How would YOU spend 11k?

I do need a fancy light yellow radiant to go in a platinum setting, so that would be a strong contender.

Or, I could go with an AVC and put it in a halo or three stone setting:

Niel, what's on your wish list? Inquiring minds wanna know.
Awesome fun thread! fun to see what everyone is dreaming about.

I haven't answered yet because i am not sure! ha! Its pretty much a tie. If i was just making up the perfect stone .... I would love an amazing K 2 ct emerald cut with a culet you could drive a bus though, but as i don't know any

if I'm talking about real life, id get this ADORABLE chubquise! ( though its sold already i know) comparative specs would have it around the same price, it was below about 10k last year ;(

I found the chubby pear twin(ish) rock at 1.26 that reminds me of your chubquis - Grace has it. Isn't it adorable?

Wow lots of warm AVC and FLY picks

It's crazy how much diamond prices have gone up since 2009. Or is it just AVC?!?!! I was quoted almost half that price for 1.48 K VS1 in late 2009!

There were significant price increases in all diamonds in 2011. Very sad!

Hi,

I would get the largest ACA from whiteflash that the $11,000 would buy. I want vs1 ,G or H color, agso O.(the best cut). I haven't looked at what carat size it would buy, but since diamond Seeker says they have the top cut 3% of all diamonds, that is for me.
I would very much like that. Its a bit snobby to me without going the high end branded route. If one is going be snobby, I'd rather say I have one of the best cut diamonds in the world. Sounds soo good.

Annette
Annette, I believe that top 3% refers to all the TRUE hearts and arrows cut stones. ACA's fall into that category but other top vendors here carry some as well! But I love your choice, G-H VS1 is my personal favorite!

I would get the biggest, whitest emerald cut I could find. I was at dinner last night and someone sitting at the far end of our communal table had one on and I had to go down and ask her to see it. It was lovely and just kept flashing the biggest fat flashes at me all night. I was a little flabbergasted when she popped it off her hand and gave it to me - totally wasn't expecting that from a stranger!

And, while I know the general sentiment around here is the G-H sweet spot for color vs. price, but I love the icy white of D-E-F and would shoot to stay in there.

I do not hold anyones choice against them, don't get me wrong, as i love to see everyones current diamond "personality" but OH MY GOSH i couldn't fathom spending 11k on a stone under 1.5 cts let alone 1 ct!

Im so stingy!

I'm not sure, that's such a broad question that I don't know where to start so I headed for Erica and Grace.
Maybe this - http://www.jewelsbygrace.com/loose-diamonds/2-01-to-3-00/2-13ct-old-european-cut-diamond-gia-m-vs1.html#.UyOjWIVtX4N
Or perhaps this - http://www.loveaffairdiamonds.com/1-70ct-loose-old-european-cut-diamond-gia-k-vs1/

For the entire ring I like this but think long term I'd want something that sits with other rings nicer - http://www.jewelsbygrace.com/rings/vintage-and-antique/1-59ct-antique-marquise-cut-diamond-ring.html#.UyOkOIVtX4M
Over budget but I also like this one - http://www.loveaffairdiamonds.com/1-88ct-old-european-cut-diamond-edwardian-ring-gia-k-vs2/

Am I buying something in addition to my current ring, or in place of my current ring?

Doesn't matter. Doesn't even have to be a ring :)

It matter to me! Because if I was buying something in place of my current ring -- like, I didn't already own it -- then I would buy my ring again and have some money to spare

But if I was spending that kind of money on another piece of jewelery I would either buy a huge very very tinted -- brown or yellow -- OMC or antique cushion and set it in a three-stone of some type.

That fattest, fieriest pear ( that I would have you guys pick out for me) in a delicate rose gold halo ! So fun !

Oh dang, that pretty rock is gone...AND WE CAN"T SEE WHO BOUGHT IT!
GAHHHHHHH
He probably didn't...I believe he wants to build the fund up a little more. But if he did... :) I'm setting it in a simple 6 prong with rose gold shank...for now.

Well say it's not an alternate universe. You are you now with your jewelry collection but someone said "here's 11k. Only For a diamond and you can't chip in any more "

If I could stretch the budget just a smidge, this would also be on the list:

http://www.jewelsbygrace.com/rings/1-53tcw-light-yellow-diamond-halo-ring-by-victor-canera.html#.UyOq7ikazCQ but it is an entire ring, not just one stone.

And this one also fulfills my warm three stone desires:

http://www.jewelsbygrace.com/rings/3-80tcw-daussi-cushion-3-stone-ring.html#.UyOrXCkazCQ

Totally ON to the 3.8tcw daussi cushion!

And I cannot agree more with moneymeister! I too would "sit in patch of sunlight throwing rainbows" from the hugest OEC 11k can buy. Maybe a 3carat warm warm OEC from OWD with pretty flower facets that emits pastels... *dream*

http://www.jewelsbygrace.com/loose-diamonds/1-ct-to-2-00/1-71ct-old-european-cut-diamond-gia-k-vs2.html#.UyJ524Xg9Co

"Unmistakably antique! This diamond has very blocky facets, with great light return and sharp contrast. Would make a lovely center stone, and very white facing for its stated color too! No nicks or chips. Measures 7.45 - 7.57 x 4.87 mm."

It's under budget, but faceting and color matter more to me than just a little more size (there is a larger M but I prefer K or better in my IDEAL OEC). And this is the prettiest large OEC I could find.

Oh my, oh my! I just spent 30 seconds considering skipping my mortgage payments for a couple months to up my budget and buy this beauty. :naughty:

I felt the same way. It's mesmerizing.

oh oh oh...yeah. I don't need a car really, walking is good for me....
Oh, the reflected color...too much!
