Hi All
My grandmother recently gave me her wedding band,. Its beautiful and from the 1940's. I want to wear it on my right hand but its a bit too big and falls off. but i dont want to size it. SO i wanted to buy a nice ering type ring to wear with it. Something real gold but not a real diamond (at this point) as I dont want to spend too much yet. THis is just something i can wear with it, thats pretty and so it wont fall off.
Then in a few years i'll have hubby get me something with a "real" diamond, maybe for 5 or 10 yr anniversary.
Anyway the ring is 6mm wide so I was thinking a thinner band on the ering..??
this is the closest i could find to what it looks like

any suggestions? i dont even know where to look

no ideas at all what i can wear with this ring?

Just want someone pretty that will keep it on my finger. simpy as i dont want to take away from it

any ideas would be appreciated!

Do you have any pictures of your band? It must be very pretty if it looks similar to the one you linked to!

I’m sure the other ladies will chime in soon with suggestions. I’m afraid I won’t be much help (I spend most of my time in the colored stone forum). Have you taken it to a jeweler? Maybe they can put sizing beads in.

Have you considered using a colored stone? What’s your grandmother’s birthstone? Maybe you could do a solitaire with her birthstone as the center stone. We aren’t allowed to talk about diamond stimulants so I don’t think anyone will post ideas about that.

Do you have a budget in mind?

Her birthday is june (same as mine) - yes im open to colored stones!

If you don't want to size the ring "traditionally" by having a little piece cut out, what you might do is have sizing balls or pads soldered in inside the ring - you say it's only a little big, so if we're talking inside a size or two, that should be no problem. Alternately, maybe you could wear it with an eternity band atop to keep it in place, either diamonds or colored stones? I think that's such an elegant look ....

The birthstone for June is pearl so maybe start a thread in the pearl forum. You might also want to check out these websites for pearl rings:

http://pearlparadise.com/

The alternate birthstones for June are moonstone and alexandrite. Alexandrite isn't very budget friendly but moonstone is. You might want to post a thread in the colored stones forum, I'm sure the ladies there will be able to come up with lots of ideas.

I second the idea re: a ring involving your grandmothers birthstone that way it's a "set".

Maybe a standalone pearl ring or that moonstone ring is nice too! People probably wont be posting simulant diamond ideas... but maybe in the lab grown diamond thread you could get more ideas?
