Thanks everyone for your kind words. Yeah, I love the ring. I feel like a princess every time I put it on my finger. My finance is complaining that I've moved all my attention from him to my finger ever since.
The short, nothing-fancy story of proposal: he actually proposed w/o the ring. lol. We were on vacation in India this June. While we were amazed by the beauty of Taj Mahal, in front of it, he said "I think we should get married" and natually I responded "yes, I think so, too." So, that's it. We were engaged. Then we came back to New York and started ring shopping.
The ring shopping experience: I always liked the HW micropave, so it's a no-brainer when we were deciding where to get the ring from. Given the pricey tag, we were looking to get a F/VS quality around 1.5ct. They only had 2 rings that falled under our budget and we didn't like either one. So we went down the route to ask HW finding us a loose diamond and build a ring from scratch. The following week when we went back to take a look at the diamond they found for us, our eyes were caught by a beautiful 1.8ct/E/VVS1 ring that just came to the store the night before. I tried it on, loved it, and couldn't move my eyes from it. I felt immediately that it was MY ring. Although the price is over our budget, he said he was happy to pay for "whatever makes me happy." So, we got this one.
Postscript: the resizing took a little over 2 weeks. That 2 weeks was killing me! Everyday after my fiance got home, I couldn't help bugging him with the same question "where's my ring!" The day it finally came, I put it on and it looked even more beautiful than what I remembered and the size fits me perfectly. We went to Bond St to celebrate that night. The chef's special tasting menu with pairing sake was the best Japanese food we've ever had. In the cab home, I said to my fiance "I feel I'm the luckiest girl in this world."
It is easy to see why you fell in love with that ring! It is gorgeous! Congratulations! You are indeed a lucky girl! (I'm sure your
DF is a lucky guy as well!) Thanks for sharing!
It's really exquisite. Can you post some more pics........ like maybe fifteen or twenty? LOL, we'd like to see this baby from all sides. Most of us will never own a piece from HW in our lives.
