HOW WE MEET: He used to be the teller at a bank that a friend worked at- we were acquaintances at that time.
A few years later... I''m an elementary teacher, and my colleagues were on a mission to "find me a man". The librarian mentioned that she had a cute nephew- he wound up being the teller at my bank!
We hit it off, and have been together ever since

EXPECTED ENGAGEMENT DATE: My gosh, if I could figure this out I would sleep so much better!

ANYTHING ELSE: All I know is he constantly talks about getting married. I know that the mounting is done b/c the jeweler called mid-may to have me come and check that it was what I wanted.
All he had to do was bring in the $$$.

How We Met: I was tired of Houston and met some NYC friends in Miami for a mini vacation. While there, I decided I was moving back to NYC. The night I git back to Houston, a friend called and asked me to go out with her. I refused, she begged and I gave in. A few minutes after getting to the club, I saw this guy walk by and felt tingly all over. Everytime I looked up or in his direction, he was looking at me. At the end of the night, my friend gave him my phone number. He called the next day and we''ve talked everyday since then. Our first date was July 4th. We were supposed to get something to eat and go watch the fireworks show downtown. We ended up at a barbeque where I met some of his friends and one of his sisters. We left to watch the fireworks and ended up meeting some of my friends. Since neither one of wanted the day to end so we decided to go back to the club we met. We had a great time. A few days later, July 9th, he asked me to be his girlfriend. Two weeks later, we talked about marriage and moved in together. Needless to say, I didn''t move back to NYC, although I go home as often as I can.

Expected Engagement Date: Soon. We''ve talked about getting married and have actually looked at rings. We recently ordered my e-ring, but when the ring comes and when he the proposes will be a surprise.

Hi all, thought I would finally post after lurking for quite a while... am a while away (maybe) from the event, but close enough to start thinking about it...

How you met: Long story coming up - sorry girls. We met in Australia, through mutual friends. Timing was terrible - we had both just come out of long (ie 7 year) relationships and I had already committed moving to Asia (for work) 7 months later, but we just couldn''t help ourselves. Things got quite serious, very quickly - it just felt "right". I left Australia and we did the long-distance thing for a bit, but it was really hard, especially after just 6 months together. Basically broke up in about May 2002 and had only a little contact for a few months. I was going back to Australia for a couple of months in mid-late 2002, and when I mentioned my travel in an email to him just before I left, he (somewhat hesitantly) offered to pick me up from the airport and drop me at my hotel.

As soon as we saw each other at the airport, that was it - we both knew we had something special and that it was worth trying again. I never went to the hotel - we went back to his place and talked for the rest of the day. I ended up staying with him for the two months, instead of the hotel, and we called it our first time "living together".

I had to go back overseas (this is towards the end of 2002) as I still had a couple of years on my contract. The long distance thing was still hard, but somehow a lot easier than the first stint. For a couple of years, we saw each other just a few times a year - about every 3 months or so? - for a week or two each time. Then, mid 2004, we decided we were sick of being apart and so he quit and came here. Unfortunately he found it hard to find interesting work in his field, so it was fairly frustrating for him. It was nice to be together though - that was the longest stint so far!! Then a couple of months ago, he got a fantastic offer of a contract in a Western-friendly country in the Middle East, and decided to take it.... so we are now back to the long-distance thing again. I will finish my contract and move to be with him in early 2006, by which time we have worked out we will only have spent a bit over 1 year out of our 5 year realationship actually together - and that is including holidays... sometimes I wonder how we have managed it.

Expected engagement date: We''ve discussed it, and he made mention that he appreciates my moving there would be a big thing and that perhaps it warrented making us "official"... so who knows... could be anytime before I move there, or a bit after...no real idea yet. But I think he will want at least some input from me re the e-ring - anything from just ideas on designs to me picking the whole thing, not really sure - so I suppose once we start looking, that will be a solid hint!!

Anything else you want to add?: I might not post much but I read a lot...

How you met: J and I met summer 01. I was in my 4th year of school and was interning for the summer at a hospital in W Va. J was a work study in the clinic I was at and good friends with my supervisor. We all became good friends but halfway thru the summer I started dating one of the residents there, B. B and I had a long distance relationship as I moved back home to finish my 4th year that soured about 8 months later. After graduation I was accepted to the same residency program that B had been in, and I moved back to W Va summer 2002. J was no longer a work study at the clinic but we still all hung out together. Apparently he liked me from day one but didnt want to interfere with me and B, or get involved with me in the midst of my heartbreak after our breakup. But in Oct 2002 a group of us went on a road trip and J and I ended up driving together there, and never realized how much we had in common, and he was SO interesting to talk to. We started dating after we got back from the weekend trip.

Engagement date: July 18, 2004, in Niagara Falls

Wedding date: October 15, 2005. Tried to make it close to our "first date" anniversary.

Anything else you want to add? Katrina_33 you look SO much like Kate Bosworth! Seen her in too too many pictures with my Orlando Bloom...sweet Orlando...sigh.

Hi Fire and Ice!

I am new to this forum...I enjoy visiting this forum once and awhile...it brings a smile to my face reading others love stories...I am 45, he is 47 and we have married for 24 1/2 years. On February 14th, 2006, it will be a wonderful milestone of 25 years with this amazing man...

He is an independent business computer consultant, traveling all over LA, Orange county, San Bernardino county and San Diego straightening out businesses with financial problems or helping them with their computer systems. On top of that, he and I jointly own a dance studio and a flower shop.

Met him while attending college at a--dare I say---a disco. Was dancing with his friend. He came over and danced the night away with me and stole my heart...

Me...busy mom to our 9 kids--all still living at home...7 boys, 2 girls...4 in college. I work at the flower shop 3 to 4 afternoons a week with our oldest son. Love it. Making people happy is the best!

He proposed to me over the phone while he was still at college out of town...we had already talked about it...he had bought the diamond shortly after we met...we were engaged for 3 1/2 weeks after dating off and on for 1 year.

We complement each other for the most part...we have been through alot--preemie babies, being poor, being in school...you think you are in love when you first get married...after awaking with the same person for as long as I have, I now know what true love is...

To you just-about-to-be-marrieds, it can and will only get better...its up to both of you to make it happen...after 9 kids, I think I can safely say that with some life experience!

When I saw you post, Fire and Ice, a fellow married person, I thought I''d add my info and experience...

F&I - 45 married to the same man for over 20 years. Met on a blind date. He forgot my name. Had to ask his friend my name - just when the bar got extremely quiet. Forgot my name ( in the most huffy of tones) - F&I was used to MUCH MORE attention. He got mine. Engaged in less than 6 months after proclaiming that he wasn''t going to get married until he was 30. We had a long engagement while he finished Grad School.

I''ll have to check in here every once in a while.
