About a year after my last serious relationship, I was visiting Oahu & we all went out to a nightclub...and by the end of that night, he was the only one left keeping me company. We wound up holding hands when he walked me back to the hotel. After that, we started dating...and the rest is bliss!

Expected Engagement Date: ummm... sometime around the end of this year? I know he wants to get the ring 1st...and seeing how it''s my job to get the specs & pick a setting, some of it is my responsibility....

Anything else? I never expected him to be "the one". He was always just that fun guy in our circle of friends. I had my heart dented once & stomped again before stumbling into happiness with him. I was lucky...third time is the charm!

There was an article in my local paper last Sunday about a couple who waited 20-some-odd years to get married. She was a divorced mom who didn''t want to upset the apple cart again. He moved in down the street from her and they dated and were quite happy for all those years, they are now in their 60s, kids grown and long gone it just made sense to say "I do" to them at this point. It was a sweet story.

We don''t live together, either, which really blows some people''s minds. Nope, we don''t either! We''ve both been married before and both lived with our exes before getting married the first time, so we thought it would be better if we did things different this time. Plus I have teenaged daughters that still ive at home. Although my fiance does comes spend the night on the weekends, I still feel better about waiting to have him officially move in until we are married. How you met: I was at a friend''s birthday party at Level 3, a hip and crowded club in Hollywood. Sitting at the VIP table on the stage the whole night waiting for my friend to get all 60+ friends he invited in place. It was such chaotic and boring night.....
He went to the same club that night too, spotting me on the stage accross hundreds of people on the dance floor (according to him), wanting to talk to me but chickened out.
The next day, it was my other friend''s birthday, that I did not want to go but was forced to.
We went to Prey, another club in Hollywood. It ends up that he was there too because we have lots of mutual friends. (but it was wierd that we never met each other before that weekend)
He ran to me and asked if I was at Level 3 last night. I nodded as he shouted "it''s fate," and he''s never out of my sight ever since.

Met: Online, though we never "e-dated." More like, just started talking online like any other e-friend except within a week of the first IM he suggested we meet in person since we lived so close to each other and well, the rest is history!
Expected Engagement Date: I really couldn't say. I have a funny feeling some of my friends (and my mom, for that matter) are thinking it'll be this coming anniversary especially since we'll be on vacation at that time just by coincidence, but I know for a fact it's not happening then. I think I personally will be ok with it happening any time after I start my final year of undergrad this fall, but realistically it may very well not be for another 2-4 years.
Anything else you want to add?: I never really saw myself getting engaged or married "young" so I really feel bad that I find myself caring about this at my age. I plan on going (away most likely) to graduate school in '09, he plans on following me as soon as possible, and from square one I refuse to live together without at least being engaged. Since we have no way of knowing when we can actually be together after I finish getting my BS and get married, well no point in getting engaged until we have it all figured out. And I'm not going to lie, it hurts knowing that I could be waiting years and years until we're finally something beyond "boyfriend and girlfriend."

How We Met: We were both starting a new job in the same company June of 2003. Fate would have it that he chose the seat next to me in what turned out to be 6 weeks of training! We made each other laugh so often in training that we must have really annoyed the other people in the group. Often other people in the group would tease us about what a great couple we would be....but since we were both in relationships with other people at the time we just passed it off as a big joke. Over the next 6 months our relationships with our then boyfriend/girlfriend ended for various reason. By that time we didn''t see each other as often at work anymore but would strangely bump into each other at different events. We eventually got talking again and after a few months of being "just friends", we starting dating and things have just been great since.

We met in a shelter on a rainy day in August, saw each other a few times over the next few days before he headed east to Maine and I headed north to Canada. I had given him my info and invited him to hike with me in Maine in October if he wanted to once he finished the AT. He met me and we started our "first date" . . . which lasted 24 DAYS . . . yes, you heard me right, our first date was 24 days long and we have been a couple ever since. He is the man of my dreams and I am so very lucky to have met such an amazing person.

If case anybody is wondering about the name, for those of you that have seen the movie, it took Harry & Sally 11 years to realize how much they meant to each other. We've been together almost 8 years now and one of the very first gifts he gave me was this move. I knew I'd be waiting a while for the ring but I can say its been worth the wait
