Well after about a year and a half on the list, I''m engaged! It happened last night in the snow in Colorado! It was wonderful and the ring is beautiful! There is no Internet up here so the full story and photos will have to wait until we are back in Florida. I just couldn''t wait to let all the LIW know the big news! Number 6 is off the list!!!!

Ok we are back home in Florida! Time for the update!

The cold knee proposal: Scott had been mentioning going out to look at the stars while we were at the Colorado house. I had heard from the family that it was beautiful out there at night so I was all for it. The day after Christmas there had been lots of snow coming down and Scott mentioned that he wanted to go outside to look at the stars. It was only 5 degrees outside and I mentioned that I didn’t think we would see very much because it had been overcast all day. Everyone assured me that we would definitely see stars out (under Scott’s direction) so we geared up with our heavy jackets and a flashlight and went outside, walking away from the house so we could see the stars without the house lights interfering. I was following Scott when he stopped and mentioned that I should look at a tree in front of us. Written on the tree was Scott + Amanda, which reminded me of the same inscription written on his porch in college. At that point he told me to come over and look on the other side of the tree, which was covered with logs. He got down to remove the logs on bended knee and reviled the words “Marry Me” written into the tree. Next thing I knew there was squealing and “Shut UP!” coming from my mouth. After some wonderful words being said by Scott and an upside down ring box presented, I finally was able to get out the word “yes”. It was wonderful. He was so funny when he pulled the ring box out he told me that we couldn’t put the ring on outside because he was afraid he would drop it! After taking a few photos of the tree and smooching a bit we went inside and talked and laughed about the proposal and the months leading up to it. The ring was beautiful and he HAD picked it out on his trip to Atlanta like I thought he did! He found the setting and stone through a family jeweler and with a lot of Pricescope research he felt really good about the choice. After spending some time alone enjoying the moment we went upstairs where we were greeted by his family and a bottle of champagne. It was so wonderful and I’m so happy that we are now officially engaged!

I was hesitant to post the ring yet because I don’t have the full specs. I think I’ll post a few photos but wait to start a SMTR thread once I have all the info. I loved my time as a LIW. All of you were so supportive and although I didn’t post much I loved reading all your stories and being a part of this community. See you all over at BIW!

Stats that I know: Center stone is 1.01 carats and side stones are approx .70. The setting is white gold and the engraving on the ring is custom. FI researched Art Deco engraving and sketched out the design to be put on the ring. The center diamond is eye clean to my naked eyes. FI told me of a feather under one of the prongs, but it’s not visible….at least to me and I’ve been staring at it for days! The center stone faces up white in normal lighting but when I was by the fireplace I noticed a warm glow, I’ll be interested to know what the color is because I think it is beautiful. (I may be a little biased! haha) Oh and my finger size is 5.25. I’ll be sure to post the stats once I get them from FI in the SMTR thread but for now….
