I think I’m ready! Searching for a 2.5-3.5 H&A round (Experts please chime in)

I would go view it in different lighting conditions along with your BGD stone. It does look different in the pictures. I cant put my
finger on it. My initial thought was it looked a little hazy compared to your BGD but after staring at the pictures for a while I'm
not sure what I'm seeing (or if I'm seeing anything at all).

Maybe @Karl_K can have a look and comment.
 
... definitely different lighting conditions, and scrub it thoroughly (be sure to use a pan or pot with high sides away from drains and floor vents) with Dawn dish soap and an old toothbrush - there may be some residual compound and/or oils on it from polishing and handling.
See if that makes a noticeable difference.

Ummmm i think it was this. It was dirty!!!! I quickly cleaned and it started to sparkle! Have to run to an appointment but as soon as I get back I’m giving it a proper cleaning and will take more pics to compare.

Yes it definitely made a big difference! I’m going to test it out tomorrow and see how it does in all the different lighting. I just posted a new pic after scrubbing it with dawn dish soap-let me know if this looks good and performs please!

Well, I’m not sure what it is. It’s super sparkly as soon as it’s cleaned, but after handling it feels like it dulls. Not as much fire as my BGD, or maybe it’s that the facets are bigger bc it’s a bigger diamond…. I’ll have to sit with this today and see how I feel. The price could not be beat-it was $1178! And maybe I’m hyper sensitive of it looking “fake” and that could be what is skewing me. Or maybe it’s all in my head and I’ve just never seen a diamond this big! IMG_8837.jpeg

Do you have the report for the BG? It’s possible that the angle combo is different enough that you prefer one over the other.

It’s also possible that the BG is cut to better precision and you are seeing that difference. In my experience even small differences in cut precision can make a diamond look less lively in motion.

Thank you @0-0-0 im including the lab reports below. I’d love thoughts so I can zoom in on what I’m being picky about so I can know what to look for. Go figure, this is why I belong on Pricescope I guess haha!

IMO the numbers are close enough that it’s most likely the cut precision throwing you off, as long as you are comparing clean diamonds. I have yet to see a bigger diamond with comparably clean material and cut precision look more dull than a smaller one.

I think the arrow at 3 o’clock looks slightly misaligned on 626493470

To be clear, it is beautiful and my friends and husband cannot see what I see at all. However, I may end up returning this and going with a whiteflash precision lab instead. As much as I love BGD, all their premium labs are CVD and don’t look like great material.

Out of curiosity, what did you clean the diamond with and when handling it after cleaning, are you using bare hands or gloves/tweezers?

@DejaWiz i think I may be an idiot. After I cleaned the diamond I used my bare hands to put it up against my current ring. I cleaned it with dawn dish soap and a toothbrush and then rinsed in water.

When it’s clean it looks the same as my other diamond and doesn’t go dull.

When it’s set, would I need to worry about it going dull? I shouldn’t be placing my finger on top of it (lol) and can do a cleaning every day.

I’m neurotic. I feel like I should have given you a disclaimer before you helped me!!!

I JUST cleaned it again and took this picture with morning light. This looks pretty dang close to the BGD now.

It's a diamond doing diamond things: a magnet for oils and dust!
We clean my wife's diamond every 2-3 days to keep it at max eye candy levels :lol:

Oh geez well I truly feel like a silly goose lol! Thank you for your patience!!! I’m gonna take it around today with tweezers in hand and see how it behaves lol.

I just wanted to say, the stone is very pretty and I'm someone who can "pick out" haze pretty well. If anything, I'd consider downsizing to make it look more "real", or, get used to this honking rock :)

Hi everyone!

Ok I was definitely just delulu I think lol. I’ve decided to keep it. I think the size and then it being dirty threw me off, but with it being clean it sparkles just like my natural diamond.

As soon as the holidays are over I plan on sending it to DK to set it!

Thank you so much @DejaWiz For being patient with me! And finding me this stone! I can’t wait to post pics of it set.

I’ve taken a few videos of it next to my current ring and I need to figure out how to upload them. They shine and sparkle the same!

I finally got some good arrow shots on a gloomy snowy morning where I’m at! Got insurance on the stone this morning and have emailed Mr Klass so that we can move forward on sending to him for a setting. Woot woot!
