He told me he''d make sure to have it done by our anniversary, the 16th.

I think he just wanted to *make* me something since I''m always making presents for him. He has a family of knitted stuffed penguins, I learned to make chain maille because he liked a bracelet he saw but it was too big, I actually made paper and bound a journal for him... those were the most time consuming. Plus I always make cards for everything, either scrapbook style things or watercolour paintings. So I think he feels he needs to make up for 7 years of hand made cards

I''ve redirected all my engagement anticipation into losing 10 pounds by our anniversary, I''m down 6 so I just might make it assuming I don''t break down and eat a bunch of cupcakes or something

I hope your wait is over soon too. It sounds like this year has been hard for you and I think you need some good news!

How did I miss this thread? All of this waiting is going to be totallly worth it! Have you thought about printing out some stones you like online and asking local jewelers to price match? It could be worth a shot! and that way both you and J would get your way

There''s an idea! We coould try that!! And even if we don''t get the exact same prices, since we''d pay 14,5% local taxes intead of 25-27% import taxes, we might find something within is budget that would be perfect!

Well, now I''m a little mad... He just sent me an e-mail saying he bought himself the XBOX 360 I wanted to get him as his engagement present... He KNEW I was going to give it to him once we''d be engaged, but he said I need this money more than he does because of school. He assured me it won''t change anything for his ring budget (I probably would have hurt him otherwise...

), but I''m still mad. He should have talked to me about it first; he shouldn''t have taken this decision all by himself.

I wanted to give him something and was my choice to spend my money for an engagement gift for him. I might be a student, but here I am the tuition fees are ridiculously low (1k-ish per term, no joke), my parents pay my rent, I work summers, I have no major spendings like car payments and I''m a big saver anyway, so I am nowhere NEAR being in debt or in need of money. I understand his intentions were honourable, but... GAH! I''m mad.

He said that if I really wanted to contribute we can talk about it. The way I see it right now, I''m paying for the ring setting whether he likes it or not!

This morning we agreed that I would pay for the setting. He felt bad for making me mad and he realised his mistake in taking a decision for me that wasn''t his to take, so he apologised and said it was alright. I''m not complaining, it ups the budget for the stone and I get to choose whatever setting I want!!
