Hi! I took a chance and ordered a “ideal” round diamond online. It is returnable but the specs are a little off from what I have read is considered ideal.
IGI CERTIFIED SPECS:
2.59 ct
Color D
Clarity vvs2
Table 59
Depth 62.3
Crown angle 35.7
Pavilion angle 62.3
Excellent Polish and Symmetry
Cut “Ideal”
Medium Girdle
I was wondering whether these slight deviations from ideal percentages in table and pavilion angle are significant
And how it can still be deemed “ideal”
Ultimately my eyes will be the judge as to whether I am happy with it but was wondering whether if it could still be ideal with these deviations?

Short version:
IGI ideal doesn't mean much of anything.
Do you have any pics of the stone? I'm not usually a fan of 59 tables. What's the pav angle? 62.3 is what you listed for depth

You're and my mistake. The pavilion angle is 41%. I do not have pics. Price was so good I was taking a chance but knowing it's returnable.

You are right and my mistake!

The high pav and crown angle likely won't play well together. That plus the big table likely won't be great. But if its returnable then no harm in seeing it!

Thanks for that good advice, I am now wondering if I should just leave at fedex for the return and try again. I guess I can email the company about this! Thanks for your advice!!

Hello, lostdiamondsad!
I used the PriceScope search engine and I think I found the diamond that you ordered listed for just under $1000, but there's no video at Loupe360.
Ends in 5905?

Yes ! Is there a picture?

Unfortunately, I couldn't find any images or videos, so we're not able to offer an assessment regarding the diamond crystal quality, cut precision, and overall optics.

Ok thanks! What about this one ? As an alternative

Yep - there's a video!
It appears to be cut and proportioned quite well!
Not sure about the diamond crystal quality, as I see some CVD graining, so it would need to be checked for things like light scattering which can make a diamond appear hazy, milky, blurry, or sleepy.

Ok perhaps I will see what the one looks like that’s coming and then make a switch if it doesn’t appear very nice! Thanks again!

Can I trouble you to run this one through loupe360 as well? I tried to figure that out on my own and was unable.

Hi, lostdiamondsad - no loupe360 video for this one and I'm not seeing it listed on any seller sites. Being that it is CVD and it has a rarely seen IGI notation of graining in the plot, I immediately question the quality of the grown diamond material. Is this from one of the super discounted overseas sellers?

The only info I could see on that one was through StoneAlgo which showed the report details and proportions

It has an 8.9 cut score on that site but I've heard that this scoring is unreliable compared to others and that graining isn't appealing!

The crown angle is slightly outside normal ideal range at 35.4% but probably balanced with the 40.8 PA

For what it's worth stonealgo also listed some 'top picks' with better proportioned (sponsored links but same diamonds found at other sellers)

E.g. (another CVD) but with clear pics and details online - looks like it has very good proportions but you can some striations when really zoomed in the material - not sure if this would be an issue for you.

LG631414346 - good colour, clean, 2.41 - (Online price range $700-1500!)

Edited to add - the one above is listed as 'may include post growth treatment'

It’s on luvansh. I received the first one you reviewed and sending it back. It was just ok… so they recommended three and this one had the best proportions but I am unfamiliar with the nuances like the “graining”. Thanks so much for looking at it for me! Now I will avoid the hassle of another return! The search continues. It does make me wonder how they can sell them at such a discount… they have been very nice and responsive so far.it may be a case of needing to see in person instead of online… I really appreciate the help!! I was on the misapprehension that I could choose a round on numbers! Clearly it’s not that simple!

I just wanted to thank you for your recommendation on the above diamond . I searched so many online certificates that it’s mind numbing and the fact you came up with one that had such great specs so quickly is much appreciated!! I actually ordered it and got a price match for the lowest price you mentioned. I have gotten a number over the years and had to send back because it’s just so hard to go by the online pics and my limited knowledge about the specs. I will keep you posted when it arrives. And it’s returnable so all good. Such a nice person on the phone helped me with the order too! Williams and Sons Jewelry in San Diego. I was surprised to see the hearts and arrows designation on the certificate too as I haven’t seen that on the certificate before with all my searching (probably because I looking in a certain price range). Thanks again!!
