Welcome back.....Sorry, but just based on the HCA which is only a tool that tells you only if a diamond that scores 2.0 or less is worth further investigation...so need Lab reports, Idealscopes, picture images to judge.

I will assume those numbers (1.2 1.2 1.4 1.1) are from the HCA not carat weights?

Also, your phrase 'for the lucky girlfriend' is a bit smug don't you think?

HCA is the best first step - it is a method of ruling out stones that will likely not be good performers. Now you've found 4 stones that pass that first hurdle, you need to arrange the next test: specialized images. We need to see ASETs and/or Idealscope images to be able to comment on the actual light performance of each stone. Get those photos, post them here, and there will be plenty of opinions on which is the best. :))

I know you all hate me,
but apparently, you guys know a hell of a lot of stuff that I don't.

All are promising. I like 2 and 4 better than the others.

Don't bully the OP for the sake of bullying. If you don't have any constructive to post, just don't post. It's really not that hard.

Please don't confuse bullying with sarcasm, but point made.
Carry on...

Still extremely rude.

OP - as others have said you'd want to stick close to a 2.0 on the HCA. anything over that (I personally wouldn't go over 2.5) is over 2.5 I'd really need to see a picture and an idealscope image (most of our vendors can provide this).

A quick summary from his other threads: it seems that OP is shopping in-person and is unlikely to be able to obtain the pictures, etc. we are used to judging on this forum. I believe OP's timeline for purchase is also extremely short and doesn't permit purchasing and learning how to use his own scopes.

ssalerno, we don't hate you. I don't think most of us spend much offline time thinking about anonymous new posters on an anonymous forum :cheeky: We do enjoy helping those who want to be helped with these pricey and emotionally significant purchases and it's good to see that you're considering what you've learnt here on PS - and honestly, Gypsy is the one who deserves the credit for that!

Why are you leaning toward 5166109331?

The numbers on the GIA report are averaged and rounded. Since you are now debating between four stones with promising numbers and promising reports, and it's no longer a question of "promising" vs. "pretty much guaranteed to be a doozy", we're into nitpicking territory and we're hampered by the fact that we don't really have enough information to nitpick with.

If you can have three shipped out and choose between them, I'd recommend having these three shipped out and then letting your eyes make the final decision in-person.
5166109331 (because you favour it and there's nothing in the report that makes me consider it a less viable candidate than the other three)
2166548654 (because numbers are balanced between the two ends of the range those four stones' proportions represent)
1159261893 (because it's a different "flavour" of stone, and this way you'll have three different "flavours" to let your eyes choose from in-person)

The members on this board are very passionate about their love of diamonds. You may have inadvertently hurt a few feelings but I honestly do not believe anyone hates you. I'm glad you are coming back to ask for advice. Some of the members here including Yssie and Gypsy are amazing! They have helped many new members through this very confusing process. Good luck!

Simply because its faceted 3.5 % and doesn't have a crystal in in.

The suggestion of pulling in 3 stones to compare may be your best bet....Is there anyway you could post the lab reports or at least the specs from the reports Cr & Pav Angles, table & depth percents

The numbers I posted above are GIA certificates

There will be a much different look from, I think it was #3 to #4, if I had to pick one just based on the reports I would pick #1. Larger tables are not for everyone, I like a 60/60 type stone, but light performance differs, sometimes balance is the key.
