That's pretty dark. How is the colour shift indoors?

Hmmm. Well this picture looks to have a lot of light on the sapphire. Look how washed out the hand looks. Its not terrible considering the price point tho.

Some sapphires perform better indoors than others. Usually darker sapphires look acceptable outdoors but once you step indoors the stone goes near black in color. This is something I would ask the seller about. If the seller says that the stone holds the color indoors then maybe its worth a purchase so you can spend some time with it. That seller seems to have a nice return policy. Looks like they even pay for the return shipping if your not happy. This one is totally your call, but my gut tells me it will go dark indoors. Still its probably worth inquiring about. I understand at that price it is hard to pass up. I will say this.... it looks much better than the hand shots of the Gemsthailand stone.

Oh sorry Pricescope has a fairly short window of time in which you can edit a post after you have posted it. That is why I was unable to remove the link.

The oval is beautiful - a good balance of colour and cutting (will be very sparkly) but that's probably too light for you? Is it just me that I cannot get the videos to play?

The videos are playing for me. Its just a video that uses the same picture as I posted above. No actual live filming of the stone sadly. :blackeye:

Africa Gems has disappointing videos. I was going to suggest Aficagems the other day as well. Everything I saw that was nice and >10k was heated. I wonder how I missed those two. Both are very nice, but I like the first one the most. Personally I dont care for pear shaped stones, especially in rings.

I absolutely agree. Actually, the two that Justin posted from Africagems, if true to color, are the two nicest to my eye.

I would follow up with OTL's offering from Wimongems. FWIW, I bought a small fanta spess from them and it was as represented, very true to color. That sapphire looks like it would be quite pretty.

Sorry these are all on the smaller end of your requirements.

 The oval!!! Cannot move my eyes away from it~~ (But the price makes me a bit shilly-shally) How can you find so many beautiful Sapphires Justin!

Just mentionend, I also email Jeff (Whitesgems), and them him about want I am tring to find. He gave me arrange about 1800-2600/ct.

 I never thought before I can purchase a diamond or sapphire or other gemstones except from jewelry storea. Thanks there is PS.

I told my fiancé about all your warm helping :D He asked me to say thank for him to all of you!

It appears that Justin is the Sapphire Whisperer.

I really, really like the oval from Africagems - the cushion as well. The cushion looks velvety, but perhaps will be a bit too dark?

It is also worth noting that Africagems sometimes has a 10% off popup that comes up sometimes when I am searching through stones.

I went to a local jewelry store on Saturday, and I have told them about my requirments. They will order some loose sapphires to show me next Saturday.

Cant wait any more!

:loopy: It will be great to hear your opinions Justin!

I suppose those are more options but I would not pick any.

Sapphire 1: It's going to be a pain to set to look good. The girdle is tilted all the way down one side, so to make the stone look even, the setter has to either tilt the table, tilt the girdle or tilt both. Either way, it's not going to look right. Colour is the best of the three though.

Stone 2: Colouration not so good but cutting is passable. Off centered table and off centered culet, whichever way you look at it. No setting issues though.

Stone 3: Don't know if it'll darken up in person. The extreme depth is a turn off because you'll be paying for carat weight you cannot see.

Its not easy finding 4ct+ unheated blue sapphires under $12,000. These are the weakest options I posted.

My personal preference would be the oval from africagems. Or http://www.palagems.com/php/db_search.php?action=gemdetail&inventory_number=20081

If heating was allowed then there would be so many more high end stones to pick from, but since it isn't my posts are the current "bests" on the market. At this price point with these requirements there will always be compromises. Sometimes big ones. :blackeye:

Actually, I pretty like this one. The price is also lovely compared with some other choices

The photo seems enhanced with the saturation amped up - I would be afraid that it has been photoshopped and that you would be disappointed. Can you ask him for a hand shot in natural sunlight? OTOH, you could just buy it and see what you think.

I'm with Minou on not trusting the photograph. Looking at the picture, the background has been cut off so there's no colour reference, the hand colour is off and the stone looks simply unnatural.

I think there are a lot of people looking for sapphires. For the next one, you might not want to post a link to the website. I hope it hasn't sold.

I just realized after looking a little further that the last pear I posted was from wilds global minerals. They have some of the best material on the market, and there eye is impeccable. It might be worth asking some hand shots to see its performance in different lighting environments.
