Hi guys.... :wavey: I have lurked these halls for well over a year and have finally decided to come out of the wood work and jump in head first for my christmas gift. My husband told me to pick out a nice diamond because I haven't gotten anything diamond wise for a few years now. The last purchase was a 1ct Rectangular Modified Brilliant Cut / Princess solitaire that I wear with my wedding band. That was about two years ago and I found Price Scope right after that.

What I'm wanting is a princess cut solitaire pendant somewhere around .33ct to .50ct ... set in a nice 4 prong setting. Nothing really fancy, but something that would work nice back to my engagement ring. If possible I would really like to find a dealer that would let me use the stone in the future for upgrades, for in hopes of someday being over the 1ct size I could then use my current engagement ring for a pendant and have the new stone set within a ring.

I've looked at some pre-set or ready set go pendants at WhiteFlash but I did not know if these could be used for upgrades in the future. Everyone here seems to be so nice from me reading everyones posts. Thanks to each and everyone that helps a newbie out and gives me some advice.

Just stepping out into the PS arena

I've looked at Brian Gavin Diamonds as well. But they only really have a good selection of rounds in the carat weight I'm looking at purchasing. I have to say that those arrows do make my knees a little weak. Would it be strange to do a round pendant with a princess engagement ring? Or should I jump in and do a different cut? 8)

Personal preference. You are not going to wear the pendant on the hand right? :P

Hi Stone-cold11.... nope I'm sure not... but I think I would still love to stick with a princess... there's just something about them even though the arrows makes me knees week.... LOL!!!! :D I guess you could say that the princess makes my heart sing.... 8)

ya, it is rare for some one to like both shapes equally. :P

Thanks so much Stone-cold11....

The first one is more in my price range but like you said that I would half to have them check it out for me.

I found a .50ct J VS2 for about the same price at Blue Nile the cut was Very Good.... The only thing is I couldn't upgrade in the future whereas Blue Nile don't do an upgrade program... but my Husband is the kind of guy that thinks if that diamond or piece was purchased for you for a reason then you should keep it. I'm trying to tell him it's just as special other wise... LOL!!! :D

Problem with BN is that except for their in-house stone, which is their Signature Ideal, all princess starts with a cut grade of VG and below. And since most of these stones are graded by GIA which do not grade the cut performance of a princess, these cut grade are quite useless. The only lab that grades the cut performance of a princess is AGS, so if you can find an AGS graded stone in BN then it might be worth the trouble.

Gosh... I had no clue of that... Thanks. I'll keep looking then.

So is the ready set go diamond pendants at WhiteFlash good quality?

Re: I'm new and looking for a diamond pendant :UPDATE:

Me and my Husband went to a local jewelry store today and I looked at some diamond pendants they had. At first I was wanting to go with around .50ct , somewhere say .45ct or .48ct. after I got started looking for stones...

Today made me change my mind BIG time. When I started out wanting this diamond pendant the main thing I wanted to focus on was cut and clarity... then after I seen a .50ct today I realized that next to my engagement ring and for my classic style that a .50ct was way to big for a pendant for me. I wanted something more in the lines that the engagement to pendant ratio would favor my engagement ring and not take attention from it but just add to my diamond collection that I'm starting to build.

So I've decided to go with anything from a .33 to a .40... and also after looking around at a few places I've decided to go with WhitFlash for my pendant. I'll be sending them an email and start my process asap....

I also want to say another Thanks to Stone-cold11 for all her help... She been a terrific ....
