I'm going to need some help with tile and sink choices in my mmh, 'unique' kitchen.

Tiling commences! We're getting there...

I LOVE that tile!!!

It's amazing in person! Better than anticipated. Well made, and so far not a broken tile from shipment. We've had very little waste. It cuts like a dream with no chipping and easy to file, which is not always the case. It's been over 15 yrs since we tiled anything so I'm happy it's not going terribly. It's just tight back there and a PIA for wee short people, and by that I mean me. That took us about 4hrs or so to finish those sections.
But just because she loves us, she decided she wants more attention:roll: Didn't notice this separation as it was hidden under the menu thingy.

I'm going to have to chip out the loose Hh plaster and then, well, mastic is glue so I'll glomp the chunks right back into the lathe and tile right over. It should go pretty quick then. Obviously, you would have to do patching proper and pretty for a bare wall but this'll do. It just needs a solid substrate.
It's always something. This is why we have a barn full of tools/supplies though half the time it's not the ones we need...
Oh, and they want 300 smackers for the septic permit. I just got the text from DH, who is scandalized
Highway robbery, I tell you!

She's got her mud mask for the night and then this little section will go fast and fast. I'll grout this side tomorrow, because I hate waiting and I want my stove back. Then we wait for the lights and hood to come(oh yeah, we got lucky/easy with the electrical, phew!). Little victories, no?

Just need to cut some tiny bits and then grout the other side to not highlight the fact that my entire house slopes and isn't square anywhere aaaand we're as good as it's getting!

That looks absolutely amazing! Kudos on the tile job, especially with your uneven surfaces and walls! The tile is really perfect. It is already bouncing light around the space and will really brighten things up. Well done! I love it!

Thanks!
I love it and it's so beautiful up close. I pat it when I pass it. It feels nice. It is much brighter in there already. I tell her how pretty she looks.
When we build the masterbath upstairs I actually may use it in a different color.
I can't wait for the lights and hood to get here. I don't want to put anything back up on the other wall now, though! I'm going to add another 7-8 ft of the butcher instead of stone(less weight) from that wall going under the windows and I found some pretty turned legs to use. After that, it'll be installing the butler counters, new sink, new cabinet hardware and papering the little ceiling in there and I'll be done in here for now. I keep saying that and DH keeps rolling his eyes.
I'll paint cabinets in a year or so, maybe, probably. You know. Then there is the laundry room, that needs some major attention...
I have to buy new furniture for some other rooms...
I'll post a picture with the hood and lights when we get them up.

Dispatches from Hobbiton:
Greetings from The Shire!
Placement help needed for the sconces.
Higher or lower?
Maybe even over the windows?
What should I do?!
The counter will be 36'' high and 7/8 ft and run from the corner along both windows. So it's 2'' higher than the little butcher there in the picture.

I love the lights, by the way! We'll install all of them this weekend with the hood.

Thanks!

I always go to the experts...

Thank you for this! I measured the higher position and it's 30'' almost exactly, so that's what we're doing.
Wow!! Im loving the lights!
They are solid! I can't wait to get the island light and the little pantry light in.
So cute.

My poor DH can pick his head up off the wall and stop saying, 'Here---arm drag---Here? You should take a picture and go ask some chickens. Just tell me where to put the holes.' in that (Bueller) tone he gets because I made him do it five times.

Men can be so dramatic….. ;)2:lol-2:

HI. I love the tile and I like he higher sconces. Just make sure you are not looking at the bulb, so you might have to adjust a tad, IDK. Great job! Can't wait to see more.

Love the updates! I had no idea you were SO handy?? You really could have saved me THOUSANDS by coming over & helping out here. I’d have given you free bed, board & wafty kaftans :lol-2:

Okay, is the island light too low? I have a 6'' downrod that I can use instead.

Shorter is better!
It's seems a little big for the room and I probably should have gone for a flushmount but I'm not bothered by it too much. I always overreact initially to change, so there's that. The room is just too small for it to be 'in your face'. It's nice not to have to talk through the fixture, you know?

I definitely prefer it higher. It lifts the space.

I wish the pictures could translate the feel better, it just feels nice to look at. It's just so cute. Even with that giant TV ruining my sight lines!
It's starting to come together, just a few more bits and bobs in the main room! I so want to get that room decluttered before the bigger outside projects start I can taste it:lol:

It has really come together! Love the tiles and colors and flush mounts—even the placement. You have a wonderful eye for scale/pattern/texture. We will ignore the TV.

Almost!
You should see our protracted mini campaign over placement. We're getting to the point that if someone leaves the kitchen last, the TV moves.

Welp, he gots himself a superfluous hood. I hated the way it looked going all the way up to the ceiling and since it's not vented I told him just to put the one piece on top. Eh, it's for looks. We made the little counter and it's cute, I'll put some little stools to grab eats and it's where the Keurig/air fryer will live.

Oh, I really like the look of this Ilve range, and I'd like a new one. People seem to love it and it's very pretty with the color options, but does anyone on PS actually own one? I would love to have a real world endorsement that it's a decent stove.

I love everything! The hood...well, sometimes you have to give to get...lol

I can't help on the range as I have nothing but electric here (I miss gas!)

He's so happy with it, all essentially for two little lights in a room with a million new ones...
He's such a squirrel about some things, it's so rare that he says anything that how can I deny him? He's my steadfast hobbit and I love him. And he cooks. I'm beat fair.
The range looks fabulous and everyone is singing praises in reviews, but it isn't the same as hearing from someone who can tell you it's quirks. I'll probably bite the bullet, now I just have to decide on color.
Still haven't decided on a sink, too many choices, but I've got a month or so before he just changes the counters whether I have one or not:lol:

Gotta say, I love your kitchen, so cozy and inviting, like the perfect place to invite a friend for a coffee or tea and talk about sparkly things ;)

Thank you, Yada:praise:
That makes me inordinately happy to hear, as that's exactly what I want. It doesn't have to be 'perfect' but it has to be home.

Now I just need everyone to keep their sh*t off my counters, thank you very much!

The next project I have is to pick house colors...maybe I'll start a thread for that because I. Can't. Decide.
