So if anyone is willing to answer my dumb question- does the dome shaped side go toward your ear or the flat side with the markings on it, I always thought it would be the domed side as this might make it easier to put on, am I doing this wrong?

There are no dumb questions. No one can know everything! The dome part goes next to your ear.

Ok I really appreciate it, I recently got a new pair in the mail and they'd been placed in the box flat side toward the earring so it got me really confused. The only other backs like this I own were VCA and I am pretty sure they shipped dome side toward the earring. Thanks for confirming. I find those things so hard to use but I know they are better security wise!

I didn’t like them either..but I really like them now. I actually use a plastic disk first before I put the backs on..It not only keeps the studs straight on my ear but they are more secure.

Where did you get your disks?

If you ever need to replace the post and back, I recommend the Guardian II post and back. The release bars are curved and do not hurt your fingers.

thank you, I am finding them a bit difficult to push in to get the back on and off, hopefully I will get more used to it!
