When I met with Jim at James Allen, I looked at three different stones. One was a D color, one a G and one an I. Face up, I honestly could tell very little difference in the color of the three. I couldn''t tell any difference between the G and the I. Jim even had to break out the calipers and measure them to be certain that he had sorted the stones correctly. When you put the stones on a white background and looked at them from the bottom, you could definitely see the color differences. But, face up? I couldn''t see it unless they were all side by side by side. Spread out on the table, I couldn''t tell any difference.
Yes, I would & did buy an I color stone. Not all I''s are created equal - so a visual is a must.
