Talk about major bling for a right hand ring.

Thanks blue,
Those are great ideas and will have them in my back pocket in case he says no. I know he really wants to do it for me, as I was their first customer, but see his point as well. I am definitely having them do my ring, I may just have to change a thing or 2, or 3, or 4............
14.gif

Lisa, I know this is probably making you sick to your stomach, but I have faith that your guy is going to come through for you....it may differ from the DK starting point, but it's going to be ALL YOU...and then we will have "The Kaleigh" on here to drool over!!!! I KNOW it's going to work out.

Miss Ally, I didn't realize your Leon was due so soon, HOORAY!!!!! That RB above is a Daniel K--the round version of the boxter ring we all love; the picture itself is from the solomonbrothers.com website, though there are similar pics on danielk.net and niceice.com....but honestly:

DO NOT SECOND GUESS yourself, young lady!!! You've definitely spent less money using Leon than getting the Daniel K setting, and it will be similar but all your own design. I have every confidence that you're going to love it!!

(P.S. Widget, OMG, I LOVE that ring!!!)

I like the idea of raising the bezel a "tish" ... that might be enough of a change to slip it through the old system smoothaliciously. If only that bezel wouldn''t have to be so thin ... you could ... wait for it .... sink baguettes into it.!!! I''ve gone LOCO! Kaleigh, most certainly you''re going to end up with one of the most admired rings on the scope. Happy! Happy!

Deco, I like the way you think, girl!!

I had a similar thought about that extra "raised" portion (though I was thinking a sideways extra layer of pave btw the stone and the halo....I like your idea better!!)

Smoothalicious!!
