Speaking of eyes, I'm going nuts.
Floaters and flashes since Monday. Went to a retina specialist Tuesday I have a posterior vitreous detachment in my left eye. I asked how I got this doc said well you either get hit in the eye or get old!
I didn't get hit in the eye ;(
Seems this is more common in near sighted folks and I'm at an increased risk of a retinal tear for the next 6 weeks, after that I should be fine.
I find I keep reaching out to swat a fly that isn't there!!!

Also today is the 39th anniversary of my HS graduation!! Boy has time flown!

Me too, 1974! :o

Elisa - That vitreous detachment thing hit me 10 or more years ago -- and no way was I old at the time! :wink2: Scared me until I my optometrist checked it out and told me it was normal... The light show went on for a few years and eventually stopped altogether. I have to admit that they were kinda cool and I kinda miss them now that they've stopped.

The vitreous detachment didn't interfere with my getting Lasik done last year! SB, you're going to love the results!!! Good luck!

Thank you!
I'm saving my pennies for LASIK, SB let us know how it goes;)

Gosh,I haven't been here for a while and I am just hooting with laughter here!!
Circe - I love that "FFS" phrase -- I can ASSURE you that it will probably become one of my favourite email expressions now (watchout those of you I email!! )

Elisateach - I think you DID get hit in the eye and forgot about it because I have graduated from HS a mere 36 years ago so I'm just as young and the floaters I see --- well, lets just say I'm passing them off as inspirational spirits!! (ya, and if you buy that, I've got some swamp land in Florida I can sell you ---wait---- Where about's do you live again?? tee hee!)

SB - I hope it went well!! you have more guts than I do to go thru that, but more power to you for being so brave and entering a life of 'glasses freedom'!! I'm jeally!!! (but I'm a wimp, so I soldier onwards with my super thick rx, progressive, hi density lenses... :(( )

CharmedOne - stay strong. Sometimes we just have to have a big old freak out for those who love us, to HEAR us. I hope your health improves, or at least stabilizes and that the whole fam-dam kicks in and helps you out :halo:

Dragonfly --- OMG!!! I have the same coworker!! She sits just on the other side of our quad cube and talks talks TALKS all day long... LOUDLY... about personal stuff... after arriving 1/2 hour late every day because, dontcha know, there was traffic/wind/rain/sun/stars/clowns on the highway... WHATEVAH! ... so in my mind, I have 2 requests for you: A) SHUT THE "EFF"-UP (and I *am* a morning person!) and B) if you know you are going to be late every freakin' day --- GET UP EARLIER!!! omg - its not rocket science lady!!!

I took a vacation day to be at home and just chill out - maybe read, maybe go for a mani-pedi, nap - the world was my oyster!!!

Well, our sweet little "Lily-pad", who is almost 8 months old, felt she wanted to be with her people at 520 this morning. Her "people" did not want to be with her at that time, FYI, so DH was able to silence her for a bonus 10 minutes (which I'm sure in dog-brain, is the equivalent of a lifetime minus one day....) and as of 530 this morning, I've been up. Ok, not too far off of our normal routine but by 8am I had totally impressed myself - I'd re arranged furniture in the family room, cleaned the powder room, cleaned the kitchen cabinets/knobs/counters/table...etc., used lysol wipes on all of our regularly touched surfaces, cleaned our master bath, visited PS, emailed some friends... I was a powerhouse of activity!! I've now also completed a total of 3 hours of weeding/trimming trees/gardening in our front yard and I'm exhausted. :snore: Ah - but the front now looks FABOUSH compared to yesterday!!! WEEEEEEEeeeeee - Enerchi, you da MAN!!!

lasik was GREAT!!!!!!! So not a big deal at all. Right after I slept for 3 hours (thank you drug induced coma) woke up seeing near perfect!!! I felt so good that I started to read a book. I'm beyond thrilled with the results. At my follow up this morning the eye doctor said my sight might be a bit fuzzy for a few more days but everything looked good. I'm so glad I did this and only wish I had done it years ago. I have meaning wearing contacts/ glasses since I was 12!

I would gladly give someone $1,000,000,000 to deal with getting a summer wardrobe for a 13 year old girl!

Okay.... so I don't actually have that kind of $$$ but if I did I would gladly pay!

The music! The perfumes! The impossibly short everything! The "shirts" that are completely see through! The "shirts" that cover less than my bra

TP I got you covered! I take my 15 year old cousin shopping all the time because her Mom and her can't agree on anything. I fear for this day when it is my daughter and I as I'm sure we will butt heads, but younger cousins/ friends I seem to be good with!

Only 3 hours till my eyeballs get fried..ummm I mean lasered...meaning I'm having lasik. Can't wait to never wear glasses or contacts again!

I've been strongly considering this myself. What did you think of the procedure itself? How was the cost? And recovery?

Manderz,

It was wonderful. I had a little anxiety about the actual procedure so they make you take 2 valuim about an hour before it starts. From when I entered the bldg to leaving was about 30 minutes. The actual procedure took about 4 minutes. Doctor was wonderful and the drugs just helped your relax. I have had 2 kids so I didn't really find lasik that intimidating to begin with. It was a little awkward when they taped your eye open but it was just slightly uncomfortable. I would truly recommend this to everyone and anyone. After surgery I went home and they tell you to sleep for 2-4 hours. Woke up seeing great. I watched tv with the kids (DH woudlnt' let me out of bed), read a few books etc. The next day I had a follow up appt and I was 20/20 with a little haze they said would go away in a week. Overall I am truly thrilled and as stated before wish I had done this years ago. 24 hours post opt I'm totally back to normal- just can't go swimming for 2 weeks and I do prefer to wear sunglasses outside a bit more then usual, but that is all. Cost was about $1800 per eye which seems to be the going rate in my area. Insurance covered 100% of my prescriptions minus the Refresh lubricant eye drops (around $20 for pack of 2). I take eye drops for a week and then the Refresh for about 6 weeks. Price covers the pre- opt labs, the surgery and then the post opt appts (at 1 day, 1 week, 1 month and 6 months). Hope that helps!

Oh following surgery I had some mild dryness (went away immediatley with the prescription drops) but after that I was completely fine. No dryness, grit etc.

Sounds amazing! I'm pretty intimidated by the whole thing, tbh. Have you experienced halos, glare, or double vision? I'm very nervous about this aspect.

"Age and treachery will overcome youth and enthusiasm" even applies to the cat world, apparently. So far, I have given my young cat 3 (THREE!) sponge rubber balls to play with. And so far, my 11-year-old cat has carted off and hidden every. single. one. I have searched the house, the closets, under and behind all of the furniture. And I can't find even one of them. wth! So, it's off to the pet store I go.

Nope no issues at all. It was slightly hazy yesterday morning but the doctor told me that might happen for a few days. Today has been perfect with no haze.

The day has come! I can finally pick up my Van Craeynest ring!

Of course, no childcare today, so that means me and the teething toddler are going to be on the subway for an hour+. It will be an ADVENTURE.

Right? Right???

Also, Rosebloom, I just noticed your siggie, and I am flattered!

Can't wait for pics!!!!

I'm so glad you're ok with me quoting you. I tried to ask in a thread but it got buried I think. It's such a great sentiment (exactly what brought me to PS!) and articulated so beautifully. You're one quotable gal.
