Anything else?: My SO and I have been friends for 10+ years. We always had little crushes on each other, but nothing ever worked out. I lived in other states prior to moving back to NY and he lived elsewhere, too. Once we were in the same location, it was inevitable we would start dating.

Once when I was driving to High School, I was listening to the radio and the DJs were saying how most people wind up marrying people within 15 mile radius from their childhood home. For some reason, I thought to myself "I''m going to marry SO." I don''t know why, since we were only friends (and I was 16!), but that''s who I immediately thought of....funny! In our HS class picture, we are also sitting right next to each other. SO just realized that the other day! The signs were there all along, I guess. It just took us a while to realize!

We met at our work, he originally hired me and was my boss. Once we started dating he was promoted into a different department so it wasn''t unethical =). We moved to Los Angeles (his hometown area) from Boston in August of 2006 =)

I was playing Guild Wars, an online mrpg. I joined a guild and he was the guildmaster. But i never talked to him and always thought he was a girl as his sn was Ima Gurl. haha
One day, i asked a friend in the guild for some help with my english homework. She then asked him for some help. We started talking that day and never stopped.
He lived in Nevada and i lived in Washington. So in December, i made the trip and we met December 16, 2005.
Expected Engagement Date: I dunno. He likes to tease me about it. :P
He said not before 2008 but then he says that we will get married in 2008. When i tell him that a marriage takes some planning, he says that he knows and winks at me. I think, it will be probably around the end of 2007. :)

I was waiting to get engaged until I felt that our relationship had stabilized and I knew that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with him because I couldn''t live without him, not because we share a child. After a couple of rocky years we are stronger and more in love than ever, and we''re pretty thrilled that our story has had a happy ending.

We first met, albeit briefly, at a Christmas party my roommate and I threw together. We''re all grad students, and he was invited by my roommate because they''re in the same department. He noticed me the second I opened the door for him, and he watched me all night. Meanwhile, I spent the evening shamlessly flirting w/ my neighbor from the apartment across the hall. To my credit, I did notice Dan''s eyes and was able to get the right coat for him as he was leaving. Lopsided first impression, I know, but you''d be impressed if you knew how much punch I''d had by that point.

The holidays passed, and in January my roommate decided to get a group together to go out for dinner. Dan noticed my name on the invite''s email list and made a point of attending. He sat where he knew he''d get to sit near me, we talked through dinner, and before we left he asked if he could take me out sometime. The week after we went to dinner and ice skating, and the rest is history.

hi all- been lurking a while...I met my bf on August 6 2005 at a bar- he lived in NY I lived in VA...My friend who was with us at the bar was going to be visiting me the next weekend- anyway, I was chatting with allen when my friend blurts out- hey you should come to VA with me next weekend- I was mortified. Allen and I exchanged numbers and I thought I would never hear from him again. the next day he text me wishing me a safe flight back home. I thought how sweet. We spoke everynight the following week up until the day he was going to visit- I thought this is crazy- this man is driving down with my friend - he doesn''t even know her or me and we don''t know him. but I knew this was speacial. Ok to make a long story short (I know, too late) in November he moved in with me and we have been together ever since. since then we have had a lot of ups and downs. His dad died unexpectedly and suddenly- he was only 59. I was involved in a car accident, a 18 wheeler hit me on I-95 and my dad recently had a cancer scare- admist all this we are still going strong. Started Dating: We have been together since New Years of 1999-2000 (Yeah, that long!)
How We Met: We met at Auburn University during the New Years party for the millennium. Honestly, everyone that attended the university (at that time) was in the streets that night for the party. Everyone there took over the town, literally! It was pandemonium. I am still not sure how we ended up noticing each other in the chaos, but since then, he has been by my side.
Expected Engagement Date: I don''t know but I would expect soon since he just informed me that I need to begin looking for a setting. Of course, that could mean nothing. Who knows?
Anything Else: Well, I don''t know really. There are some strange facts about us:
1. We both went to the same high school, only 4 years apart (it''s a 10-12 grade school)
2. He graduated with my older brother and knew my parents from him. I graduated with his younger brother. And we each have a younger
brother that is the same age (only 6 months apart.)
3. His mother and father were good friends with my grandparents (His father, my uncle and my grandfather all worked together.)
4. My father, aunts and uncles were childhood friends with his mother.

He spent a good week convincing me to go out with him, and even though I was reluctant because of our ages, I agreed and after our first date, I was smitten with him.

Anything else you want to add?: In February, the topic of children came up and as a result of the conversation, we realized we simply were not compatible. He didn''t want children for 10-15 years, I can''t wait that long as I am 31 years old. I told him I want them in five years. We spent a few weeks discussing it and thinking it over, and we ended up breaking up because he said, "the relationship is doomed." We had one month with no contact and I was heart broken...but he came back for me and said he is crazy madly in love with me and that the month apart made him realize how important I am to him and that he wants to share his life with me adn cannot imagine it without me in it. He said he will give me children in five years. We never discussed a time frame from marriage though, and we are just coming up on our one year aniversary of dating...so I think it will be at least a year before we get engaged, but I am hoping for much sooner!!! By the way, the breakup was the best thing that happened to our relationship because it completely intensified our love for each other and even though it was an awkward discussion about children and it resulted in a breakup temporarily, it was a conversation that needed to happen. I only wish we''d talked about a time frame for marriage!
