I have no clue what diamond I should get for this setting.

Hey guys, hopefully I'm posting this in the right place. Long story short, my girlfriend (soon to be fiance, hopefully) has always loved this particular setting, but she found it on Pintrest and I didn't know anything about it. I was finally able to locate the setting. Its an eiros Tendril engagement ring that can be found here:

http://www.bluenile.com/eiros-tendril-diamond-14k-white-gold-engagement-ring_21297

This whole time I was thinking once I found the ring, I would find it easily with the pictured diamond. I didn't think I would need to shop around for a stone to place in the setting. I would love to try and find a diamond that replicates the one shown in the picture, since that is the ring my girlfriend fell in love with.

It would really mean a lot to me if you guys could help point me in the right direction with this. I'm not sure if I should try and just buy the complete ring from BlueNile? I've never heard of the website and I don't know how reputable they are. My overall max budget is $7,500 which would include the setting which is $1,400. I would like to try and keep it closer to $5,000 if possible.

I guess what I'm really wondering is, can I get that size of diamond for my price range, and will I be sacrificing overall quality going with a stone that big with my price range?

Thank you guys so much! 21297_main_2.jpg

Bluenile is very reputable. And they will not sell you just the setting. So yes, you do need to get the stone from them too.

I'd get this one: http://www.bluenile.com/diamond-search?filter_id=0&pt=sig&track=NavDiaSigRD#diamonds_pid=LD03570397 I would put it on hold immediately (lots of lurkers stealing stones).

All blue nile signatures are guaranteed eyeclean. And setting of that thickness is going to need a large stone to balance it out and that stone gives you the best size/quality combo and gets you the set for $6,000.

The width of the setting is 6.3. And the stone I picked for you is 6.2. So it should give you the SAME look as the picture on Blue Nile in terms of proportion.

It's a good fit for you. And I'd jump on it. :wavey:

Wow, that looks great. I wasnt expecting to find anything so fast. I'm not in a position where I can buy today, but I can soon.

How exactly can I hold the diamond? I can't see anything obvious on the site. Do you know how long I can hold for?

I'd call them and ask them about it. :wavey:

Don't worry though, when you are ready to buy we can find you something lovely, if this one doesn't work out.

I'm chatting online with someone right now, they said I can hold it for 48 hours. Thank you so much for the help! Does it seem like I'll be getting a good deal with this? It sounds like BlueNile is pretty competitive with their pricing. I just want to make sure that I'm getting my money's worth is all. I guess I just want it to sparkle is all.

You are. Blue Nile is very competitively priced and the stone is one of their signature select ones so it's eyeclean. Plus it's only a little shy of a carat and is a great size for that setting. So it's fits your budget and your setting and your lady's desires.

So yes, I think you are good to go!

Re: I have no clue what diamond I should get for this settin

Yes, you have made a great choice by getting the setting she loves and Gypsy has recommended a great stone for your price preferences! Since Blue Nile doesn't offer photos of their stones, it is always safest to buy from their Signature stones when you need to buy there. And I definitely agree with buying stone and setting from the same place.

Oh, and yes, Blue Nile has great pricing! You would pay a lot more in most jewelry stores for a stone of this quality, if you could even find one!

Re: I have no clue what diamond I should get for this settin

I have a Blue Nile Signature diamond and it's got great sparkle, hearts and arrows, and it's eye clean. BN is a very reputable company and I am sure that you and your fiance will be very pleased with the diamond Gypsy found. And the setting is lovely, it's going to be a wonderful ring. Be sure to come back and tell us about it. 8-)

Re: I have no clue what diamond I should get for this settin

Well, it looks like even though I put my diamond on hold, they sold it. :/

Would someone be able to help me find something similar? Any help would be great, I'm pretty upset right now.

Re: I have no clue what diamond I should get for this settin

It might be worth your while either coming back again when you are ready or looking into if Blue Nile have plans where you can pay the ring off over a few months. That way if the amazing people on here find you a stone and you put it on hold, you are ready to move on it otherwise lurkers do snap up suggestions. Otherwise if you are ready, don't worry the gurus here will find you an equally beautiful stone.

Are you ready to buy?

Also, I would call them and make it their problem first. Have them suggest stones for you (maybe they'll give you a discount or something).

I will look for you a little later today.
