I just wanna say -- the random comments thread

I long for the days when one didn't need a chainsaw and TNT to open packaging.

You Don’t Just Lose Someone Once…

You lose them over and over,
sometimes many times a day.
When the loss, momentarily forgotten,
creeps up,
and attacks you from behind.
Fresh waves of grief as the realization hits home,
they are gone.
Again.

You don’t just lose someone once,
you lose them every time you open your eyes to a new dawn,
and as you awaken,
so does your memory,
so does the jolting bolt of lightning that rips into your heart,
they are gone.
Again.

Losing someone is a journey,
not a one-off.
There is no end to the loss,
there is only a learned skill on how to stay afloat,
when it washes over.

Be kind to those who are sailing this stormy sea,
they have a journey ahead of them,
and a daily shock to the system each time they realize, they are gone,
Again.

You don’t just lose someone once,
you lose them every day,
for a lifetime.

@Autumn in New England, I didnt want to threadjack @RetroQT’s thread but want you to know that sometimes getting finding a new
job after many years with a company turns out to be a really good thing. I was in a similar situation years ago and had workedfor a large corporation for 30+ years and had started as a teenager (having worked different positions during the course). I was a wreck starting a new job partly because I loved the people I worked with. I ended up being even happier at the new job and worked with wondeful people who ended up also being great friends thru the years. I’m hoping when the time comes that you change jobs you have the same experience.

How thoughtful of you to offer such encouraging words! I hope my experience is as positive and fulfilling as yours was, when the time comes. At my current job, I've come to really dislike the monotony of the work itself, but absolutely love my coworkers (and my boss). I think leaving them will be the hardest part... and the unknown can be scary. But I am going to look at it as a new opportunity thanks to your post. I appreciate you!

As an update to Lucky: We had the surgical consult.

She agrees with my vet that its LP. Lucky is also showing signs of neurological paralysis in her back end.

If I do nothing, she will probably go pretty quickly. However it will be very painful and she could basically smother to death. I don't want that.

If I do the tieback, she will get a year maybe 2 at best guess if her hind end dosen't further degenerate to where she can no longer get around, but, she will be more comfortable being active and will be able to breathe better.

And she wants to be active. She wants to do things and her body is fighting her.

I feel like I have to give her the chance to live if thats what she wants to do. Seems like she does. To put it into context; surgery is the cost of a decent pair of earrings...lol So there's no reason for me to not do it. Its not like cancer its mere months (greyhounds tend to go quickly after diagnosis because they're very stoic). But, while the surgery will help her, there are lots of risks with aspiration being the biggest of them. I already do most of the things needed (raised feeding bowls, no dry feeding, and her treat of the evening if partially frozen so it makes her take her time) The surgeon sugarcoated nothing, explained the procedure and what I could expect post procedure. Even told me that she dosen't sedate all the way to ensure post surgical aspiration is minimized. (that actually makes me really happy honestly)

We will get blood tests again prior to rule out anything weird with the liver and kidneys. It could be some elevation from the trazadone in which case, that can be managed, or, could be a weird anomaly that has nothing to do with anything.

Lucky is very begrudgingly using the harness. At the vets office today she went to everybody but to me for comfort...lol Her is mad. She's stayed that way until we got to McDonalds and she got her french fries.

First time ever I (we) got my (our) medical appointment(s) date wrong. Both my husband and I had appointments this morning and we both thought they were tomorrow morning. The office called. Greg spoke with them and he said they weren’t mad and rescheduled us for January. But I am mortified. How did we get that wrong. I feel awful as the physician blocked off two time slots for us and we didn’t show. :(

My mouth and teeth hurt so much..I have to wear braces at this ripe age. I never had them when I was young because I didn’t need them. My jaw moved and my teeth on the bottom started moving. I got a bit of a snaggle tooth on the bottom. I guess it would have progressed if I didn’t do anything..It didn’t look too bad but my dentist referred me to a orthodontist. I’ve been wearing the heavy duty metal braces because Invisalign wouldn’t work for me. They have been uncomfortable, ripping up the inside of my cheeks and lips..but it’s been tolerable. Thank G for wax..Now..I‘ve graduated to Heavy elastics. I have to wear them at night and a few hours a day. I just started them on Thursday night. I wear two on one side but only one on the other..They are so excruciatingly painful..I haven‘t been able to sleep since Wednesday. Last night I actually jumped out of bed last night thinking my tooth was coming out! I‘m supposed to wear them for a few hours a day too..I didn’t yesterday..I just couldn’t do it..I don’t like taking Tylenol..or Advil..I will tough through backaches without taking them…so I have a high pain threshold..I’m seriously thinking of taking Tylenol tonight.
I’ll take some cheese with my whine. :boohoo:

I'm sorry @mrs-b ...that does not sound like fun at all! I'm sure lack of sleep also prevents you from dealing with the pain.
I'd be miserable!

My DD has metal braces (invisalign wouldn't work for her either). She keeps on breaking them because the brackets have a
lot of tension on them trying to twist teeth halfway around. She says her mouth is sore after they tune them up but not to
the point where she cant sleep. I hope your teeth start to move soon so the pressure isn't as bad...in the meantime, you
have my sympathy.

Thank you @tyty333 The braces are tolerable. It’s the heavy elastics that hurt so bad. It’s the strongest elastic..She has me wearing two on one side and one on the other. They are stretched pretty far so very tight. I’m seriously regretting this decision. I’ll follow through but never again.
I hope your daughter is doing okay with hers.

@tyty333 -

I read your post and scrolled back through this thread looking for where I'd talked about my teeth!

Ultimately realized - I think you mean @MamaBee. But, either way, you're so lovely for caring. <3

Might Anbesol (topical) help with the pain?

Oops! You are right @mrs-b ! Sorry for the confusion!

@MamaBee, I’m sorry. Can you ask the doctor if they can use elastics that arent quite as strong (if thats even the right word). I’m hoping he can lessen the tension and gradually work up to what he has you using now? I had braces as a kid and can remember how they felt to this day.

Thank you @Calliecake..I don’t want to sound like a baby. Maybe its because I’m older…My teeth may not be able to take the pressure like someone with young strong roots.. I‘m supposed to wear them a few hours during the day but I’m not going to do that…Maybe next week..:confused2:

I never thought I'd see the day when the interest rate of my bank savings account is higher than the interest rate I pay on my mortgage. But tomorrow, officially, will be that day!

Bank interest rate: 2.75%
Mortgage interest rate: 2.5%

Next I feel like the water is going to start flowing in the opposite direction down the sink!

I have been trying to quit my job for two days and my boss won't accept my resignation. WTF.

Honestly, if it were me, I'd tell the orthodontist that this was disrupting my life to the point of being unacceptable. If she could give you less strong elastics and the process takes a bit longer, but you could sleep, then so what? This just sounds so drastic for what you described as a "bit" of a snaggle tooth. Is she on some kind of timeline? Remember, you are paying her, she isn't paying you. Do we have any orthodontists on here to give some insight?

@MamaBee, Are you feeling any better? Have they told you how long you need to have the braces?
