A dealer just posted this diamond. On paper it seems great but does it have a fish eye?

Could just be a super-close photo where the facets under the table are picking up the black camera. Are you able to get a video?

Looks like it has obstruction and the facets are mushy. A lot of flea bites on the girdle. What’s the clarity on this?

I’m very hesitant to post the pics I have because the setting is SO not my taste. Also, I can’t really see how crisp the facet pattern is from the pics.

Sorry I am late to this but I will add my voice to the chorus. It doesn't appear to be a well cut stone. Faceting is not pretty to say the least. So a hard no from me too. Don't worry...you will find the right stone. The more you see the more you will know what makes a gorgeous stone and what you need and want in your diamond.

If you like post the photos. We can ignore the setting. Or when you see it Friday take lots of videos moving the ring slowly so we can appreciate the on/off pattern and the faceting.

These pictures are very help thank you! Unfortunately, there are no specialists close to me in Boston. I have been able to see 5 OEC’s in the size range I want but all of them are in settings.

So there’s a lot of dark off facets next to each other but that could be from the camera blocking it. We need better video requested. I’m sorry I can’t evaluate it better. We need to see the performance of the stone and from that video I’m seeing a lot of dark/off facets together. Again is that a function of the way the video was taken? Maybe.

It’s indicated as sold, but it’s still there.
They specifically note inclusions being covered by the bezel. The setting you just posted would expose the girdle.
have you asked the 1st dibs seller for a look at the EGL report? View the inclusion Plot?

my limited experience with I&R on lower clarity stones, their glamour shots are very very forgiving. Like some not just faintly there....just not there.

I still think you should go see it, though. For research purposes.

This is such a tough question. For a modern cut stone F/VS2 is my sweet spot.

Maybe it’s easier to show you pics of the 2 stones that I wish I had known enough to act on.

One is a 3.31J VVS2 (I don’t need one this clean) and the other is a modern recut 4.14 I I1.

There was another pretty 4+ carat L that Sin City Finds had that someone linked to, but I’m just not convinced an L is tint free enough for me.

Cut wise, I love the flowery petal facets but it’s not a deal breaker.

It’s a no again for me cuz of the inclusions. This won’t be an eye clean SI1.

I would say no to this one, due to inclusions and 50% depth...too shallow, looks like it might have a fisheye.

This OEC is way too shallow at 50% depth/61% table. I see a big ole' fisheye, too, which is what I'd expect with that combination. Hard pass on this one, in my opinion. I would avoid the lure of a spready diamond. The extra face up size comes with a huge cost.

Have you (or anyone here?) used the PS search? It seems like all the OECs are listed through “diamonddealfinder” and you have to contact them for pictures and info. It might be worth doing a search and reaching out.

I am not currently shopping for an OEC but I’m always interested in these threads for future project planning and I’d love to know how the PS/diamonddealfinder search works out.
