Is this even possible?? Re: Padparadscha stone

all I see is brown, like someone forgot to change the goldfish water

I have to agree with Vapid on this one: its fishy.

I think there is a reason its been sitting idly on Brad's shelves. A weird rusty orange.

Ditto! Im still amazed at the huge range of colors that pad sapphires are.

The amount of brown in the does not bother me, but if it browns out indoors, that would be bad. Different strokes for different folks, but I definitely learned something good here. You all had the same reaction, and it's been in the TGT stock for a while, which means it is overpriced for how it looks in the pic.

I'd forgotten about that one...it is nice. Like the pad colored spinel, too. Mine is a small pear and I'm thinking of a stack ring so ss not to overwhelm the stone which is only 1.1 7

This is such a difficult colour to purchase, isn't it? The fine line of correct ratio of orange and pink that still looks attractive is slim.

Agreed.

My favorite is still RW's. I like the idea of trying for a spinel.

His is still my absolute favorite as well, unfortunately there is just no way for me to make that stone happen ;( I would love for someone to buy it though and I can live vicariously through their bling!

It wouldn't be so hard if the label wasn't so seemingly abused. Anytime there's a hint of the pink/orange combo PAD gets bolded, highlighted, italicized and the price jumps up.

I think this is a little pricier than the others (besides the RW stone), but I thought I would post it.

Funny thing is that this one is to pink for me, I like them when they have more peach or salmon tones in them. We have the most beautiful sunsets in Guam that display this amazing coral color all across the sky, that what I'm going for. (Not hard to ask for right ;)) )

I agree about the Wildfish sapphire. I looked at it and wondered "where is the orange"? Especially since the way the description is written, orange is the primary colour with the pink being the secondary.

As a word of caution, I would not buy a "Padparadscha" sapphire unless it had a lab report from a reputable lab stating it so. Many vendors and individuals, as you've seen, have their own definitions. In order to be considered a real and true Pad, it can have only pink and orange; it cannot have any brown modifier. It cannot have pink and orange striations, but have the colors blend. In my experience, I notice that many vendors entice by saying that the stone is a pad "for sure" but they just haven't had a chance to send it to a lab for verification. Be wary. They might be remarkably similar, but the only stones that should be commanding pad prices are those with lab reports stating as much. Just an fyi...

Out of curiosity, how much is the Richard Wise pad?

You'd have to inquire with him to find out. My guess would be $12k - $15k

Thanks. I am more curious than anything. It's a beautiful stone.

Yes, expect it to cost no less than $10k.
