I just wanna say -- the random comments thread

Very random colored stone musings today. I like wearing rings on my wedding ring finger. I'm usually not a right hand ring girl. The more I learned, the bigger my colored stones rings became. I didn't want anything under 3 carats. And they sit unworn in my jewelry box. The few times a year I wear them I wince when I hit my hand on anything, so afraid to chip a stone.

Then I recently decided to buy wearable, smaller colored stone rings. I plan to rock them with diamond or colored stone bands and wear them more frequently. This feels more fun and I need more fun in my life.

This is also what I have decided! I got a 4ct star sapphire ring in 2023 and I loooove it but I don’t feel comfortable wearing it on my RH all the time bc I’m so afraid to damage it. So I’m planning to focus on smaller colored gem rings, maybe multi-stone, low set into bezels and flush set for protection. And bands! So much fun.

Does this mean you'll list some of your 3 carat stones in Pre-loved and bring more fun into the lives of us PSers?=)2

Today I am injured and off work. I cannot stay idle and am anxious about needing surgery. So I randomly decided to attack my antique/vintage blue sapphire band. The color of the sapphires are gorgeous! But it has so many itsy bitsy facet abrasions/scratches that the sapphires have lost their luster. They have little shine and look like pretty blue crayon pieces.

I attacked it with cooktop paste, metal paste and a polishing cloth that has a mild abrasive. I think it does look a lot better and now has some sparkle. Or maybe just getting 50 years of embedded dirt out of those abrasions and scratches shined it up. I think I might get very bold and try diamond paste on it.

OUCH! Sorry to hear about your injury. Best wishes for a good and quick recovery.
i know nothing about sapphires….

Beautiful!

Aww thank you Lisa. It really is sweet. They have been through so much. No one reaches that age without many hardships and through it all they remained a strong and loving team

00 is also used for making pasta and I think Italians also use it for pastry.

edited to say, I just looked it up and found this re: pastry

00 flour isn’t just for savory dishes – it’s also a great ingredient for desserts. Whether you’re making tiramisu, cannoli, or biscotti, the fine texture of 00 flour creates a delicate, tender crumb that’s perfect for Italian sweets.

I made traditional scones today with 00 flour. Turned out well, a bit crumbly and needed less baking time. I won't say using it was a game changer, tho. I do plan to make pastry with 00 next. Wonder how that will turn out.

That said I made veal schnitzel using the 00 flour and the crispness and crunch of the schnitzel was superb. Best ever. Game changer!!

Thanks for that info. I have 00 flour and make schnitzel once in a while. All the recipes I have say to use all purpose flour and I never get the crispness I'm looking for. I'll try 00 next time!

So this made me really want schnitzel and I made it last night with the 00 flour. You are so right. It came out so much crispier than what I typically get with regular all purpose flour. Thank you!

Welcome!!!!! And YUM!

Ten minutes of learning a new indoor "scent" game (hiding treats under plastic cups, and she had to identify which one had the treat), and our wee Jack Russell is zonked out flat, asleep in her donut bed. :D:D:kiss2:
