Hi, everyone! I'm planning to propose to my boyfriend soon, and he’s mentioned that he loves jade. I’m looking for a unique engagement ring featuring jade, ideally set in a darker metal like tungsten, titanium, or black stainless steel, as I think he’d prefer that over gold. Even silver would work too.

I understand jade isn’t the strongest, but I’m not too worried about that since he’s careful with his jewelry and usually takes it off when doing manual work or cleaning.

Does anyone have recommendations for where I can find beautiful jade engagement rings, either onli

First, congratulations on your upcoming engagement! So yeah, jadeite has moderate hardness (7 on the Mohs scale), which means it can scratch. But it has excellent toughness, which means it's quite resistant to cracks and chips.

Hopefully our jade experts will be along shortly with recommendations. Best wishes!!

Congratulations @happy times :appl:
I have to leave for work shortly so here are two places that have some jadeite set in titanium.
Alex Wong in Singapore https://www.instagram.com/alex.wong.sg?igsh=MWdpb3FyaTV1cW5qaQ==
ilia Jade in Hong Kong (in collaboration with Scavia) https://www.ilia.com.hk/product-category/rings/cabochon-rings/?lang=en

Congratulations and welcome!

I agree with @empliau. If you want to go with a funky metal, go with a softer one. And if you must go with a white metal I would go platinum or unplated nickel-free WG (like palladium WG). Jade will be a cab and you will want something easily workable. Silver is OK but you won't want to put a nice piece of forever jade in silver, imo.

And since you mention "unique," there's unique and there's uniquely lovely. Lots of ways to make a unique ring but trickier for a wear-everyday ring for a man, imo. Not sure where you live and tastes do vary.

Jade is a nice, durable stone that won't chip. I would go with a simple bezel or flush mount that is classic and shows off the gem and not the "high design," which often isn't. There, I've said too much.

I agree with previous posters, especially @LilAlex.

Jade is a fine stone for a man's ring. My father, a careful and stylish dresser, always wore a ring with a plain oval panel, about 9x7mm, of New Zealand greenstone (i.e. nephrite jade) set in a plain bezel ring in 9k yellow gold. It could not have cost much (our family were not rich), but it was absolutely part of his image. He wore it almost until he died.

You know your boyfriend's taste and lifestyle and I don't. So I may be way out of line in saying this, but... For a man's ring that will be worn every day and on all occasions, you have to think about what's appropriate and conventional. (Sez me, a man with a fair collection of rings, some of which are not so conventional...) Err on the side of simple, stylish and classic. Put the money into the quality of the stone.

IMO, green jade (jadeite or nephrite) looks better in yellow metal than in white. But of course, it's his taste that matters, not mine.

Are you expecting that after you marry, he will wear a wedding band in addition to the engagement ring? Both on the same hand? One on each hand? Whatever, it would be good to think about how they will go together.
