How would YOU spend 11k?

That doesnt look like a K in the photo but a DEF, tricky photos no ?
How does the OEC compare to the Round in price per carat?

The larger faceting and dimensions on old cuts can make them appear whiter. I have no idea about pricing, as each OEC is different. MRB's cuts are all about math -- that's why it's easier to shop by the numbers. I'm not an expert on this, but if you search, you'll find thread about each on PS. :))

I would get a marquis so that I could do something like this for a RHR. My other option would be a round cut montana sapphire.

There are so many diamonds I love that it's so hard to choose but here's one that would be in the running.

I would also love an emerald cut and an oval cut and a fat juicy pear.

A month or so ago when I was still single, I would say an EC, colour H/I, VS1/2, the best cut grade and the largest carat weight I can find.

Right now, I am feeling gooey and romantic, and would opt for a heart cut, H/I, VS2/SI1 as long as it is eye clean, the best cut grade and the largest carat weight I can find.

I love ECs and hearts.

DK :))

I would get this AVC. http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/11107/

It's crazy how much diamond prices have gone up since 2009. Or is it just AVC?!?!! I was quoted almost half that price for 1.48 K VS1 in late 2009!

I don't know if I can answer because these days, I wouldn't spend that kind of money on jewelry. After having children, we just don't make extravagant purchases any more. If I absolutely HAD to spend 11K, I'd choose a medium to fancy intense yellow diamond (probably from DBL).

If I was really just handed $11K, I'd have to think about it for a few days...but, based on my 2 minutes of looking, :cheeky: ...

Either a 1.10 ct ACA round G VS2 OR the largest cushion cut G/H VS2 diamond that $11K could buy.

I have enough round diamonds, but not anything over a carat, so I'd like one larger one, though, I'm also wanting a cushion. It would be a difficult decision.

Oh, this reminds me...I saw a really pretty orange diamond on DBL that was/is (it might be sold...) around $11K that I want. Only problem is it's really tiny for $11K. lol

Prices have gone up A LOT. I bought three diamonds that time or before (I'd have to go look up the dates) and now the same sized diamonds are 1/2 as much more in price than previous. I do want a prong set pendant, but am now wondering if prices will go back down and if I should wait. If prices don't go down, I can't imagine buying anything again!

I would buy this:
http://www.jewelsbygrace.com/loose-diamonds/1-ct-to-2-00/1-71ct-old-european-cut-diamond-gia-k-vs2.html#.UyJ524Xg9Co

"Unmistakably antique! This diamond has very blocky facets, with great light return and sharp contrast. Would make a lovely center stone, and very white facing for its stated color too! No nicks or chips. Measures 7.45 - 7.57 x 4.87 mm."

It's under budget, but faceting and color matter more to me than just a little more size (there is a larger M but I prefer K or better in my IDEAL OEC). And this is the prettiest large OEC I could find.

Oh my, oh my! I just spent 30 seconds considering skipping my mortgage payments for a couple months to up my budget and buy this beauty. :naughty:

Hi,

I would get the largest ACA from whiteflash that the $11,000 would buy. I want vs1 ,G or H color, agso O.(the best cut). I haven't looked at what carat size it would buy, but since diamond Seeker says they have the top cut 3% of all diamonds, that is for me.
I would very much like that. Its a bit snobby to me without going the high end branded route. If one is going be snobby, I'd rather say I have one of the best cut diamonds in the world. Sounds soo good.

I'd get the largest F/SI1 OEC within the budget so that I can make a three stone ring.

I would find - hopefully with some help from Niel - an antique chubby marquise. Similar to the one she is having
Need to think how to set it though :read:

Am I buying something in addition to my current ring, or in place of my current ring?

Doesn't matter. Doesn't even have to be a ring :)

The largest brightest AVR I could find that is eye clean VS2/SI1 and G/H colour. And for the cherry on the cake I would set it in a vintage style rose gold setting!

I would be rushing over to that thread Jimmiane started about the big old-cut heart in the emerald halo, and pocket the 4k.

What thread is this? It sounds delicious. I'd love to check it out, but both PS search and Google search are failing me. ;(
