zoe! I dont know what size you are, but in my wedding shoe thread neat linked me to Nordies Wedding Dept, I didn''t even know they had one...and look what I found..I think on the model it looks fantastic and I think she looks amazing with her curves accentuated in all the right places. I think with the right under garments this could look wonderful! The great thing is it''s not expensive, you can get it NOW and check it out ASAP, and it''s totally returnable! Just a thought...I know you were bummed about your latest dress experiences and I saw this and thought of you!

Thanks for thinking of me surfgirl!! I''m not sure which dress you''re talking about but I''ve just ordered a few dresses from a few places (I can''t remember if Nordstrom is one of them). I''m also planning on taking a trip down to the closest Nordstrom over the summer (it''s a few hours away from where I live). I really like what I''ve seen so far, so hopefully one of them will look great.

Thanks again!

zoe, just go to the Nordies wedding gown page and scroll through it page by page and you''ll see there''s one dress that is specifically available in plus sizes. It looks WAY more flattering that the AA dresses, yet beautiful and romantic. Check it out and let me know what you think. I wish I knew how to post photos from other sites here but I dont...

This must be it:
If you go the plus size section and then look under "dresses and occasion," it''s there too (with a lot of other really pretty dresses). Thanks surfgirl!

This is the back. I just ordered it! I also ordered a few other dresses from Nordies and I''m waiting for them to arrive. They should be here any day.

Ohh. I love that gown. Very lovely! Can''t wait to hear which one you chose.

zoe- when you get that last dress let us know what you think of it... i am a plus size (but taller) soon to be engaged and looking at dresses already. i love love love that dress!

Yes zoe, that''s the one! I just thought that it made the model look slim in how it falls just along her hips and them gently away from her body. Some of the AA dresses show on plus sized models, IMO, make the models look larger since the skirts flare out so much. This one seemed like it might be very slimming in how it skims the body in all the right places. But dont forget to get some good undergarments when you try them on...I find that makes alot of difference in how silky fabric looks on the body.

And yes, please post photos, if you''re comfortable doing so. I''m interested in seeing the dresses you ordered...Yeah for options

Thanks Gypsy and surfgirl! I''ll try to post pics when they come in. The uh, cleavage of the model, holy moly! I don''t feel comfy being THAT exposed but I''ll work on that before posting.

I may have to have my FI see me in the dresses so he can take pictures and them upload them for me but at least he won''t know which one I may keep. I''m also still thinking of having one made. We''ll see.

Bec, I''ll definitely let you know how it goes. Where have you looked so far? Wedding gowns just looked silly on me so I''ve ruled out that option. It''s also not a style I find particularly comfy -- too formal for my taste. I ordered dresses from Nordstrom (online, the closest one is a few hours away from me) and Roaman''s (a catalogue company I think -- similar to Chadwick''s perhaps?). I''m also going to run to Macy''s, Talbot''s Woman, Dress Barn (just to see what they have - I''ve never bought from there before), JC Penny, and maybe a few local dress shops. Keep checking this thread if you want and I''ll update it as needed.

I also bought these from Nordstrom:

9 West (Grenadine color - yes I know it''s not white but I love it):

Eileen Fischer (shown in black but I ordered white):

Last one from Nordies:

Positive Attitude White Eyelet Dress with Jacket:

zoe, I think the Eileen Fisher might be more flattering. I like the pink one but not for the wedding. Maybe for a rehearsal dinner?

The eyelet one doesnt look flattering on the model, but might look nice on you. Those dresses are pretty casual though, except the pink which looks more cocktail-ish...Did you order any other more bridey dresses? Did you check Target''s new Isaac M line? There are some gowns there that might be nice and they''re really inexpensive...

Hey Zoe, I have not really tried on much yet... we are looking at Oct. 2008 on the beach so what I have looked at is pretty casual. I tried on some alferd angelo and liked a few of them... none that took my breath away. I went to a David''s bridal and they were mean and rude but there are quite a few in my area so I am going to go to another one later. What I have discovered so far is that it''s important to call ahead to make sure that that they have sizes i can try on. There are bridal type dresses out there that will look good on you... it just takes more time and effort. Try and find an honest friend with a fashion sense to go with you.. it helps... they find things that I would never normally try on. If I find anything good I will point you in that direction...

I thought this one looked nice too. It's a soft silvery green in the pics which actually sounds lovely, at least to me. linky

Thanks Gypsy! I just ordered it.

Great! I hope on of them give you the feeling you are looking for. Keep us updated hon, I''m interested to see if you fall in love with any of them.

zoe, I was thinking...we really need a virtual fashion show of all the dresses you mail ordered! I am guessing you need some unbiased opinions on this dress thing and I for one, am ready and waiting! Let''s see some pictures! Of all of em! Please???

Ditto!

I know, I''ve been slacking. I keep looking at the dresses and knowing that I should try them on again...but then I put it off. I promise I''ll try to this weekend. THe school year''s almost over and after that I''ll have all the time in the world to post pics. Scouts honor.

Can you tell us if any of them appealed to you? You don''t sound like you really loved any of them.

Well I don''t think I''ll post the one plus size wedding dress Nordies had to offer. It''s a mesh dress (which sounded odd to me, a little cheap, but it''s not), so I don''t know how it would be altered. Also, the neckline, well, let''s just say it''s a little too slinky. Mind you this dress was made for someone way taller than me. The back of it wasn''t flattering at all. I will spare you all pictures of this one.

I think the reason why I''m not in love with any one dress so far is because I think I know what I want and it''s just not right for my shape. I love KimberlyH''s dress -- the lightweight, sort of flowy type of dress. I''ll see if I can find a picture of that one or something similar. The whole thing gets me down honestly.

I will post pics of a few of the dresses. I also just got another package in the mail today from Nordies. I''ll open it later but pics won''t come til this weekend at least. Thanks for keeping me in mind!

Hi Zoe...
Just curious how you liked the white eyelet dress with jacket from nordstrom? I''m having a casual reception and had thought about wearing that (maybe with a blue jean jacket though...) PLEASE post a picture of you in it!! You mention you are short....?? I''m 5''0'''' so I know what you are going through with looking for dresses. I''m also about a size 12-14 depending on the cut of the dress.... so know you are not alone in your search and all your posts and links have been helpful to me as well.

good luck!
