Of course I discovered this forum after I bought my ring last week so I have learnt a lot about diamonds over the past few days. I was hoping for some opinions on how much fellow PS''ers would pay for something like this. Unfortunately I could not attach great photos as my camera is being lent to someone at the moment but hopefully the design of the ring (Pave layered heart) comes through. These are the following specs of the ring:

Colour: G
Clarity: VS2
Total Carat Weight: 1.66

I LOVE the right hand ring I bought and I think I paid average price for it, but how much would you expect to pay for something like this?

Here''s another picture....

The only reason I ask people of this forum is I don''t *think* i was ripped off, but wanted to see what other seasoned diamond purchases thought (before I say how much I paid)?

Did you buy it new or used? White gold?

Sorry, left that out...brand new 18k WG

The price would depend upon where you purchased it. . .

Since nobody seems to have guessed, how much did you pay for it?

I feel like I can guess prices for solitaires and eternity bands somewhat reliably, but something like an all-over pave piece is a lot harder, because we don''t an idea of the cut of the pave through the pic (though the other specs certainly look great) or how heavy the setting itself is. Also, in pieces where the design really shines rather than showcasing specific stones, I think the design of the piece or designer has a major impact on the value/pricing - and those things are a lot harder to accurately guess as well since it''s more of a taste issue.

I''m with MC - maybe just tell us? ;)

I think thats exactly what I was trying to look for to see whether there was someway to see the standard price for pave rings after I bought my one. I bought this from an australian designer that would be considered to be one step down from Tiffanys. The price was originally $3,500 and then went down by 50% off. But knowing that jewellery is always inflated in a store, i didn''t feel like I got a 50% off deal, more like I was paying the price that the jewellery should have been in the first place, if that makes sense :)

I have also actaully posted slightly better pictures in "Show me the Ring"

Honest answer - I would have guessed way lower than that. But that was a wild guess without knowning anything at all.

Originally, I was thinking it was from eBay. Some great deals can be found on ebay. There was a beautiful wedding band priced over $4000 on Pearlsman on eBay in my size. It sold for $350 and I offered $320 - I am still kicking myself to this day. I loved it.

I guess thats why I wanted to put the topic on the forum. Its so hard to price pave items because its based on the designer as well. I probably would not have bought anything on ebay becuase of the question of whether the quality / cut / colour of the diamond may not be as authentic say if I had bought it from an actual jewellery. Anyway, everyone has their own preferences :)

Keep looking on ebay, i''m sure you will find something you like for a good price!

Honestly, if it''s already purchased it doesn''t matter. Unless you''re planning to return it if the price point wasn''t exactly a "deal," knowing what value others would assign to it will just end up torturing you

I'd rather buy from eBay than a B&M like Zales / Kay / Helzberg

and they're "actual" jewelery stores. You have a quality guarantee if it's actually a designer piece, like CharmyPoo's band that's sold on Pearlman's.
