I bought another diamond. I haven''t done that in years and I really hadn''t expected to do that. I grant you it is not a huge diamond, but I do think it is a winner. In buying it I am also becoming a Whiteflash customer for the first time and yet another of the many proud owners of the bellerina pendant which Irina originally designed for Belle.
I recently saw the bellerina pendant for the first time when MC posted about it. I knew immediately that I would want mine on a bale. No sooner did I post that than another poster put up a picture of her gorgeous, custom-made, bellerina pendant. Hers was larger than the standard pendant and accomodates her beautiful stone of over 1 carat. (The usual bellerina is meant for stones of between .50 and .75 carats.)
I decided that I would stay small, but put my money into the stone. I have been picking stones lately with an eye towards being able to use them in future pieces of jewelry if I or my daughter ever want(s) to take my present jewelry apart. I figure if a stone is gorgeous, it can be used for anything in the future.
At any rate, I chose from what was available. I like high color stones and I like clarity of VS2 and above, so I wound up with a VVS2 stone. I always think that a VVS stone is a waste, but this stone is a winner anyway.
It is .76 carat
E color
VVS2 clarity
Has an AGS cert
and is a Whiteflash A Cut Above (ACA) Hearts & Arrows and a five star stone. John Quixote said it is "a firecracker".
I plan to have it set in the bellerina with a delicate bale, but one large enough for me to change chains if I ever wish to. It will come with a 16" platinum chain.
