My husband’s nieces just lost their mother. She died in her sleep. She was 65…Life is short. We need to be kind to each other.

I’m so sorry for your loss Joanne. My heart goes out to your nieces and the entire family.
And a big yes to life is short and we need to be kind to others. We never know what someone is going through and a little kindness can go such a long way to help someone who may be on the edge

Thank you Missy. I wasn’t close to her..but I’m more like a real aunt to my husband’s nieces. My heart goes out to her two girls. One of them just saw her the week before. All was well with her then. It‘s really scared me how fragile life is.

Love my vet! In this time of craziness with people struggling to get appointments as vets are scheduled out weeks in advance, I was just offered my choice of three different times for same day appointment or one tomorrow with his usual doctor. People think I am crazy keeping them at the office we don't live near anymore, but I trust them and they always find a way to fit me in. Definitely worth the drive!

I’m so sorry for your nieces and you @MamaBee. It‘s hard to deal with the waves of grief. I’m glad they have you in their life.

I just noticed my husband's hair is getting long and I usually cut it for him with our clippers so I said, "I want to buzz your head." But he thought I called him a "buzzard head" and now he's mad lol. I might just let him think it because for some strange reason I think he's hawt when he sulks. :lol-2:
My husband has been working 7 days a week for the past few years. He’s admittedly a workaholic but it’s too much at this age for him. I was trying to be supportive and told him “I believe in you!”.
He thought I said “I’m leaving you.”

Does the cold weather make anyone else feel lazy and not motivated to be productive? I am still in bed after being awake for three hours and need to get up and start my day. We are meeting a friend to go hiking with her and her dog in a few hours and I have stuff to do before that. But it's cold out there and I am not feeling excited to get out of bed and get going

For me, it’s a sign that I need a day off. Our son and his wife, toddler and dog moved in for a year. There’s always something to clean and very little peace and quiet. So I’m heading to the shore the day after Christmas with just my dog for some alone time. The constant activity and noise is too much for me.

I have greater hope for the future when they start bringing back stores from the 80’s. I’ll be there will my jelly shoes and bright neon pink shirt with my hair in a matching neon scrunchie!

Yay! Jellies! My eight year old self loved my jellies! I remember a time when a few sisters tumbled loose in the back of a station wagon with jellied feet propped up on the open back window. I thought I lost one once because I was probably fighting a 'don't touch me war'. My favorite red gone, as I, devastated, plotted mortal revenge the rest of the way home. Turns out it just wanted a little adventure and rode home on the bumper.
A younger sister's life was spared that day. Thanks Chevy.

I guess while I’m a Brooklyn girl at heart I am now a jersey girl too.

You know you're from Jersey when . . .
You don't think of fruit when people mention "The Oranges."
You know that it's called Great Adventure, not Six Flags.
A good, quick breakfast is a hard roll with butter.
You've known the way to Seaside Heights since you were seven.
You've eaten at a diner, when you were stoned, or drunk, at 3 A.M.
You know that the state isn't one big oil refinery.
At least three people in your family still love Bruce Springsteen, and you know the town Jon Bon Jovi is from.
You know what a "jug handle" is.
You know that Wawa is a convenience store.
You know that the state isn't all farmland.
You know that there are no "beaches" in New Jersey--there's the shore--and you don't go "to the shore," you go "down the shore." And when you are there, you're not "at the shore;" you are "down the shore."
You know how to properly negotiate a circle.
You knew that the last sentence had to do with driving.
You know that this is the only "New" state that doesn't require "New" to identify it (try . . Mexico . . . York .! . . Hampshire-- doesn't work, does it?).
You know that a "White Castle" is the name of BOTH a fast food chain AND a fast food sandwich.
You consider putting mayo on a corned beef sandwich a sacrilege
You don't think, “You’re from Jersey? What exit?," is very funny.
You know that people from the 201 area code are "a little different."
Yes, they are!
You know that no respectable New Jerseyan goes to Princeton--that's for out-of-staters.
The Jets-Giants game has started fights at your school or local bar.
You live within 20 minutes of at least three different malls.
You refer to all highways and interstates by their numbers.
Every year you have at least one kid in your class named Tony.
You know the location of every clip shown in the Sopranos opening credits.
You've gotten on the wrong highway trying to get out of the mall.
You know that people from North Jersey go to Seaside Heights, and people from Central Jersey go to Belmar, and people from South Jersey go to Wildwood. It can be no other way.
You weren't raised in New Jersey--you were raised in North Jersey, Central Jersey or South Jersey.
You don't consider Newark or Camden to actually be part of the state.
You remember the stores Korvette's, Two Guys, Rickel's, Channel, Bamberger's and Orbach's.
You also remember Palisades Amusement Park.
You've had a boardwalk cheese steak and vinegar fries.
You start planning for Memorial Day weekend in February.
And finally…
You've NEVER, NEVER pumped your own gas.
No matter where in this country, or indeed, in the world my travels may take me, New Jersey will always be home.

Fingers crossed orange is the new orange.

@missy It’s going to be 5 degrees tonight! 7,000+ people are without power in my county. I feel so bad for them..They probably have guests at their home already..with food in the refrigerator. We’re hoping we don’t lose it. My son and family are waiting until they make sure we still have power before they venture over here tomorrow from Virginia..Everything is up in the air..

I need to get a passport. Grew up a few hours from the Canadian border yet have never been. Now we live even closer to the border. This comes to mind now as I just started to type an address into the maps app and noticed a similar address but in Abbotsford, BC is 19 miles away. Home is 70 miles away. It isn't all that far from us!

Actually, thank you for reminding me! We need to update all of ours. I let them lapse because, well, we weren't going anywhere for a while and I forgot.
We also have Canadialand relatives that we would like to visit with soon.

I'm so losing my mind right now.... 3 days, 115 possible correct answers and 10 wrong on the pretest for my certification. Basically I just squeaked by on the pretest.

whatever, I'll take it.

The real certification gives 10 days to finish. 90% correct. the trick questions are through the roof and I'm already scared. The pretest had me screaming at the top of my lungs at noontime.

I'm convinced they do this to break people...

Are any of you on weight loss shots? If so, have you had serious side affects? Thank you!
