Saw the funniest bridezilla moment today.

A bride had rented a pavilion at a public park for her wedding. That's fairly normal and there are weddings in this park all of the time. What wasn't normal was her dad and male relatives evicting everybody from the entire park! Her dad had his car parked in front of the entrance to the parking lot and he was turning cars away (that's how we ended up chatting with him...we were going for a picnic). Other men in tuxedos were approaching groups on the playground and telling them to leave. They even left notes on the cars in the parking lot telling them to leave or they would be towed. He was talking about trying to get a private security company to come and "bounce" the park. Funniest thing to watch.

Sorta felt bad for them when the police showed up.

Apparently you can't threaten and harass people in a public park.

Thanks guys- we worked hard on it. We were really happy with how it turned out. Didn't love the college themed cake toppers, but hey, it's their cake not mine!

Seriously? I would have liked to see their faces when the cops showed up.

The looks were priceless. Apparently the bride had told them that she rented the entire park. This park is huge with 4 or 5 pavilions, a playground, a picnic area, and over a mile of hiking trails. Another pavilion was rented for a birthday party later in the day so I'm not sure how that turned out...

Your cake is gorgeous by the way. You are very talented!

Am I the only person here who wouldn't get up at 5am on a Saturday, to show up at 6am at the park, to start a "Fun Run" before 7am?

I was stumbling out of bed at 7am to drag my fandango through the shower before heading to work, and a whole bunch of people came running/walking past the house. My eyes weren't even all the way open yet.

I fail to see what the "Fun" is in doing anything at that hour. Except watching a sunrise. Or sipping coffee. That's as active as I want to be at 6am, ever.

Or am I just lazy?

That would have been pretty funny to see!

I got married on the beach and we put my BIL in charge of watching the ceremony site once it was set up and before the guests started to arrive. He was just supposed to make sure that no one messed with our stuff, well He took it upon himself to play bouncer and get rid of anybody that came within 20 meters of the ceremony site. People we trying to put down towels etc and he would come up and say "what do you think your doing? Can't you see there's going to be a wedding here?" Now my BIL is this huge ex AFL (think NFL) football player and nobody was going to mess with him so they all left pretty quickly! Oops. :cheeky:

No there is absolutely nothing fun about that! I like my sleep ins and waking up early to exercise is not on my list of fun weekend activities.

April: Holy, crap, woman! You are a woman with many a talent!

Holly: Yeah, not happening. Bed>>>>>>>Running at 7am.

Yssie: I do that too! We used to have tons of spiders in our condo building on the other side of the window. Since we were 20 floors high, those spiders were there to stay. I named the spider 'Daisy', and I named our gerbara daisy plant 'Spidey'. Identity crises, much?

I have a 3.5 hour intense interview tomorrow. It's mostly knowledge based, and the drug company has a bunch of crazy drugs with a multitude of drug interactions and side effects. I only booked the interview on Friday, and left studying until just now. Which essentially means I'm going to have to pull a semi all-nighter. *sigh*

And I don't even know if I really want this job.

Kama - Lol

Fred - is not yet dead. DH is totally baffled.

Good luck on your interview tomorrow!!

Thank you, Yssie and Thing2! I've spent the last few weeks cramming for the GMAT, so I am just about done with studying. I honestly don't know how I managed school, it seems like it was eons ago.

Getting a late start today because I was up half the night reading a mystery novel. Haven't done that in a long time.

I love long weekends!

The phone saga continues. I was in a Telus store today and about to sign a 3 year contract with the understanding that my phone could be unlocked in 90 days (for use with a UK sim when I travel). This is what I was told by two reps over the phone as well as people in store. I asked to have the 90 day unlock in writing and at that point I was told they couldn't give it to me in writing in store. So I called the helpline again and asked for written confirmation to be sent to my email. This time I was told if wasn't possible to unlock a phone while its on contract. Frustrating how the story changes when I want something in writing.

I watched The Notebook (again) last night...Noah is so cute! And Lonn isnt bad either. What a tough choice she had to make!

Yey! After talking to 9 different reps (2 stores, 2 online chats, and 5 phone reps) I was emailed a list of phones that can be unlocked. Why do these things have to be so hard?

Have you tried googling unlocked phones? We needed an unlocked phone recently and when googling found dozens of them for pretty darn reasonable prices. As it turned out, DH's blackberry that we'd canceled the contract on could be unlocked, but you can buy them unlocked easily these days.

What plan/sim card are you going use for your int'l calling? We poked around and ended up getting one from Telestial. For where we're going, we're able to receive incoming calls for 19c/min and incoming texts are free. It's a little more costly to dial out/text out, so we're going to use Skype for that.

And we're backed for our trip. It was a frigging nightmare. I have three large bags and one smaller bag. Of the three large bags, one was just under 50 lbs and the other two were a total of 14 lbs over!!!! :o Sooooo, I pulled out ANOTHER bag for a carry on and moved stuff into it. I was really proud of myself until I realized that we were missing things that HAD to go into the bag. So we had to go thru and get rid of stuff. I'm normally not an overpacker, but being gone for as long as we're going to be gone, I'm not packing outfits here, I'm packing my entire frigging winter wardrobe. Or at least half of it. Sigh. We're within weight limits now.

I think Canada is a bit behind on unlocking phones. To make matters worse, DH is a huge apple fanboy and really really wants me to get an iphone 4 so we can sync our phones. I honestly don't care which phone I get, as long as it can be unlocked. So I've been running around trying to find out how to get an unlocked iphone on contract so I don't have to pay the $659 to get an unlocked phone directly from apple. To make things even more complicated, there are only 2 carriers with service at my parents house. I would like to be with one of those carriers so I can use my phone when I visit them! The reps for one of the carriers claim they can unlock the iphone after 90 days on contract without voiding the warranty. When you read the fine print, you see that actually can't unlock and iphone without voiding the warranty, just samsung phones and blackberries. The new plan is to look in to the Nexus S and try to figure out which version will work in the UK.

I have a UK sim card with 3. I think its 200 anytime minutes, unlimited texting, and unlimited Data for 16 pounds per month. I don't remember the cost of international calling, but its around 15 cents/minute if I recall correctly. I know the UK is awesome for cheap cell service and I rarely visit other parts of Europe. At the moment, I borrow an unlocked blackberry when I'm in the UK, but I'd rather just have one phone to use everywhere.

We're going to South Africa. It's not a pleasure trip- we're going to be doing volunteer work until September, hence all the luggage! I'm sure we'll have some time for side adventures, but it won't be all fun and games all the time, though I wish it were!!

Well now that just bites! My one last plug for Tellestial is that they pick up whatever service provider is the strongest wherever you are, so it's very convenient from that aspect.

That actually sounds really cool! I will remember that if I'm planning on traveling to multiple countries on the same trip.

I finally picked out the Nexus S because it comes unlocked. I went to buy it today and the computers at the store crashed. I have a coupon that expires tomorrow so this is just something else to add to the list of cell phone woes. I'm looking up alternate stores right now to try and use my coupon.

Ok, so maybe not all fun and games, but it definitely sounds interesting!

We had a long layover in Frankfurt today so we went into the city. It turned out to be a public holiday and the place was DEAD! So disappointing!

So the ex saga continues...

I've never actually met or spoken with her before. I just know about her from the inappropriate facebook/text/instant/voicemail messages she leaves for DH (they creep him out and he shows them to me so I'm in the loop). He has since blocked her from every means of personal contact.

So I'm off today and offered to answer the phone for DH's business while he's in meetings. I was shocked when the ex called the business line! She has started an event planning business and needs a website and investors. She expected him to create a website for her for free, manage the business email accounts, and invest in her new business! She was pretty annoyed when I answered the phone. I was a bit evil and gave her the response I would give any other client: I quoted DH's hourly rate, associated design fees, and suggested that she use the online form on his website to describe the project so he could return a more complete quote.

She didn't like being treated like any other customer and started screaming at me.

I'm such a bad person, but I have to admit I enjoyed it after all of her efforts to destroy my marriage.

DH is pretty mad about the whole thing and we're stumped about how to block her from contacting us through the business.
