I''m not an official LIW, since I know engagement isn''t coming for awhile (not until graduation from law school, and that''s still 1.5 years away), but BF and I talk about our future wedding, rings, etc.

Tonight, out of the blue, he mentioned that he had been doing some research and had calculated the price of a winter wedding at Castle on the Hudson! We had looked at some venues (mostly summery outdoors places) but this was totally on his own initiative

Of course, the great thing about NOT being engaged yet is that I can still dream about any venue, without worrying about cost

We''re looking at the Palm House site now...a girl can dream!

Gee, that''s pretty cute! I guess the advantage of living in a country with ''real'' winters, is that you have the opportunity for a ''real winter'' wedding!! Are fluffy fur-bonnets compulsory? I''d love one of those! (Probably not with a skating skirt though!

awww i love hearing about this kinda stuff. how sweet!
you know it''s on his mind!

Hehe the only problem is I hate the cold! But if we want to be married in NY (which is where we''re heading after graduation), something has to be compromised (either get married in winter, or sacrifice location for summer). Of course, then I think - hey a winter wedding at a castle...that''s kind of romantic

Hope so!

Now we just have to start earning money...

cute!!!

In the tri-state area, a winter wedding offers the greatest savings! December - February has the best pricing from the venues I''ve contacted.

That''s great that he brought this up and was researching all on his own. A proposal may just be sooner than you think!

Thanks guys! Let''s hope!

Winks_Elf, it''s incredible how expensive venues are - both winter and summer. You''re right - it''s much much cheaper in the winter!

That is SO sweet! Aww! I loathe the cold, but it might be worth a consideration or two given the difference in pricing... or at least worth some dreaming until the real decisions are made. A castle, huh? Wow!

How cute! It is so fun that he is involved in some wedding pre-planning. My FI didn''t even see our venue until several months after it had been chosen and paid for (stupid big law firm job makes him work a zillion hours a week). A castle sounds lovely and so romantic! What a sweetheart you have.

Ahhhww thats so sweet. I bet it comes sooner than you think if hes researching.

Definitely. The price difference is incredible. Hehe, I got BF hooked on the idea of a castle a while back when I showed him a picture of

Aww haha I sympathize! Or will anyway - BF and I are both heading into NY Biglaw in a couple years! Maybe I should take advantage of all our current free time and plan everything now

Aw thanks Tay Tay! I''d love to think so, but the only thing is, we''ll be in a much better financial position when we graduate, which isn''t for another 1.5 years. But it''s nice to dream! And I''m grateful for all of your support, ladies!

That is the cutest thing I''ve heard in quite awhile!!! It must feel SO good to know he''s thinking so much about that (future) day!

Your post put a smile on my face this morning!

Aww thanks Still_Waiting! It''s a little frustrating knowing that our plans depend on graduating from law school and actually having funds to pay for all this, but on the other hand, I''m really lucky that he''s committed to our relationship, and is fine with talking about all this wedding stuff (and bringing it up himself). I need to go give him another hug!

Yes. If the economy turns around, I can assure you that you won''t have the time nor energy once you start work. But that''s better than sitting around and not billing. Good luck!

Eek that''s what I was afraid of! But with all the stuff going on now, you''re right - I would MUCH rather be busy and working than not having work, being laid-off, etc.

Harriet, if I remember right, you were also working while planning right? How did that go? How long did it take you to plan everything?

Me too! But it''s so darn expensive! I think the site fee alone was $7000-$10000

Oh goodness. Well then. I hope BigLaw treats you well.

I hope you can find another venue just as pretty! For that kind of money you could practically build your own castle...

Thanks! But no kidding on the cost! I think if we aimed for that castle, we''d be waiting for 10 more years and hoping one of us makes partner, or else it''s a no-go

me and my so said the same thing " we would wait till we had some money tucked away" his mom told him it didnt matter if we had money it mattered that we love each other and wanted to spend the rest of our lives together. it may not be that big wedding i always dreamed of but we will be husband and wife.

aw that''s great!
My SO has mentioned a beach wedding (but I''m not beachy!!), still it''s adorable when they come up with their ideas, it is their day too!
