I almost beat a woman down last night...so much regret for not doing it.

I woulda called the cops and reported an assault and battery. Sure, it''s more of a civil thing, but I''d want a police report. Then she''d just throw money at me to get me to go away. However, hopefully she''s arrested. I''d be willing to press charges. For being that rude, she deserves to have to say she''s been arrested. Not everyone checks to see if there''s a conviction, so the fact that she''s been arrested and would have to report that (or people could dig it up, including her booking photo) would be worth it.

What a skank! -- that''s my new favorite word for putting down people whose cavalier attitudes or whose rude personalities make my blood boil!

Please tell me that neither of you were moving at all.. Not even an inch an hour when you pulled in front of him.. I drove trucks for a couple of summers in California and you have no idea how hard it is to stop those things.. We leave that extra space for a reason, mostly to not kill people, not to let someone sneak in front of us..
No, neither of us were moving AT ALL. We all were stopped at a red light. . .The guy was simply being a jerk
6.gif

I''m not sure what the deal is, but traffic is becoming very bad here lately. Within the last month, I''ve witnessed such a dramatic increase in drivers running red lights, that I''ve started sitting at a green light for a bit to be sure somebody isn''t going to come plowing through.

Oh wow ame - I think you were very restrained. I totally would have called security, and I like the idea of filing a police report. I have a good story in this vein too:

I was in a nasty car accident a couple of years ago and was on crutches, and my friend and I were out shopping. So we are walking into a store, and this woman cuts in front of us (like right in front of us) for no apparent reason, and then lets the door SLAM on me and my crutches!! So my friend, who is more assertive than I am stormed in after her and started yelling at her. The woman laughed in her face and just walked off
29.gif

Which is where if I were your friend I would have beat the snot out of her. That is so uncool! I have prided myself on ALWAYS helping people through doors in those situations. There is no reason EVER to do that to anyone.

It actually wouldn''t be too hard to find the lady, Ame; afterall, she told you and everybody else within 5 feet about the benefit she is planning. All you have to do is find out the name of the organizer.

I understand you included her weight as a measure of how much PSI was launching you into the door. I am a bit disconcerted about the replies that included her weight as a retort. If she was of a racial background, would that have brought comment? Or if she was noticeably taller or shorter? I know it was meant as a witty retort, but it bothers me to see retorts referring to a physical characteristic of a person, rather than behavior. When making racial comments became UN-PC, it became the norm to make comments about weight. To me, they aren''t any different. Others may disagree, but I wanted to add in my two cents. Thanks.

I think her weight makes a difference in this case, seeing how Ame was slammed against the door. If I was slammed between a moving woman twice my weight and a steel door, I think i would have broken a rib, whereas a woman slightly heavier than me probably wouldn''t have done much damage.

just remember... plastic is pretty durable, so beating on it for extended periods of time might not do much.

I''d include weight if this was my story. There''s such a thing as being too PC. It''s gotten ridiculous now.

I''m what you would call skinny. Not mass challenged. I''m skinny. If this lady were fat, not festively plump or whatever the PC term is, but fat, then it''s gonna matter. Even if I were fat too, getting squashed by a fat person is gonna hurt a hell of a lot more than being squashed by a skinny person.

Ame, I love your story, I''m so sorry it happened to you, but the mental imagery was quite good.
Don''t you hate the fact that if something like that is going to happen, it will happen when you have your nice new, expensive jewelry on? Murphy''s Law......

Hope your rings are ok. It''s like buying a new car. The second you buy a new car, you can park miles away from anyone else and be sure to come back and find a ding and someone else''s paint on it. When you drove your old car, no one would park near it!
39.gif

Yuck....some people are just so inconsiderate of others. The thing that really gets me is that, no matter what you say or how much you yell at people like that, they will NEVER get it. The only thing you can do is really just feel sorry for her or others like her because she will never truly understand the joy of caring about others rather than thinking only of herself.

Edited to add: Oh yeah, but all that is easier said than done in the moment...believe me, I would've gone ape sh** on her too!

Karma is a b*tch. She''ll get her''s.
38.gif

Sorry that happened to you....

I wonder what she would have done if after she said, "I could buy someone like you," you responded with "Then show me the money!"

on.
My pet peeve about politically correctness is that it's terrible to call a person fat, but it's perfectly acceptable to describe a person as anorexic looking or to even go as far as telling a person to their face that they should eat more. It's like until you're actually fighting the urge to stuff 20 cheeseburgers down your throat within a 20 minute period, you're not entire accepted into American culture.

Even if you manage to stuff 20 cheeseburgers down your throat, they''ll still find something wrong with you. I have been called anorexic by total strangers, and after i ate 3 big macs, they called me a bulimic and asked if i needed help puking.

lol!

A grocery checker whom I frequently spoke with yelled out one evening as I was exiting out of the store that I should eat more ice cream as I was too skinny!

I had no idea what to reply with. . .so I informed her that maybe she should eat less (

) Just kidding! lol . . .

ETA: I'm half way through an article on Cameron Diaz and she said her entire childhood was scarred by continous comments regarding her being too thin! People are kind of screwed up, you know that? We spend millions on weight loss products, but it's not acceptable to actually ACHIEVE these weight loss goals. God forbid you actually find a way to be healthy and fit.

Just b/c I'm a smarty pants- assault is the fear of a battery...not the battery itself
9.gif
LOL..Just had to be a smarty pants LOL....

I'm so glad you weren't hurt Ame!!! I don't know how you didn't smack that cell phone out of her hand! She'll get hers...trust me...one day she'll get hers...

And I agree J-Fo...maybe it's a NY, NJ thing ... (and certainly not in Ame's case b/c I would definitely say something)... I'm no wussy, but especially when I'm driving...especially in queens (I drive through corona to get home
6.gif
)...You cut me off? NO PROBLEM, go right ahead..may I have another please! There I sit with the doora locked minding my own business,,,Starting with the wrong people can get you shot!

p.s. and my Louis is real hehehe

It's one of two bags I have and I'll be buried with it LOL

2. Told her to get her 200lb a** or (the c-word) up to the plus sized department where she belonged.
Sorry to hear about such rudeness Amy.

Just posting this for the larger, yet classy ladies who would never do this to someone. There is so much wrong with this woman''s behavior; however, this comment really hurts me. Even though I have no need to shop in plus size stores, I would never find fault with anyone who does. It''s so easy to hurt someone like this. I guess this comment just got to me b/c my friend who is larger is having a hard time with her family. Her grandfather stated to the whole family yesterday (holidays!) that the reason she did not have a boyfriend was b/c she was fat. This woman was rude, no doubt, beyond anything i''ve ever heard; it''s not fair to say "get to the plus sized department where you belong" b/c her weight was in no way the issue at hand, her ugly attitude was. I say in this, Amy, I''m glad you were the smarter person and walked away. We all get back what we put into life. She''ll get hers.

Well, the next time some rude person comments about you being too thin, just retort with that classic Dorothy Parker comeback: you can never be too rich or too thin.

YOU GO FOR THE LOVE OF DIAMONDS!!! I actually missed that comment... Some (a/k/a ME) could argue that the comment had about as much class as the woman's behavior...even though I know it was made out of anger...although I just went back and read and see that ame didn't say that at all...who said that...fess up..Oh, I see, it's crafftygrrl! Hmmpth.
Although it seems from Ame's comment that the fact that she was 200 lbs is a dreadful thing in and of itself. THE HORROR..THE HORROR! Although I guess it could have added to the squish factor..

It''s wrong to label a person thin. It''s wrong to label a person fat. It''s wrong to judge by appearances period. For a police report, it would matter that the woman was larger than you b/c it has caused you physical injury. It is important to the story, because it highlights how you were hurt. I don''t think that is the issue. The issue is calling her a "fat c*" and telling her to "get to the plus-sized dept. where she belonged" would have been wrong. Ame showed commendable strength. People should respect each other for who they are on the inside. Labels make people insecure. Insecurity makes people either dissapear into depression or makes them angry and rude. For the record, "pleasantly plump" or "curvy" or "small" or "lithe" may be politically correct terms, but they are not rude. All we should see are people, not weights, ages, ethnicities, plastic surgeries. If you''re a size two and happy with that! I am so happy for you because a lot aren''t and if you are a size 16 and happy with that, I am happy for you because a lot aren''t. Brunets want to be blondes, Red heads want to be brunets. Let''s be ourselves and be happy and healthy. Because in the end, it is all that matters!

Haha, I get called anorexic all the time. But, when they see me eat, all they usually say is "how does all that stuff fit into your little body?"

As for the assault and battery, I assume ame got squashed against a glass door. All she''d have to say is, "Officer, I saw that woman coming at me and was afraid cuz she didn''t look like she was gonna stop and would squish me. (Assault). Then she did. (Battery)." Nice, even charge.

Oh Codex! You are an evil mastermind now.. LOL..planning your story!!!! Well, how did you see her if she was behind you and squished you into the door????
31.gif
Not to mention a lot of cops in this neighborhood would laugh at you and tell you to call them when you got stabbed or something LOLOL J/K

Ame heard her coming! (loud cell phone voice getting louder and louder until *slam!!*)

Oh now, you''re going to start too kitty?? LOL

I''d say I saw her reflection in the door. Hey, the cop wasn''t there. :)

I guess it''s bad, but I have thought of it before and what my story to the cops would be so that I made sure I got the elements for assault AND battery covered so both could be charged. My excuse is that I went to law school and that''s how I remembered the elements. Yeah, that''s my story and I''m stickign to it.
