Oh ellen, what a special ring!!! The stone is indeed very unique. The facet pattern is interesting and I can see what you mean that the stone is a bit mysterious. In some of your pics it looks icey white and in others it looks quite warm. Either way, it''s a beautiful stone and the setting is lovely as well. I hope you are going to keep it in tact, it''s a lovely piece!
