Is this diamond considered an ideal cut (hearts and arrow)?

I am not going to say that this is a high performing diamond, but hearts and arrows come in an extremely wide range of proportions.
for example under 40 degrees pavilion and plus 40 degrees crown.

If I can just follow on from this. Gary saved me a month or two back and I ended up getting a 1.23ct that scored 1.9 on the HCA. It’s a GIA XXX stone and according to the tools, would also be AGS 0 for the cut.

The crown/pavilion angles are 32.5/41.2 - so the conclusion being it’s all relevant to what the other proportions are!

In the chart above you can see where I am headed.
It can have more columns and factors, for e.g. I have been wanting Andrey to factor in other things to our PS HCA on the diamond search - e.g. warnings for diamonds with potential transparency issues.
I can see how a table like this can be factored into HCA too.

I think it’s overpriced. I realize they have to pay rent, but you could get one of the finest cut diamonds for less money. Not sure what color/ clarity you’re looking for but here’s an example.

Since I'm outside the US (from Australia) I would like it to be local to reduce the pains of importing, coordinating it and paying out fees. I know I am limiting myself here, but most jewellers won't provide the benefits (like ring resizing, repairs and cleaning/plating) if the diamond did not originate from them.

Also noticed that from Whiteflash the diamonds (specially the A Cut Above) does not have a GIA certificate, but comes with AGS. I guess that's the certificate for that brand of cut?

I understand. Well you are now armed with more information than most buyers, lol. Garry who has been posting here owns Holloway Diamonds in Australia.

It sounds like you will need to be persistent in asking your jeweler for what you want. You can continue to post the specs of what is offered and we will let you know our thoughts.

Here's an update, they have provided me with the H&A scope of the diamonds they are offering me, they are very blurred though, which annoys me but I am hoping it's enough to see.

This is the 0.81ct one they claimed as Hearts and Arrow. This one scored 1.4 on HCA but I'm seeing that weird shape at the side of the arrows, not sure if it's the reflection of the inclusion.

This is the other one, 0.91ct they also claimed to be Hearts and Arrow diamond. This scored poorly at 3.3 on HCA. Based on the image, I'm not sure if this one is better due to the shadows I'm seeing.


And this is the original one, they didn't claim this one to be Hearts and Arrow but they provided an H&A scope image of it anyways.

Your safest bet of the three is the one that gives an hca score of 1.4. But the HCA will help you to rule out stones that won't perform well. Under 2 is recommended. It is not the only metric to consider. Just a first step. There is a great discussion about various angles going on now in rocky talk that might be helpful.
