DH got me totally hooked on The Event and I just figured out it's been cancelled.... After we watched the season, I mean SERIES, finale. Dang it all!

Wait, what??? We've watched the show religiously every week and had no idea it had been cancelled.

I googled the show after we watched the last episode to see what chatter there was about the cliffhanger and found it's been canceled the week before. So ticked! I wish they'd just switch it to the SyFy channel or something. There are so many ways that story line could go! I don't watch very much TV, but that was one show I really enjoyed!

Student loan debt SUCKS.

That is all.

Wow, I'm still surprised. It's funny, I don't even really like Sci-Fi stuff but this show is really good. What a bummer it's over.

No hidden meaning. You have my wholehearted agreement.

Yssie - There are complementary plants he could plant that would help keep them at bay b/c they don't like the smell. He could also try putting cans along the fence lines. If they hear them they get scared and don't want to jump the fencing. Another option is for him to find another oppressive scent that he could put out, such as a carnivorous scent, or even leaving articles of his clothing that he's recently worn along the fences. Deer are very wary and don't like change.

At least you don't have my current problem, which is a skunk coming to the front porch to smell our new roses. It STINKS!

I'm giggling again ::)

Thanks for the ideas - I'll tell my dad, I'm guessing he will be happy to hear them. Cans filled with rice or beans are easy enough to do, and I am reading that cloves are a good companion plant.

Oh, okay!
And yes, there's one particular thread I'm thinking of. Unless you're a licensed professional in the area of mental illness and have actually MET and assessed the person in question, please try to refrain from diagnosing this person. Especially on a diamond forum. Man, just thinking about this more is making me grumpy.

Ha yeah we get a lot of that on PS, don't we? I also think it's strange when people ask for medical advice here. Maybe try talking to a doctor? In real life?

This morning as I was eating my breakfast and watching the news the birds went absolutely crazy outside. We have a small birdbath in the back and a number of different breeds of birds kind of fight over who gets to go all the time so I figured someone didn't want to wait their turn. When it didn't stop after a minute I got up to see what was going on and it turns out that a Hawk had used the birdbath as a drive-thru and picked off one of the small birds for his breakfast. He was sitting on top of the one he got in the grass and all the other little birds were dive bombing him. I didn't even know we had hawks in this area!! poor little birdie, he friends were too late to save him :((

I'm excited that there's new Hoarders seasons on netflix.

Now I'm kinda depressed that I'm excited about new Hoarders seasons on netflix.

Thing -- Yeah, we do get that a lot here. I don't mean to sound holier-than-thou or anything. It just gets to me every time someone here calls whomever they're complaining about "bipolar," or says he/she's an addict, etc. without knowing anything about that person. Sure, people do some strange things and maybe they do have a clinical diagnosis, but maybe not. Who are we to say? Sorry, I'm grumpy.

There are definitely some threads I don't post in - my mental health is worth more than my 2c! Usually I can't keep myself from reading through them though :errrr: :eek: ;(

I am *determined* to get over this phobia of spider webs, so that I can enjoy camping, a picnic - heck a walk in the grass - without constantly peering around trying to spot and avoid cobwebs. Unfortunately with years of training I've become really good at finding them!

A website told me to "humanise" a spider and try to relate to it. Hogwash, right? Well - two days ago I found a tiny little spider in a tiny little web in the corner of the kitchen behind the refrigerator.. I have named it Fred. I talk to Fred every morning while I make my egg.

Fred has survived for two days, which is one day and 23 hours longer than he otherwise would have. I don't particularly mind *Fred*, he's out of the way and tiny and very easily squished when it gets to be too much. And I'm no more inclined to play nice w/ other spiders or their webs, but I guess it's only been two days...?

df - aww ::)

my dad set up a deer cam - he's caught them eating the tulips and grape plants. He set up this wire fence thing to stop them - they shredded it and kept gnawing happily for a good hour.

Ellen's "squirrel" thread had a lot of great suggestions for dealing with unwanted wildlife.

I'm working with my aunt on a wedding cake/grooms cake today and tomorrow. I spent SIX HOURS frosting and smoothing the four tiers of the wedding cake and I am beat! I haven't done one in a few years and now I remember why. They are hard work!

Do you have pictures of the gorgeous cake???

Tomorrow! It's still sitting in individual tiers all over my dining room table and kitchen bar! And I have 200 uniced, but filled cupcakes all over my dining room! The cupcake filling is a cocunut cream that is super light. The icing is going to be an almond buttercream and they get a cocoa roasted almond on top. They're designed to taste like an almond joy candy bar. My aunt's creation, not mine. The cake is lemon with lemon curd between layers and a vanilla lemon frosting. It smells divine.

I have three cats and I play favorites.

And worst of all, the cats know it.

I'm going to be a horrible parent.

I try not to show it! They get equal petting and treats. There's just an indefinable something with one of the cats. He's my little shadow so he tends to get more attention because he's always at hand.

He's next to me on the couch right now.

He's staring at me.

He totally knows that we're talking about him.

Ha I know exactly what you mean! My baby girl Olivia (in my avatar) loves me so much, and she knows I love her to bits. (She uses that knowledge to get away with whatever she wants!) I got her when she was a little kitten and she used to nurse on my fingers and eyelids! (No idea how she started doing that but it was ridiculously cute.) ::) I actually bought her a little kitten bottle and kitten milk, but my sister wouldn't let me keep giving the bottle to her because she was too old for it. :((

Awww that sounds adorable! The bottle sounds like the cutest thing ever.

My cats used to belong to DH's ex so I haven't had them all that long. Riley used to be very very anti social. He usually hid, he destroyed the furniture, and he would bite people. DH didn't even want me to take him out of his cage because he was worried I would get attacked. I don't know why, but for some reason the little guy LOVES me. He looked so sad in his cage so I let him out and he tried to climb under my shirt. I showed him how to use a scratching post and he took to it no problem. He's completely socialized now and hasn't lashed out since moving in with me over a year ago. I have no idea why he was acting like that before, but now he's the sweetest little guy ever.

He's a little monkey though, he'll steal the other cats food and then when I say NO! and give him the stern face he runs over to his scratching post, scratches it, and looks up at me with the big innocent eyes. Its like he's saying "Look at how GOOD I am!"

I'm done with the cakes! The cake looked great and the cupcakes came out better than we expected. I ended up buidling/decorating the entire wedding cake and we did team work in the cuppies. Here's a couple pics for fun.
