When I met with Jim at James Allen, I looked at three different stones. One was a D color, one a G and one an I. Face up, I honestly could tell very little difference in the color of the three. I couldn''t tell any difference between the G and the I. Jim even had to break out the calipers and measure them to be certain that he had sorted the stones correctly. When you put the stones on a white background and looked at them from the bottom, you could definitely see the color differences. But, face up? I couldn''t see it unless they were all side by side by side. Spread out on the table, I couldn''t tell any difference.
This is the experience of most people. Then add the factor of "once set", trained eyes can have a hard time determining color.

Yes, I would & did buy an I color stone. Not all I''s are created equal - so a visual is a must.

I have an F, G & I stone. The only difference I can see is the size

This has been similar to my experience, I can only see a difference between like anything face down. I tested myself because if I could see anything in a stone I would hate it, well I couldn''t even see anything on white paper face up in a near colorless stone. Needless to say I also failed the test when I used diamonds that had been set into a six prong solitaire, couldn''t see a single difference. If I can''t see the color difference with all this intense looking, the lay person that see the diamond on my finger certainly isn''t going to be able to tell, if they even have the knowledge to know what to look for! So for me, I would take the lower color and bigger size.

get a good suntan,
noone will know the difference.
just joshing... it's all personal preference + budget.
