I just wanna say -- the random comments thread

Congratulations on the new job, Luckyeshe.

I just wanna say - I really should be getting ready for bed instead of messing around on Pricescope.

DH and I started dating six years ago today.

To this day I still feel flutters in my belly when he looks at me a certain way.
Happy anniversary!

Today is dh''s and my 12th wedding anniversary. He left for a two and a half month long-distance job just yesterday! Yep. My dh is gone for 2.5 months and it''s just me and the kids.

Happy Anniversary, MC. My husband travels a lot but the longest he has been gone is 3 weeks.

I just did something very naughty!!!

I have consigned my solitaire with a view to buying a GOG diamond with the money from the sale.

Anyway, I had some savings which I was going to add to my new stone. Instead I bought an interim GOG AVC!!! Woooohooooo

I am sooooo excited. In a couple of weeks time I will be wearing a 1.43 L/Vs2 AVC!

I wanted my interim diamond to be totally different from anything I have ever owned with a view to what I fancy for my new permanent upgradeable GOG diamond!

Will keep you all posted.

Right now I''m not at all happy with our new place. Before we lived in a neighborhood and could go for walks and easily meet neighbors and make friends. Now we''re out in the middle of nowhere and unless we make friends (at the park or similar) we may not run across any kids from the elementary all summer long. The boys and I will be going to the beach a lot. . .still I don''t think I''ll be able to handle it here. The cost of living (mostly food and sundries) is super expensive. Some stuff is more than double what I was paying over on the mainland. Even the super duper cheap lunch meat packed with preservatives is over $9 a pound! One store had organic milk for $7.00 a jug (and we''re buying regular now!).

Ugh, I''m just not happy here. It was a decision we made for financial reasons, but emotionally it''s not going to work, so I guess we''re going to have to come up with a new game plan. About 2/3 of our stuff is still in boxes and in storage b/c which pretty much sums things up. . .

Oh, and also, since my kids were in elementary, they had been in the same school and we hope to move back so they can again attend that school. They would have just been in a new school for these last few months.

Seems we''re destined for a nomadic lifestyle. . .just gotta get kids back in their old school!

Yeah, this is crazy. We changed our cell provider to get a better plan with text messaging. Up until two weeks ago I use to laugh at those texting all day long, but here I find myself doing it. I''ve learned to text while driving down the road and applying lipstick at the same time!

I am selling two items on craigslist tonight. One item, when I told the lady I think someone else is coming to get it, offered me 20% more than I was asking. sweeeeeeet

We starting doing Skype because my husband goes to Hong Kong and even texting from there is pricey. It works great. Be careful texting and driving girl.

Today was so much better than yesterday and there is only 2 days left until the weekend arrives. Yippee!

A friend and I were very excited to see the opera ''Aida'', which was featured in the Live in HD series from the MET (plays at local theatres all over the country).

It is one of the very few operas that is based in Africa, featuring a conflict between Ethiopia and Egypt.

Imagine our shock and dismay... the play was in Italian, and featured an all white cast... except for the slaves, a few guards and some chambermaids... no one of color even had a speaking role. Though I generally enjoyed the story, I was beyond disappointed with the casting... I was so excited to see an opera with a black cast.

There should be a text-messaging reality show where people show off their talents! lol

I'm not really texting or talking on the phone while driving. The law in WA just changed so a cop can ticket anyone seen driving down the road with phone pressed to face. Before it was a ticket only if the driver was speeding, etc., while talking. I'm SO glad they passed that law. . .still see people driving & chatting, of course!

CA has laws about texting, talking holding the phone too, it's a good thing IMO.

It''s our first wedding anniversary tomorrow and we''re going to Ballymaloe house for the weekend-I am dying to finish work today so I can start packing. The owner runs a cookery school and so the food is fabulous there and we''re booked in for dinner tomorrow night so I''ll need to fast tomorrow

MC -- I''m sorry you don''t like where you''re living now. Maybe once you settle in you''ll come to like it more. Hopefully. What are the things you do like? Maybe you could focus on those things.

Bee -- happy anniversary!

I''m very happy that my parents took my husband and I in while we''re looking for an apt., but my mom is driving me crazy. It''s only been 3 days so far, so this isn''t a good sign. I hope we find something soon!

Happy anniversary bee*! Boy did that year go by quickly. I hope you and your hubby have a wonderful weekend.

We bought two wooden cabinets and a large mirror with a wooden frame for the bathroom. After we got them, I decided that they''d look so much better with a layer of shiny varnish on, instead of the mat finish they now had. What is more, in a moment of overwhelming enthusiasm, I decided it''d be a great idea to do it myself.

Hubby shook his head a little, but he rolled up his sleeves and helped me. He''s such a sweetheart. (Even though he took one look at me in an old overall, with rubber gloves and a mask on my face, and he went into whoops of laughter. I still had my diamond studs on though. Always classy!

)

The good news: I was right. The cabinets and the mirror frame do look fantastic and we did a pretty darn good job too (even if I say so myself.)

The bad news: I''m still staggering around like a drunkard. The smell of that varnish was so stong, it went straight to my head, even with the face mask on. Hubby just said I remind him of Captain Jack Sparrow in "why is the rum gone" scene.

I think that there should be a default message that pops up before sending a text that says "are you sure, I mean, REALLY sure, you want to send this text?" I just feel like that would save a lot of "OMG. Did I really do that" moments. LOL
