I just ordered this strand from Future Fashionista!! I blame it on you gals with your layered tahitians.

I love that these are more drop shaped with the circles giving them a more vibrant color!!!

I like smooth drops, but they don''t look as colorful as circled pearls. So I like all shapes.

On a separate note, can I whine for 10 secs on your thread, CCN? I just got slapped with a S$48.99 (GST + handling fee) bill by Fedex for my PP necklace. This is in addition to the US$26 I paid for shipping!

To think it used to be free shipping and tax-free in the US for me. Looks like I have to take a pearl hiatus - DH offered to buy me a strand from the PP V-day sale and I said "NO" because of the above reasons! Argh....sorry, the whining probably took a minute.

ooh that would burn me up too DD!! Are you back in Singapore already! That darn tax thing just plain sucks!! ....and then the extra fees to boot!! That said, I hope you got your PP strand for a lovely discount as I did to make up for these "sucky" fees!!

And yes, I''m back in Singapore and after having been in Virginia for the past 8 months, I marvel at how expensive everything is in Singapore. I miss shopping in the US!!!

SB, almost everything that''s sold in Singapore is imported from somewhere else. Take a food item for example, a box of Eggo waffles which costs US$2.50 at Walmart cost S$7.50 or US5.30. One pint Ben & Jerry which costs US$3 costs averages S$12 or US8.45. There are no factory outlets or TJ Maxx/Marshall/DSW equivalent here either. Steve Madden shoes cost S$200 or US$140. Naturalizers cost over a hundred Singapore dollars per pair - these are all not designer shoes!

When we drive on Singapore roads in certain key areas/highways, we are subjected to Electronic Road Pricing so each time we enter a gantry, we pay. This can range from S$0.50 (US$0.35) to S$3.00 (US$2.11) and is automatically deducted from the ERP unit in your car so you need to ensure that the cashcard in the unit has been topped up and has money. ERP operates everyday except Sunday and depending on the location, it can operate till 10:30pm! Road tax for my 1600 cc car is S$736 a year i.e. US$518 while my insurance has gone up 20% to US$845 a year and this is in spite of me never having made any claims before. Regular gas here is US$4.67 per gallon....the list goes on.

And let''s not even get started on pearls and the shipping and GST/handling fee I had to pay!

I really miss shopping in the US.

really, I noticed her prices were higher than PP, at least when I looked. Her stuff is great. She does a discount if you negotiate?

Well thanks for putting her name out there. She has been great! I hope she can work out the GST mess for you. Nothing like being surprised with that! I really can''t wait to see how this strand compares to my PP strand. I like how different both of them are.

lol I haven't heard back or anything, but there is a tahitian strand that I like, but am also considering doing a PP metallic freshwater set (the ones on sale)... or both. I dunno. If I do both, that's my budget for the next month or two lol. Or, I might just do nothing and do some more home renovations.
