I just wanna say -- the random comments thread

I made the most epic Pandora station ever in order to motivate me to clean up my apartment. Instead I'm sitting here, listening to music, and trying to guess the next song.

Wondering if I should go see Water For Elephants. Hmmm...

Just saw it -- it was a bit long. and there was violence towards animals (and people) which I usually find difficult to watch. I really like Reese, and Robert isn't too shabby to stare at for an hour or more but maybe I just wasn't in the mood for this particular movie yesterday? It wasn't bad just didn't wow me....

LV - I might start that! Right now we just have the starts of four kinds of peppers, and basil. I planted some okra and bok choi this weekend, and I got a papaya tree!!!!! The kumquats have produced all the fruit that they will this year. Our tomatoes are thriving. You could probably do some herbs indoor and out, and you might try potted veggies? I've got the bok choi potted. Also peppers would do well for you!

We're doing the rows this weekend now that we finally have a tiller!

I picked a great day to fly.

My mom wants me to make sure people know I'm Canadian.

She suggested wearing a hockey jersey and speaking french!

"Pardon me! Thank you kindly! Its aboot time! This security line sure is long eh?"

Of the 9 voters in my polling station this morning, 3 couldn't figure out how to vote.

You hand over your id, you get a ballot and a pencil, and then you go behind a piece of cardboard. The ballot lists the local party leaders and their parties. Requires one x in pencil. That's it.

Face palm

Okay, thanks. Because of my schedule, I ended up seeing "Hanna" instead. It was really good...a bit different. The girl sure kicked some serious butt!

My son is home from the hospital and recovering......the pediatric surgeon (who is supposed to be THE BEST at Yale NH Hospital) slipped while cauterizing his incision and accidentally left a DEEP and NASTY burn on his skin in an area that WASN'T getting operated on!!!!! :errrr: :nono: ;( :(sad The burn is 2.5 inches long and a quarter inch wide.

The surgeon has apologised PROFUSLEY. He insisits this has NEVER happened to him. I believe him. He has gone out of his way to make sure my baby is ok. He has called me at home, met me in the office, called burn specialists. I told him it was ok. I do not need to forgive him because there is nothing to forgive....it was an accident. I understand it wasn't done on purpose. What confuses me is that people (my friends and some family) think that there is something wrong with ME because I am not fuming angry and have forgiven him so easily.

How would you have reacted?

accidents happen! I tend to agree with you... what can you do? sue him? get some money? he feels terrible, it was a mistake and gaining money from it won't change the burn... (i mention the money part because most people would look to start a lawsuit in this situation)

random thought. I get married in 56 days!!!! :appl:

Philly Savory Garlic Cooking Creme is worth a try... YUM

I am having the most wonderful time creating exciting, fresh and healthy salads for the past few days! So many fun, yummy veggies and fruits to experiment with. Because of the insane amount of veggies and good protein I am eating, my carbs have been reduced to two servings a day and I have ZERO cravings for anything carby. I feel so fantastic, I can't believe how sluggish carbs make you feel.

Wow, that's great Kama. I am a carb girl and I wonder occasionally if it would make a difference if I cut some of that out and tried to eat more protein. Problem is I don't like protein as much as I do carbs. Most of the carbs I eat are complex so I wonder if that's just as healthy...Good luck with your continued success!

I love M&MS. that is all :)

I am absolutely a carb girl myself. I can cut out chocolate, but I can't cut out carbs. Even when I had the motivation of fitting into my wedding dress - I couldn't stop stuffing my face with carbs! I do try to eat mostly complex cards with a lot of fiber. Even so, cutting it out to less than 2-3 servings a day has made a huge difference. And to be honest, I didn't start this with a 'I need to lose weight/I need to dtop eating carbs' mentality. I actually ate yummy salads for lunch 3-4 days ina row and got excited about planning my next salad when it hit me - I was eating less than 1500 calories, getting almost no processed sugar and carbs and I DID NOT MISS ANY OF IT. Which is why I decided to continue and see how long this can last!

Also, re: protein, I used to be vegetarian for a very long time. I only started eating meat on a fairly regular basis recently because of my meat eater husband. There are lots of substitutes for protein - avacado, egg, lentils, soya. Play around with some of them and see what tickles your fancy. You'd be surprised!

All of our neighbors opened up their pool last weekend - which means it's official - SUMMER IS HERE!!!

We've never opened a pool before, so we're probably going to hire someone to do it for us. Hoping next weekend is HOT AND MUCKY!!

I have to take my cat to the vet tomorrow  .

Last time I took him he peed in his carrier on the way over and ... pottied in it on the way home :(( .

It was all over him. We had to give him a bath...the whole thing was not my idea of a good time
and I'm really not looking forward to it. ;(

Today sucks.

I just dropped DH off at the airport, and my phone died before I got home.

WHY does every single phone I take possession of kick the bucket after just a few months, and always at the most inconvenient time???

:angryfire: :angryfire: :nono:

I'm grumpy.

Is it Friday yet????

Sevens were on Gilt today. I miiiiiight have bought a pair. They'll go great with my awesome new sunglasses that I spent way too much money on.

Urgh. Somebody smack me, please. I'm eating rice and beans and tuna forever (and by "forever" I mean "for the next week" because then it's pay day). On the plus side? I have a few returns that should hit the bank account soon AND this is all fun money and not needed anywhere but my savings account. But NZ is coming up and there are a few things I want for the trip that I'm now $99 farther away from...

Can I gush over a saucepan? A $5.99 saucepan?

I got this: http://www.amazon.com/T-Fal-Specialty-4-5-Inch-Nonstick-Wonder/dp/B000GWG14Q/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1305443097&sr=8-1 last week - it was exactly what I needed for free shipping from one of those marketplace-ships-through-amazon vendors.

I have used it every. single. day. since I got it. To make eggs - and to sautee half an onion, to roast garlic and peppers, to heat chocolate, to melt cheese, today I grilled a tomato and some mushrooms for a snack.

I am in LOVE with this thing. It's tiny - just big enough to scramble two eggs and not spill stuff over the sides.. and 'cause it's so small it's *super* quick to clean so I actually - y'know, grilled the tomato, instead of sighing and drowning it in balsamic vinegar to stomach it raw 'cause the big pan was just too much work...

I have that pan, it is probably my most used pan....it's just SOOOOOO convenient for quick cooking of smaller things.

My car got pelted with hail on the way to church this morning! In Sacramento, California, in the middle of May, and several hours later, I'm still hearing thunder in the distance. I know it's not unusual to have rainstorms or hail throughout the summer in other in other parts of the country, here we're usually well on our way to a long, hot summer with nary a cloud in the sky.

And unlike other parts of the country, this was only BB-sized hail, and it did a nice job of giving my car a much-needed cleaning!

Yssie - I'm off to Home Goods now. I'll be keeping an eye out for that pan!
