Hi I would greatly appreciate all your input as I need to make a decision in the next couple of days on my engagement ring:

Gia report no: ld2121893720 ( this is a Leo diamond 2.09 c H SI2 and seems clean ie no visual inclusions and the jeweler quoted a price of 15.5 k dollars)
Gia report no: ld3145518396( this is a round cut 2.01 c I SI1 which is quoted for 15.3k dollars)

Do you think the Leo is worth the money? I need to give my decision on the Leo asap as the jeweler can't hold the diamond for too long. Which diamond would you think is better? Or do you think both are not worth it?

Any input would be appreciated

Re: Input appreciated 2 carat Leo or not? 2 Gia reports prov

Hi, those are good prices. any pictures?

Re: Input appreciated 2 carat Leo or not? 2 Gia reports prov

No I didn't take any unfortunately but I tooka friend who worked in Zales for a whole and she said the Leo one seemed very clean as she can barely see any inclusions ... Which do you think is better?

Re: Input appreciated 2 carat Leo or not? 2 Gia reports prov

GIA report # on the second one, please repost it.

Re: Input appreciated 2 carat Leo or not? 2 Gia reports prov

My apologies the second one is 3145518396

Re: Input appreciated 2 carat Leo or not? 2 Gia reports prov

By the numbers on the second one, a pavilion angle of 40.2 is a cause for concern. Diamonds with this PA are usually very dark.

I think a better cut one will cost more.

Now the Leo... I cannot tell if it also has problems such as excessive darkness without a good picture.

Re: Input appreciated 2 carat Leo or not? 2 Gia reports prov

Ok thanks for the input ... What is a reasonable PA? And where do you find that info in the GA report?
What do u need to make ur assessment on the Leo stone?
Finally what do u think of GIA report no: 2155057447?

I really appreciate your input. Pls send me ur email address so I can send you a Starbucks gift card :)

Re: Input appreciated 2 carat Leo or not? 2 Gia reports prov

If you post them on here we will look at them.

Re: Input appreciated 2 carat Leo or not? 2 Gia reports prov

How should I take the picture? I am going to ask the jeweler to send it to me so what angle should they take the pic from?

Re: Input appreciated 2 carat Leo or not? 2 Gia reports prov

completely face forward, no angles.

Re: Input appreciated 2 carat Leo or not? 2 Gia reports prov

Ok I'll have a picture up either tonight or tomm afternoon... Thank you and have a nice day

Re: Input appreciated 2 carat Leo or not? 2 Gia reports prov

I would be worried that the Leo is only graded good for polish and symmetry. I can't tell much from the photos but it does appear to be bright on your hand. The dark area at 9:00 in the first photo I'm guessing is camera reflection.

The proportions are listed in the full report beside the diagram of the stone. We can only verify reports online and some of them include the proportions and others don't. In this case the Leo didn't so we don't know the angles. Also without the exact ct weight of the stone we can't look up the report online, so is it possible for you to give us the weight of the above stone? Can you contact the vendor and ask for the crown and pavilion angles on the Leo Diamond?

Re: Input appreciated 2 carat Leo or not? 2 Gia reports prov

The carat weight is 2.09. I can ask the jewler but I'm not sure if he will know. I am going to see him now again so I'll post you what he says in an hour or so. I was worried about the good polish and symmetry as well however note the depth and table is 59.8 and 57 percent respectively. Girdle thin to medium Faceted...so not extremely thin..thank you!

Re: Input appreciated 2 carat Leo or not? 2 Gia reports prov

angles won't work for Leo. it's probably not on the GIA report anyway.

pictures are... inconclusive. The lighting environment is wrong. Did it look brighter than the other option? It is cut to be a disco ball, very many small flashes, should have lots of fire if cut right.

Re: Input appreciated 2 carat Leo or not? 2 Gia reports prov

No pavilion or crown angle on the Leo... I thought you can't see much diff btw a Leo and round cut but now I'm hearing looking like a disco ball :( so u don't thinks it's worth it? I tools pics of another 2 carat that I will be posting later this evening. I'm curious on your opinions on which is better... Thank you all

Re: Input appreciated 2 carat Leo or not? 2 Gia reports prov

The Leo has 66 facets I believe, and a standard round brilliant has 57 or 58 (depending on cutlet). So a Leo will throw off shards of light, whereas a standard RB has bigger facets so the sparkles will be broader, if that makes sense.

Have you seen both cuts side-by-side?

Re: Input appreciated 2 carat Leo or not? 2 Gia reports prov

I don't mean disco ball to be a bad thing at all! It is a different style than a standard round, that is all. Some people really like it.

You've seen both stones, presumably side by side. We know the I is dark. What I want to know if if the Leo is better, that is the important thing. Go look at both in natural light, indoors near a window.

Well...I'm not sure that it's worth the $24k+ price tag...being an Si2 I'd want to know about inclusions and if it's eye clean etc. I'd also want to know about that dark spot. If it is a camera reflection then no worries. On that stone you'll be seeing tonight, any way you could give us more info on the stone?

Re: Input appreciated 2 carat Leo or not? 2 Gia reports prov

OP said 15.5K, seems to be fair price.

Re: Input appreciated 2 carat Leo or not? 2 Gia reports prov

I'm not a rounds expert but I don't like to hear the 'buy it before it disappears forever' tactics. (Someone feel free to correct me if there's some valid reason this stone can't stay in their inventory!)

Re: Input appreciated 2 carat Leo or not? 2 Gia reports prov

Ok disco ball doesn't mean bad..got you!...that dark spot on 9pm is cam reflection...what do u mean by OP std the price of 15.5k is fair? What is OP? What's a good price for the stone? Is the jewler overcharging for the Leo?

I can't see side by side bc the two diamonds are w diff jewlers but I did see both outside in natural light and both looked brilliant
The other diamond (that I saw in direct sunlight) that I will post pic tonight is a 2.11 ct H SI1 EGL USA certified (doesn't that mean a color and clarity lower by GIA std?)...the stone is sl thick faceted... Depth and table of 63.5 and 58.0 percent ..I only see couple inclusions on the side which can be covered by a prong) . I can ask for more details if it will clarify anything... It's going for 14k... In the end I'm torn amongst the Leo stone, this EGL stone and the GIA stone mentioned above in my first posting (ie I SI2 GIA eye clean according to bluenile)... I am looking the best stone for the price

I will post pics tonight

Thank you soooooo much

Regards,

Ms. Indecisive

Re: Input appreciated 2 carat Leo or not? 2 Gia reports prov

I wouldn't consider this stone. It's far too deep. OP means original poster (so you). What's your budget? I don't like BN because you can't see what their stones look like and you'd have to wait till it's sent to you pay full price and then if you don't like it you'd have to send it back.

Re: Input appreciated 2 carat Leo or not? 2 Gia reports prov

OP is for original post/poster.

While I was hoping you would say the Leo was apparently brighter, the darkness in the I won't be apparent in every lighting and viewing situation, it depends how closely you hold it to your face. Direct sunlight is not good, you want diffuse sunlight, by a window, cloudy day, under a tree kind of lighting.

I really can't say more about it without better pictures or an Ideal Scope.

EGL one is on the deep side.

Re: Input appreciated 2 carat Leo or not? 2 Gia reports prov

I think I got the percentage interchanged depth the EGL stone is depth 58 and table 63.5.... I'll send you a pic of the cert so you can assess and make sure I'm reading right... I did check both stones by a window on a cloudy day... The Leo did look better in that circumstance... Ok pics will be posted... Thanks! Pls hang on Julien et all!

Re: Input appreciated 2 carat Leo or not? 2 Gia reports prov

04diamond my budget is 14k preferably... I'll go to 15 if I really thinks its worth it...

Sincerely,

OP ;)
