we decided to do a cruise. it''s economical and fun and one of the ports is Cozumel which we both want to go to very badly to see the Mayan Temples :) We''re doing 5 days and 6 nights and I can''t wait! The ship will most likely be the Carnival Inspiration and we''ll be leaving 2 days after the wedding and I''m so so exited!!!! I can''t wait until we actually book it teehee :)

That''s great Smurfy! I''m sure you''ll have a wonderful time on the cruise. I''ve never been on one but I''ve heard they''re fun. I''m sure you''ll be able to see a lot at the ports.

I have been to the Yucatan and it is wonderful! Enjoy yourselves, and the Mayan ruins!

Smurfy, I''ve been on that cruise and that ship! I went about 8 years ago now with about 6 of my friends for our senior year in college trip. It was great fun.

Smurfy- I've been on 4 cruises, and they are a Blast!! You're going to love it!!

I've actually been on the Inspiration. A crazy girls graduation trip in '02! You'll have so much fun! Where are you leaving from?

We''re going to be leaving from the ft. lauderdale, fl port 2 days after the wedding is over (traditional to do a gift opening the next day in our family)

you guys are making me even more excited!
found out today that dad is going to contribute to the honeymoon too so maybe we''ll be able to add a cruise with 1 or 2 more ports :) We had picked a shorter one so we could have a suite

smurfy- Congrats on the help with the trip!! That''s awesome!! Have you already purchased the cruise? or are you still looking? I would HIGHLY recommend Crusiecritic.com It has great information and will allow you to see which cruises/ports would suite your interests better. People update their experiences with each ship every week. They also send out cruise deals every week. You could get on the mailing list and maybe that would open your option even more.

http://www.cruisecritic.com/

on the right, go to "Reviews" and then find your ship in the drop down menu.

I actually saw that website last night meresal! Fi got sick of me saying "look at this" "hey check this out" lol
We haven''t booked it yet. My dad says we should wait until the wedding is about 6 months away because 1. the rates tend to go down the closer it gets to the cruise and 2. he wants to make sure no major world events happen that could influence where we choose to go (which I''m sure fi will agree with as he has an irrational fear of piracy

i know it happens but he felt better after i read him the security guidelines)

Yay! Congrats on choosing a honeymoon!

Pirates are always ruining cruises... lol.

I''ve heard people say not to bother with any room besides a oceanview, because you only sleep and shower in it. Can''t speak for that, never been on a cruise, but that''s what they say! Could be another excursion or 3.

well the reason for wanting a suite and don''t think i''m nuts here, is the large bed hahah
we want room to "move around" if you will

Congrats on choosing your honeymoon! It sounds like a wonderful vacation!

And I must say, you are very on top of all of your wedding planning! I feel so behind compared to everything you are doing! It''s all great stuff and I love reading your threads!

aww thanks laura! i figure the more i get done now the less ill have to worry the closer it gets to the wedding *crosses fingers* hopefully! although if you saw my stack of std cards waiting to be put in the mailbox you probably wouldnt believe me lol

If it's not too late I highly recommend Royal Carribean. I went on Carnival once and HATED it. Food was terrible, and the ship was dirty. RC is much much better, as is Princess, and Costa Cruiselines.

I am trying to convince my Fiance to take a cruise with Cozumel on the itinerary because I am DYING to see the Mayan ruins! However, he has been to Cozumel twice when in college so he views it as a party town

We are narrowing it down between 5 cruises now. Where else does your ship stop?

It''s not too late to switch. I''m basically picking the ship with the best itinerary. I''ve heard some bad reviews of carnival but it seems like the good ones outweigh the bad ones

Here''s what it looks like, but if my dad offers to help out extra we may be able to pick one with more stops or else go on RC (Which I would prefer just because I like the ship layout better and it seems like it is less oriented towards kids)

Day Port of Call Arrive Depart
Monday, Nov 16 Tampa, FL 4:00pm
Tuesday, Nov 17 Fun Day At Sea
Wednesday, Nov 18 Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands 8:00am 3:00pm
Thursday, Nov 19 Cozumel, Mexico 11:00am 8:00pm
Friday, Nov 20 Fun Day At Sea
Saturday, Nov 21 Tampa, FL 8:00am

Congrats Smury, I think you''ll have an awesome time no matter what! Its your honeymoon!
Cruises are fun and beautiful!
Not sure if you guys are drinkers, but if you are - keep in mind that drinks are NOT included in your cruise price - so be prepared for the bar tab to pay on the last day!
Fiance and I love our drinks on vacation and didn''t realize how much we consumed until it was time to pay

Just something to keep in mind!

Just remember the longer cruise you take, the more the on-ship and off-ship costs are going to go up... So IMO, I would either go with a nicer ship and keep it to like 3/4 days... or go with Carnival and do the longer trip.

Yeah I had definitely thought about the price of drinks lol
Me and fi haven''t been drinking much lately *shrugs* But I''m sure we''ll have more than a few on the cruise. I guess we''ll probably just have it charged to our card and pay off with the money we have saved up until that point.

Hey Smurfy - I actually did that exact cruise (Carnival) a few years ago. I really did NOT like it at all. Again - I would highly recommend RC with more stops. I took a RC cruise (a smaller ship) years ago, it stopped in Paradise Island and a bunch of other places and I loved it! Are there any cruises that go to Costa Rica? It''s gorgeous there! Also - St. Marteen is amazing. Jamaica is also supposed to be very nice - although I have never been. When I went on the Carnival cruise, they stopped in some random place in Cozumel and it was going to cost like 100$ usd to get to the nice part of Cozumel by cab. We just stayed at a beach near the port and it was boring.

oh yeah check out vacationstogo.com for cruise deals - they are amazing!

Cruises are so much fun and a great idea for your honeymoon! I know you mentioned that you are waiting to book your cruise to see if prices go down, but you don''t need to do that. If you book the cruise today and the price drops, you can call up you TA or the cruiseline and they will adjust the price for you. Also, you would just put a deposit down now and you can get that back up until about 70-90 days before the cruise if you change your mind. And FYI I can''t speak for all cruise lines, but the beds in all rooms are usually the same size. Two twin beds that they either leave separate or push together.

wow thank you so much for your opinions ladies, i guess i have some thinking to do (uggh not more thinking!!!)

I''m adding another "Don''t do Carnival!" opinion here. The Carnival cruise I took was really not a nice vacation at all. There were drunk college students everywhere, as well as children. I hear that other cruise lines are very nice, though.

If you can swing it, I''d choose a nicer cruse line than Carnival for your honeymoon. You''re going to want to feel as relaxed and pampered as possible, and Carnival is not the place for that.

Good luck picking the right cruise!

I''m also on the ''don''t do Carnival'' bandwagon.

November is still hurricane season but the chances of a hurricane in November are pretty slim. Point is that you can get cheap cruises even with Royal or NCL.
