How much info do you give to people who ask about

After reading all 3 of her current threads (and the dust they stirred up) this does not seem like a sincere poster.

I don't understand why you are asking for guidance about how to respond to nosy questions about your ring, when on RT, you are asking opinions re: which ring we like better? Do you already have a ring or are you in the process of buying a ring, which is it?? I'm still really confused...

She's looking at a cushion that's under 2 cts...or at least she says she is. Gave dimensions of one and asked if it could pass for a 2-ct stone.

HA! If there were a source for 1.5 ct F colored cushions that magically appear to be 2 ct D IF ... sign, um, US ALL up for those. But there AREN'T. Those specs ... they mean things. They aren't random. Lets just hope her friends are as stupid as they are nosy.

If someone comments on my ring, like “Oh what a beautiful ring”, I just say “Yes it is, isn’t it? Thank you” and smile nicely.

If however they ask me questions in a negative way, these are my typical answers.....

What size is that? Big enough to prove he loves me or alternatively Big enough to be beautiful

What color is it? Its diamond colour? What colour did you think it was or alternatively The colour is "beautiful"
(if they say 'Mine’s a G and yours look like mine'- I just say “Whatever you say”

Where did you get it? Eeeemmmmmm.......... in a shop ?!?!?

How much did it cost? (That must have set you back a bit, huh?) Enough to prove he loves me

Is it real? Of course its real. Does it look imaginary?

If they keep pressing, I just keep repeating my answer (or a variation of it) until they get too embarrassed to continue
Eg,

Them: What size is that?
Me: Big enough to prove he loves me
Them: No but seriously, what size/carat is it?
Me: Seriously, its big enough to prove he loves me.
Them: Why wont you tell me?
Me: I have told you – Its big enough to prove he loves me
Them: But I want to know the size/carat weight
Me (losing patience but trying to be polite): I dont know the exact weight, my Fiance made the final choice and hasnt told me exact details - I just know its beautiful and as I've said before.... big enough to prove he loves me
OR - (the not so polite version): Want doesn’t get!
OR - (the pissed of / rude version): why is size so important to you? Does it have something to do with the size of your husband’s **** ?

However, if I know they are about to get engaged (or have just gotten engaged but dont yet have the ring), then I answer all questions freely and fully, cos I’d hate for them to go to a mall store and get ripped off, so I tell them all about the different and fabulous PS vendors and ideal cut diamonds.

LOL!

My generation would not ask. Older people have. They get to say whatever they want at their age. Younger people will. But no one in my peer group (middle age matrons!) has or would ask.

I haven't read her third thread, but OP, at some point in your life, you will come to learn and understand that life is too short to care what the @#$# other people think about you and what you have. Be a duck, have that water roll right off your back.
