sumbride- ladera and ti kaye are VERY laid back. like you are on nature's time. no phones, no tv. yes there's internet at ladera, but it's one computer near the office. and ti kaye had one public tv that i never saw anyone use.

this is a place to go for peace and quiet time. inner reflection and what not. it was the perfect calmness we were seeking after the whirlwind of the wedding.

Wow, JCrow, Ladera looks gorgeous!! Thanks for sharing the pics!

And I totally know what you mean about how you would''ve been fine with a shorter trip. We had five nights in Mexico, and though it was just paradise, we were definitely ready to go home when we did. It does sound weird, but I totally agree with you! Of course once we got home, we were like, "I wanna go back to Mexico, waaaaaah!!!" so maybe the grass is just always greener (and the ocean is always bluer) somewhere else

And Sum, even though you''ll have lived together for two years by the time the HM rolls around, trust me, you WILL snuggle all the time!! That newlywed feeling is just BLISS
30.gif
-- you just can''t keep from planting smooches on your new hubby whenever possible! The best activity during the honeymoon is just relaxing with your guy and enjoying the "ohmygod, we''re married!"ness of it all

Thanks so much for posting these pics and all the info about St. Lucia and Ladera. I''ve been surfing the net looking for resorts in St. Lucia and all your info is very much appreciated! Just a few questions....

* Was it too hot without air conditioning at night?
* Is the beach within walking distance? or do you have to take the shuttle? Was that a pain?
* I''m assuming Ladera is not all-inclusive? Was it expensive to eat and do activities like snorkeling?
* How much is Ladera per night?

thanks!

are you only talking about ladera or ti kaye too?

if ladera:

1- not too hot at all! it''s set 1,100 feet above sea level. the breeze waas one of my favorite things!! it wasn''t a hot beeze either! or cold. it was just right. the suite we stayed at the first 2 nights had louvre doors for one of the walls. so we open those and the breeze was spectacular. the villa didn''t have those louvre doors instead of the wall. it wasn''t too hot though.

2- you take a shuttle to the jalouise beach from ladera. not a problem what so ever. there are times already set up for the shuttle service to the beach. you mention at the office an hour before you want to leave. we told them before go eat breakfast. then after breakfast we got ready and caught the shuttle. then the place it drops you off is where it picks you up. there are several set times for the service. TOTALLY worth every second to see that beach!!

3- there are all-inclusive food and food and drink plans available at ladera. we didn''t decide till we got there to get the all-inclusive food and drink plan for $90/person/day. seems steep, but the food is a bit pricey, at least compared to where i live. lunch was $50 and that usually included us getting an appetizer to share, me an appetizer for a meal and him an entree or appetizer. nights ran $120 or so. but we REALLY ate! we''d order an appetizer and each a meal. plus each a drink or two and a dessert or two. i don''t know about snorkling b/c i didn''t go. it may have been included. at ti kaye it was $10.

4- don''t remember. check www.ladera.com

sumbride- this is from the ladera website:

A detailed garden map of the property with escorted tours twice a week.

Daily Tours- available from the Tour desk - see all the attractions located within minutes from the resort including the Sulphur and Mineral springs, walk-in Volcano, Rain forest to name a few. For more detailed infomation

Wood carving - demonstration one night per week at the bar.

another CON of ti kaye i forgot about, is lack of privacy. we were shocked to see several times workers walking outside of our cottage. they would walk RIGHT by our PRIVATE plunge pool. i''m talking, the plunge pool is on our porch and it''s just the ocean view in front of us. IF we would have been naked, oh good gosh, that would have been VERY unpleasent!! not only that, but we could see the porches of other cottages too! i''m not saying we walk around naked, but the imperssion i got from the website and other people''s reviews was that you COULD if you wanted to. not a good idea. at least not from our cottage.

this is the check in/out area at ladera. it''s open air.

dasheen restaurant at ladera

looking from dasheen restaurant, you can see the roof tops of the suites/villas. and down below where the chairs are is the infinity pool.

thank you!

and the bathroom in suite V. the hot water is solar powered. we never ran out at ladera. ti kaye, however had a water heater. it didn''t stay hot long enough for me to wash my hair.

i know what you mean. when we told people where we were going, several people said, ohhh, you''re going to be dissapointed, it never looks like you think, it''s not that nice, the water isn''t pretty, or i wouldn''t go back to the carribean. ha, they were WRONG. at least in this instance~

Here is the video clip (windows media file)

YOU ROCK PS!! thanks SO much!

this clip is from suite V at ladera. it's our view of the pitons from the plunge pool. petite piton on the left, gros on the right. down below in the valley is jalouise plantation & beach. those are birds flying. and the sounds is of the water in the plunge pool. there is a switch to turn it off.

Thanks for the pictures and the informative reviews. FI and I are in the process of figuring out where we want to go on our honeymoon, and Ladera is now very high on the list.
1.gif
I''m glad that you had such a good time!

sure thing

and one other thing i wanted to mention cause it was a question in our heads before going. bugs. or bug bits. we were prepared with loads of bug stray. i think we used it once. at ti kaye. but, we DIDN''T need it. we saw virtually no bugs, especially at ladera - proabably b/c it is so high up and the breeze. and both places had bug spray available in the rooms.

oooh! st lucia has totally popped up to the top of my list for future vacation spot! it looks fab! how long is the flight to get there?

ginger- from miami it''s right under 3 hours.

Jcrow--Thanks for your honest talk on Ti Kaye. Missing the details and lack of privacy along with a crowded beach are enough to throw it off my list for future trips. I''m going to tell Hubby that to do St. Lucia we need to save up enough to do Ladera. It takes us at least a few days to get in the vacation spirit so I''d aim for a 5-6 day trip total. Maybe for our 5 year anniversary.....

i know so many people love ti kaye, but we just didn''t get it. like i said, it was ok, but not wow.

another thing regarding the all inclusive plans at ladera- if we would have not gotten the all inclusive plan an eaten like we would have normally done (splitting meals, etc.) it would have been cheaper. we just decided to go all out

WOW!!! Those are beautiful pictures!

It looks so perfect, almost fake!

Definitely going to add St Lucia to my list of places to see. In fact, it was my first choice to get married at, but their waiting period was too long, so we went with Antigua instead.

Thanks for sharing!
