I think Kenny's suggestion of being the change you want to see in the world is a practical one in most circumstances ... but it can be sorta disappointing if you start a thread and nobody responds, or if it peters out before it even hits a second page. P.S. 1.0? You didn't see that happening quite so much. I do think the changes need to go a bit further than that (and I think I was more specific in the last thread of this nature, as were lots of other people, but nothing was ever done about it). Wait and see, I guess ....

I've had this same thought sometimes. I find I have to venture to the other boards on here. I used to be pretty much only Diamond Hangout. But it is what it is and I agree, you should post some topics too. I think the board goes in waves.

I know what you mean. However, I've actually noticed quite a few posters, both old and new, making a valiant effort in the past few weeks to participate more. I think this is a good sign, and will encourage others to post as well. Remember, even if we do lose a lot of the "old" posters, there will be new diamond and gem enthusiasts who will come to the board and hopefully stick around. It's up to us to make the newbies feel welcome, be as helpful as possible, and contribute as much as we can. Call me an idealist, but I think things are on the brink of an upswing.

I've been here for years and don't post often. (probably not enough) I'm forever writing a thesis and if I get on here and get into things, I can literally lose hours. Lately, I'm trying to be disciplined while at the same time contributing more. I love this board and want it to be a success. In spite of the politics, or whatever has happened in the past, I have learned so much here and am forever grateful for that "free" education.

Ditto. I don't mean this specifically at you rhbgirl, because I have echoed your sentiments in other threads, but now I'm starting to get tired of this prevailing "things are different, I miss the old way" attitude. Yeah, things are different, because things change. It is a forum, obviously populated by people, which means we propel the changes. I don't think it's dying. It's in a lull maybe. Lulls happen, life is cyclical. It's the holiday season, people are busy, and lets face it, it's been a crappy two years for everyone. The world is a different place than it was in 2008, the mood has changed. PS just reflects that IMO. It will pick up, good times will roll around again.

The last debacle concerning BGD put the icing on the cake. Something that I would like to see changed right away is lifting the ban on posting vendor identified pics in SMTB. We can talk about the vendor, but we can't show their names in the photos. This makes absolutely no sense to me. Although this is not the biggest issue on PS, it speaks toward a mindset that has worn many of us out.

Thank you for your excellent post, Lisa. There has been a breach of trust. We don't feel heard or respected. Yet, we still come here hoping that things will change. That won't last indefinitely.

Do you give the owners credit for "listening" to "us" and rescinding the ban (it was going to last at least three months and they revoked it completely)? It seems to me like they listened.
