...but it's gone for a good reason. It's in New York at Leon Mege's shop waiting for it's new home! Off and on for the last year I have been lusting over the beautiful round brilliant with pear shaped sidestones rings on this site (Kaleigh's, KristyDarling's, and Ries's to name a few). After a few false starts and a lot of searching I FINALLY found two pear shaped stones that were a perfect match and within my budget.

Sorry...no pictures right now. Here are the measurements that I have for the pears. They total 0.91 pts which is larger than what I originally wanted, but it was hard finding GIA certified stones less than 40 points. I think they'll look great though. They are slightly on the fat side, but I had been debating between rounds and pears for sidstones so they satisfy my desires with a little of both looks.

One pear shaped diamond, .46 ct.
6.01 x 4.48 x 2.92 mm.
Modern cut, medium to thick faceted girdle, closed culet.
65.2% depth, 60% table.
GIA color: G, with negligible fluorescence to UV lighting.
GIA clarity: VS2.

One pear shaped diamond, .45 ct.
6.02 x 4.52 x 2.92 mm.
Modern cut, medium faceted girdle, small culet.
64.6% depth, 60% table.
GIA color: F, with negligible fluorescence to UV lighting.
GIA clarity: VS2.

These two will flank my 2.33 carat H/SI 1 round brilliant. I first sent the three stones off to Chris at Dave Atlas's shop for review. Chris has been extremely helpful and I highly recommend Gem Appraisers.

Again...sorry for the lack of photos, but I just wanted to share my news. Chris did take some IS photos of my center stone for me, so I'll post those once I get them.

How exciting!!!! It''s going to be fabulous!

ooooh, it''s going to be gorgeous! Leon is the master!

Where did you find the pears?

Thanks everyone! I think this is going to be the longest five weeks of my life. I'm signing the official work order and sending it off with the deposit to Leon tomorrow. The stones are already there.

Kaleigh - Our diamonds are both at Leon's shop at the same time. I'm sure they are keeping each other happy. :-)

sistagrl2004 - I actually purchased the pears from diamond.com. They have a great return policy, I got $100 off, and they even let me pay in three installments interest free! I was searching everywhere though...James Allen, Wink, Excel Diamonds, Blue Nile...everywhere. You should have seen me with my Excel spreadsheets sorting by dimensions! It was a lot of work but it all finally paid off. I think getting a simarlar quality pre-matched, uncertified pair form a vendor would have easily cost me $2000-$2200 which I couldn't afford. I wound up paying just slighly over $1400 for two well cut stones. I think Chris said one rated a 1B and the other a 2B which for sidestones is good enough for me. I also found that some uncerted pairs were not true to their color rating. The GIA certifications helped put my mind at ease.

five weeks!!!
