How many guests ?? I also love the ''Celebration to follow'' wording BUT if you have a large number of guests this might pose a problem with its ambiguity.
Well, we are inviting 100. That''s not too many I think.

The reason I asked for guest numbers is if you put in unclear wording and have 300 guests, you might be getting hundreds of phonecalls. That is the only reason I asked for guest numbers not because I thought your numbers were too many.

OOOH... your food selection sounds delicious!

How about "small plate reception?" Totally made up so it doesn''t come with preconceived notions, but it sort of says "more food than you can spear on a toothpick, less than you would need to sit down for"...

I think celebration to follow might result in phone calls from guests. Which for me, is something to avoid.

Oh I LOVE that. You are still going to get calls, but probably not as many. Lazy folks like me will just assume they''ll be something they can eat and order room service if nothing appeals.

How about "Join us afterwards for hors d''oeuvres and a light meal" blah blah blah...

"Please join us for cocktails, hors d''oeuvres and a pasta sampler following the ....." Trying to avoid the word "meal "or "reception," which, in my part of the country, implies a sit-down dinner. Substitute any word of your choice for "sampler"

We did something fairly similar - hmm... I think on my invitation I just put "cocktail reception to follow" but on the wedsite I specified: "The wedding will be a black tie requested event, with smooth jazz and cocktails complementing an extensive hors d''ouevres spread." I agree it''s always better to underpromise and overdeliver. ;)
