I know Jcrow already has ordered her thank yous, but for anyone else following this tread, I just want to add to what Diamondfan said:

Cranes can actually do letterpress as well -- it was one of my options. And they have a TON of motifs that can be used for invites or personal stationary. I have used Crane''s in the past and the quality was excellent. The shower invites I had done were thermographed and the turn around was very quick. I ordered from a stationary shop, but you can also order some designs directly online.

and to add to what fatafelice said, crane's paper is divine for those who love paper. they make a fab 100% cotton one that letterpresses excellently!

OMG!! they're here! they're here!!

my invites have arrived! i opened the box in the 100+ degree heat of my car - i was so excited! i slowly opened the box, pushed aside the packing peanuts, opened one of the interior boxes, removed the tissue paper...

and and -- i was in tears! but, HAPPY tears!! they are sooo beautiful! and this HUGE wave of validation came over me! i did good.

no, i don't normally gloat like this, but after the big botched job the first go round-- well i deserve to be the proud owner (and designer) of these invites!

i promise to post pics tonight, though i'm not so sure i'll be able to capture the letterpress wonderfullness!

the inner env. isn''t as dark as it appears in the photo. it''s more of a cocoa color not dark chocolate.

Oh, they''re lovely! So glad to see that everything turned out OK in the end.

I so wish that I would''ve done letterpress for my invites!!! I just couldn''t find a vendor that would take a "small" job (I only needed 45 invites). "sigh"

Gosh, JCrow, they are GORGEOUS!!!! I LOVE letterpress! How many pages is it? If you can, post more pics!!! Congrats, you must be so relieved after all the drama!!!!

OMG! THEY ARE PERFECTION!!!

You did an amazing job designing them and your printer did an excellent job creating them. I am so impressed! You must be through the roof! Congratulations!

Btw, do you mind sharing with us how much it cost for the whole finished package? I compeltely understand if you don''t want to, but I am very curious to compare the costs of having the booklet made to standard invite suites (mine in particular!

thank you!!

i wish that the photos were able to really captured the sparkle of the metallic ink and the soft cotton texture of the paper. oh, and the depthness of the print! ok...enough of me gushing

well, i''ll just venture to say yours are probably cheaper. i hate to say how much mine were b/c y''all would call me crazy. but, it''s what i do and what i love- so i can justify it to myself.

I also think it nice when everything ties in together, looks more thought out rather than thrown together. I plan on having everything tie toghether from invites to thankyou, to programs, etc.

i have decided to do so too. but not too matchy matchy. i''ll have the graphic from the invite, though positioned differently than on the invites, and "merci beaucoup" printed on the thank yous. then for the programs, no graphic but a french saying meaning "festival of marriage" on cover along with our names and date and location.

Well, mine are going to be $1950 for 100. That includes the custom illustrations, the invites, and the reply postcards. I hope I am not overspending. I really didn''t shop around like I should have.

I know you are getting your "thank yous" flat printed, but what about your programs? I really want mine to be letterpressed as well, but I am not sure I can justify the cost.

ok- i''m not so crazy after all. my were around that for 150 invites and letterpressed envelopes. this includes the paper, the metallic ink, letterpressing, scoring, folding, trimming, hand binding with linen thread.

the programs will be printed on my home printer. i will buy the paper in bulk and hand assemble them.

jcrow - they turned out beautifully!!!

so glad everything worked out!!! And, considering the complexity of the invite, the price isn''t so bad... you had 4 pages printed front and back... plus the assembly!!

See! I wish I had been confidant enough in my own skills to do the illustration myself. I think that is eating up a lot of the cost. I should add that mine does also include inner and letterpressed outer envelopes, and she is doing caligraphy for our names on the invites (not each one separately, but you know what I mean). Still, I really wanted a booklet style invite more like yours.

ETA: The Crane's letterpress with all the pieces -- and a stock motif -- would have been about $1500, so I can justify that at least this way, I get the illustration/design I want!
