How many bags?

I haven''t bought any new bags for the past couple of years. I love what I have, and they last a long time.

I probably buy about 1 bag a year, and then I usually get 1 as a gift. I adore Coach bags, and I love that the ones I bought/received 5-7 years ago are still good as new.

Wee threadjack: Elmorton, how can I get my Coach bags repaired/refurbished? I have a 5-year-old tan and ivory bag that is looking a little dingy and worn. It''s one of my favorite bags, and I would love to know how it can look new again!

COACH has a standing lifetime warranty that if something needs repairing - for instance a broken zipper, stitching thats come undone, that type of thing.....the bag can be taken into a coach store and they send it back to the manufacturer for repair for free. If its determined unfixable, you will get a store credit for the amount of what the bag was when purchased, I believe.

For the past three years, I''d say I bought 4-5 bags per year, but I''d also say I''m slightly obsessive about them. I''ve been pretty good this past year and only bought two, although combined they probably cost the same as the 5 I bought 3 years ago!

Now I feel I''ve got my everyday bags sorted, so I''m saving for a Chanel ...

Maybe 1 per year.

I used to collect vintage clutches, but that was before gems took over my life.
Now that is a collection I would love to see!

Thank you! There is some stitching that is coming apart, so I think I will take it to my Coach store and see what they can do. I wonder if they clean it for you, too? I have done my best to try and keep it clean, but an ivory-colored bottom panel just cannot stay clean for very long.

Your most welcome.

They probably won''t clean it. But they will try to sell you some lovely COACH cleaning products!

Actually, it might get cleaned if it has to be sent in. Don''t know, I''ve never done it myself.

Hrmmm a can of red spray paint could fix that

I buy quite a lot. Depends, I have no formula. If I like something I get it. Nowadays though, with the price of Chanel etc so high, I would rather only buy things that are classic and save the rest...jewelry is always good!!!

I buy about one a year. I currently have only a few handbags, and I donate or sell my old bags when I am done with them. One is my every day bag that is somewhat more expensive (Michael Kors) and is in a neutral brown leather. I have another one that is a cheapie bag from marshalls that I bring on vacations, football games, etc. when I don''t want to bring a nice bag. Then I have a couple of special occasion bags, one tiny black bag, and one vintage raw silk clutch for special occasions.

Less than one a year...maybe less than one every FIVE years...

I carry a Coach bag, which I update about every 10 years. A classic look and those bags last! My most recent find came off eBay and was completely new, even though it hasn''t been made in years. I look for those ladies who clean out their closets and put a brand new vintage leather Coach bag up for sale, and I skip the professional purse vendors. A real bonus is when they have a lousy photo of the bag, because there are fewer bids.

One caution though. I have ended up with a fake Coach (which was completely obvious in person. Good grief, I''ve been carrying Coach for over 30 years now...), but I got my money back.

I was reading an interview with a large handbag manufacturer who said that last year the average number of handbags a woman bought was 4-5 per year. This made me feel funny as I barely buy one per year. So my question is, how many bags do you think you buy per year? And do you think you''ll buy fewer of them in this new economy?

I am trying to find out if I am the only one who buys so few.

I''m like you. I buy barely 1/year.

I went through a purse phase a couple years ago in which I accumulated a pretty nice collection. (I fell in love with Monsac purses.. dunno if anyone''s familiar with them)

I couldn''t even tell you the last time I bought a purse. Nothing''s caught my eye in a really long time (probably at least 2 years!).

(Shoes, on the other hand...

I would say an average of 2 a year and I always try to get them one sale or discounted online.

I don't know if it's the same, but I do like a nice man bag. I used to buy maybe 2 a year, but I don't anymore. I'm rocking a diaper bag now.
2.gif

This year I''ve bought two bags. They really aren''t my thing and most years I probably wouldn''t even buy one but I just loved the two that I bought.

Usually 2 a year, since I decided to stop stuffing my closet with bags I don't wear. A while ago it was maybe 5-6 a year and now I have tons of bags, some of them really pricy ones, that are just sitting there collecting dust. But now I'm a new woman.
9.gif
No more than 2 bags a year. If only jewellery obsession was as easy to control too...

I generally buy 2 a year, but this year I went overboard and bought 3 Hermes bags, 1 LV wallet, and I''m thinking about getting a Chanel bag if the one I like is still there when I go back to the store on Friday.

Probably 5 for myself...and a handful for other people. In the end about 10.

I only buy 1 bag a year. I do have a few friends who buy several inexpensive bags a year (they like changing things up with their outfits). I won''t be buying a bag right now unless it is on sale and I have to have it. I already have too much stuff as it is though.
This is me.

I have a black, brown, bright teal and green bag that I switch depending on the outfit. I buy cheap bags, because I like to change things up a lot.

You are all making me want to save up and buy a Coach bag, LOL! Just so I don''t have to replace them every 3 months.

I buy one a year. I love coach leather bags and I get one new one a year. They wear really well and I find that in a year, the older one usually still looks great, I just like variety.

I really hate shopping (the only exception is shoes, though I still only buy those when I have to), so for me having to buy a new purse is akin to going to the dentist. When my current purse has become so worn that it is in danger of falling apart, I will make a run for the coach outlet--the minute they open, of course--and buy whatever is 40% or 50% off. I then pray to the purse gods that I don''t have to go back to the Coach outlet for at least 2 more years.

I''m not a purse person. For the longest time I just kept my wallet and keys in my pocket, didn''t use a purse at all.
If I need a bag I have a small cloth tote from Target I use, or carry an extra tote bag if stopping by the grocery store.
Last year bought a big beach tote for swimming (does that count?)
This fall before going on vacation actually bought a real purse (fossil?) for the first time. Don''t anticipate buying another for many years.

A Statement like this made by the purse manufactor is pure promotion to get people to buy more purses in a poor economy...They use statements like this in interviews to make women feel like they are not up to par with the average woman unless they are buying 4-5 handbags a year...that there is something wrong with them or they are missing out on something...they arent complete without several bags in their wordrobe...they become justifiable needs to look and feel good about yourself....facts and figures are bent and exaggerated in advertising to create a buyers market.

I got my first COACH bag this year as an Anniversary gift from FFI. I think that I probably by MAYBE one a year. i still have purses from high school....don''t any of you DARE to ask how long thats been....however, I don''t really like to get purses. I might start a shoe fetish now though.....
31.gif

I guess it just depends on if I see a bag that I like that much...

Up till recently I have been carrying a baby bag for my son. I have my eye on a few bags that I would like. Need to get christmas over with first though!

I'm a HUGE Coach handbag lover. But I probably only get 1-2 per year. They last F-O-R-E-V-E-R and never go out of style. I also take incredibly good care of them and not one of them has fallen apart on me yet.

It's just that, everytime they come out with a new bag that I fall in love with, I can't help myself.
11.gif
So anyway, in 2008, I've bought 2 of them.
